FOX SMOOTH BLACKPOOL 19 Judge(s): MR NICK CONNELL DCC MOSVALLEY BRIAN MAY (MRS C M, MRS S & MR J DAVIES & WATSON) FOX SMOOTH JUDGE BLACKPOOL 19 Thank you to my two efficient stewards who managed the ring smoothly and many thanks to the exhibitors for entering their dogs. It would appear that straight quarter angles and fore feet turning inwards are an undesirable trait which has been bred out of the breed. JD (3, 1) 1 Thornton & Babington’s Glendraterra Will Eye Am. Super youngster who is well balanced and is good for bone and substance for his age. His head is of a good length, clean and nicely chiselled with a correct expression which is attributed by his correctly placed ears and eyes. Crested neck into shoulders which are set at the desired angle and he has a proportionate length of upper arm. Level topline and a great tail set. His quarters are well developed and mirror his front angles and he has super tight feet. His movement is faultless as he is so sound when he settles to the job. It is understandable how this youngster has achieved so much in such a short space of time as he is classical, RCC and pleased to watch him win Junior Terrier G3. 2 Davison’s Agria Latin Lover With Belfox. Head of a decent length although I would prefer a cleaner back skull, good front assembly and well boned fore legs. Level topline and longer coupled than first, nicely angulated quarters and moved true both ways. PGD (1) 1 Albert’s Zetamaz Hot Off The Press At Dalfson. Decent head and expression, his shoulders are well laid back and his forelegs are straight and nicely boned. His topline is level and he has a decent tail set and he moved soundly going away. LD (3) 1 Davies & Watson’s Mossvalley Brian May. He is a stallion of a dog who is extremely well balanced as he is of a good size, super neck, short backed and correctly angulated in his front and quarters. His head is text book as it is a super length, flat and clean whilst retaining masculinity. His ears are correctly placed and his eyes are small and well set and he looks down his nose with a typical expression. His forelegs are well boned and he has tight well padded feet, his ribs extend back to a short loin and he has a great tail set, although he can be a little proud with its carriage at times. His movement is sound both fore and aft and he covers the ground with correct foot fall when viewed from side profile. He appears to be a strong minded dog and challenged his handler at times, but he did enough for me to ascertain his qualities and I had no hesitation with awarding him the CC. 2 Vickers’ Eskwyre Meet Me In St Louis. Well made dog who portrays a classical silhouette as he has a good front assembly and nicely angulated quarters. His topline is level with a good tail set and his ribs are carried back to a short loin. He is well boned for his size and he moves soundly both fore and aft. His head is of a good length and he has a correctly placed ears, although he does not have the quality of head or the expression of the winner. 3 Brookes & Wildig’s Zetamaz Carbon Copy. OD (4, 1) 1 Dams’ Tamedale Caruso. Lovely head which is of a good length, flat and clean with correctly placed eyes and ears attributing to a characteristic expression. His neck is clean and of a good length into correctly angulated shoulders and he has a good ratio of upper arm. His well boned forelegs are straight and his top line is level with a good tail set. His quarter angles mirror his front assembly which constitute to balanced proportions. He moves true both fore and aft and covers the ground effortlessly, he was a strong contender for top honours. 2 Brookes’ Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu. Another nice dog who is of a different type to the winner, although he does have a well chiselled head of a good length and a clean arched neck into a good front assembly. His topline is level and he has well developed quarters which are correctly angulated. He was carrying too much weight today which affected his overall balance and I preferred the reach and drive of the winner. PB (1) 1 Hannar’s Borovale Nameri. Wow, what an eyecatching baby, who is so well balanced with type in abundance. Her head is classical as it is clean and extremely well chiselled with well placed ears and eyes of a desired shape and size. She has a clean crested neck into shoulders set at the desired angle, straight well boned fore legs and nice tight feet. Her top line is level and she has a good tail set and her ribs are carried back to a short loin. Her quarters are well developed for her age and are nicely angulated. She moved true both fore and aft with correct foot fall when viewed from side profile. I strongly considered her for the CC but she still needs to firm up as you would expect for her age, RCC. When she matures she will trouble the best in the breed. Congratulations on winning the Terrier Puppy Group. JB (4, 1) 1 Dams’ Tamedale Pricilla. Lovely head which is flat, clean and of a good length with correctly positioned ears and eyes. Elegant neck into well laid back shoulders into a desired length of upper arm. Level topline and her ribs extend back to a short loin. Her quarters are well developed for her age and are nicely angulated. She moved true both ways and has good reach and drive when viewed from side profile. 2 Thornton & Babington’s Glendraterra Eye Catcha. Another quality bitch who has a long and clean head with a typical expression, level topline and good angles both in fore and hindquarters. I would like more of her and when settled she moved soundly both ways. 3 Rogers’ Lorecon Daybreak At Lunafox. PGB (4, 1) In this class there was one exhibit who was not too happy and her sympathetic handler made the correct decision to withdraw her. 1 Rogers’ Only You Du Manoir St Adrien At Lunafox. Clean head of a good length with nicely placed ears, enough neck into well laid back shoulders and nicely angulated quarters. She moved very sound both fore and aft and covered the ground when viewed from side profile. I would prefer her shorter coupled. 2 Davison’s Lizoni Hot To Trot. Decent head with a good mouth, straight well boned fore legs and well developed quarters and moved true in front. I would prefer her shorter coupled and a firmer topline. LB (3) 1 Arustamyan’s Lorecon Space Monster. Nicely balanced bitch who I wouldn’t want any bigger. She is extremely sound both fore and aft and covered the ground with correct foot fall when viewed from side profile. Her head is of a good length, clean and flat with a typical expression. She has a good length of neck into a nicely angulated front assembly, her top line is level and she has correctly angulated quarters. 2 Brookes & Nichols’ Zetamaz Cover Girl. Another nice type who has a good head and expression, enough neck and well placed shoulders. Her topline is level and her ribs are extended back to a short loin. Her quarters are well developed and angulated and she moved soundly although she would benefit from ring class training. 3 Ketley & Gash’s Enjakay Secret Love. OB (2) 1 Schoneberg’s Wanda vd Schonenbergen. Lovely type who, for me, epitomises a classic Smooth as she is extremely well balanced and true to type which is attributed by her height, length, front and rear angles and elegance. She has a beautiful well chiselled head which is flat, clean and of a good length, her ears and eyes are correctly placed and her expression is typical. She has a lovely reach of neck into a text book front assembly as her shoulders are placed at the desired angle and she has the correct ratio of upper arm onto straight well boned fore legs and tight well padded feet. Her top line is level with a good tail set and her ribs are carried well back to a short loin. Her quarter angles mirror her front assembly harmoniously and he movement is effortless with correct reach and drive and true both fore and aft. I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC & BOB. 2 Hannar’s Borovale Georgia. Another beautiful example of the breed who has a classical head and expression, lengthy neck into well placed shoulders and straight well boned fore legs. Her topline is level and her ribs are well carried back to a short loin. She has nicely angulated quarters and moves soundly behind. I would prefer a better ratio and angled upper arm and tighter elbows as these factors effect her front movement. Judge Nick Connell
