Fox Terrier (Smooth)
The breed seems to be going through a difficult period with varying quality & type making consistent judging difficult. With the nucleus of dedicated fanciers within the breed, I feel sure that better times are ahead for this lovely breed. MPD (1) 1 Smith’s Thunderclap Macadam, w/t headed dog, smart & upstanding, well constructed, up to size, in good fettle, strong head with good properties, excellent shoulder, topline, ribbing & set-on, moved & showed soundly. PD (1) 1 Clifford’s Migley Jack The Lad, very unruly & erratic, OK in head, ears need to settle. Good front & topline, shelly in body which makes him look rangy, decent set-on, sound. PGD (2) 1 Falkous’ Shillelagh San Diego of Falkmere, t/w, smart looking with better overall balance than 2, strong head with good properties, excellent shoulder, straight front though a little wide, short back with excellent set-on, in good form with excellent muscletone, moved & showed; 2 Darby & Marston’s Chipstead Gulliver of Classicway, decent head, not the shoulder of 1. Good ribbing, quarters & set-on, sound though front toed in slightly & turned left hind. LD (3,1a) Two very decent sorts. 1 Thornton & Bebbington’s Glendraterra Rising Sun, gave his grandfather the group in ’05 & two weeks after this show gave a Rascal Fair daughter BOB at the SFT Specialty in Sweden. Same type with lovely balanced head, neat ear, good eye, bite & teeth, excellent front & forehand, good ribbing, short with excellent set-on, well defined quarters, in good fettle. A bit full of himself during the class but did enough & then settled well thereafter. CC & BOB; 2 Laws’ Sufredon Bandleade, close up & a good sort, strong head, good eye, bite & teeth, heavier in ear, short with excellent ribbing, topline & set-on, turned slightly both fore & aft but sound & showy. OD (3) 1 Heathcote’s Corriecote Mastercard, heavy t/w, nice quality sort with good head, strong muzzle, keen eye & decent ears, excellent shoulder, short with good ribbing, quarters & set-on, well muscled, well presented & handled, moved & showed well. RCC; 2 Thornton & Bebbington’s Glendraterra Sunset Strip, same type as limit winner with excellent head. Unsettled in ears. Good front & forehand, strong topline, good ribbing, excellent set-on with well made quarters, sound & showy but not so settled particularly in hind; 3 Ch Roxway Fair Exchange with Classicway. MPB (3) 1 Thornton & Bebbington’s Glendraterra Danzatrice, quality baby from this excellent kennel, good head, clean front & forehand, short, sound in rib & topline, well set-on, in good fettle, sound & showy; 2 Graffin’s Leconridge Kiss Me Kate, rangier sort, pleasing head, straight front, good topline & well muscled. Needs time for the middlepiece, erratic but sound & showy; 3 Thunderclap Macalpine at Coolins. PB (2) 1 Wilson’s Lizoni Shadow Dancer, lovely quality sort in many areas, lovely head & expression, keen eye & excellent ears, quality front & forehand, short with excellent set-on, well schooled & handled, moved & showed well. BP; 2 Dobson’s Thunderclap Macalpine at Coolins, decent head, straight front, good set-on. Needs time. Sound & happy. JB (1) 1 Porter’s Merkoast Vixen, feminine white, attractive black head of good quality, good ear, bite & teeth, good forehand & straight front, ribs to fill, level & short with good set-on, sound & in challenge used quarters to better effect. RCC. PGB (3) 1 Hannar’s Tamedale Yasmin, lovely bitch of excellent type. Rather spoiled by severity of turned in front feet but overall the best in this mixed quality class. Clean skull, good muzzle bite & teeth, good ear & eye, excellent shoulder, topline, set-on & ribbing, sound & showy; 2 Smith’s Thunderclap Macanespie, close up but poor earset spoiled expression. Lovely front & forehand, good rib, set-on, moved well; 3 Gavingale Airs N Graces. LB (3,1) 1 Laws’ Sufredon Bandanna at Canterwey, good quality t/w, lovely head, excellent front, shoulder & fore, good angulation, well ribbed, moved & showed; 2 Burney’s Sidewater Gypsy, decent b/t with good head, neat ears, straight front though a little wide. Needs time for the middlepiece, sound but not so settled. OB (7,2) 1 Lewis’ Dobelands Sonador, good quality & type, lovely head, keen eye, good ear, muzzle bite & teeth, straight front, well bodied, short & level with good set-on, well handled, moving & showing. CC; 2 Graffin’s Leconridge Jerry Hall, nice one with balance, good head & forehand, topline, body & set-on, sound & showy but not so positive in hind; 3 Migley Whiteside.
