FOX SMOOTH CRUFTS 12 Fox Terrier (Smooth) Judge(s): MR P HORSPOOL FOX SMOOTH JUDGE CRUFTS 12 Fox Terriers, Smooth BP was Thunderclap Macfarlane, an appealing & most promising t/w bitch. Well placed ears, good dark eye, lovely round bone, good straight front, small catlike feet, fair reach of neck, good depth of body, short back & good tailset, well angulated quarters, moves freely & makes the most of herself. BCC was Lizoni Shadow Dancer, b/w bitch teeming with quality, appealed for her true feminine outline & ground covering stance, pleasing head & neat well placed ears, good reach of neck, well laid shoulders, well developed in body, good tailset, shapely quarters, moved freely, in super condition. Every dog has their day & today was this little bitch’s who has come along steadily. She did everything that was asked & thoroughly deserved the CC, her second, hopefully her third will not be too far away. RDCC was Ch Glendraterra Fredi Mercury, striking b/w dog who commands attention, in profile looks most stunning, has a desirable head with correct chiselled foreface. I would prefer his ears to be a fraction smaller with a touch more lift. Good reach of neck, big spring of rib, short compact body, well made shapely quarters, in great condition. Moves with drive, but is not always co-operative as he tends to fight with his handler & looks restricted, he might benefit from moving on a longer lead. Nevertheless, as a showman he pushed the CC winner all the way & he will always be destined for top awards. RBCC was Forgevale Simply Stunning, very sound white bodied tan headed bitch, typical in balance, good length of head. Well placed ears, though to be picky could perhaps be a fraction smaller. Big spring of rib, level topline, correct tailset, truly honest type of bitch who was well presented, moved & showed very well. VD (5) Very interesting class to start with, four of the five exhibits were known to me & I have admired them separately on previous occasions. 1 Darby’s Ch Classicway Barnaby Rudge, well known ch. I like the make & shape of this dog very much indeed. Unfortunately, this archetypal type of Smooth is becoming rarer, which is a great pity. In good coat & condition, looked well in profile, moved with drive, showed well; 2 Saunders’ Star Turn of Galleyshine, not dissimilar to 1 in outline, though 1 is a touch more masculine in head & expression & has slightly more bone. Well made in body, made the most of himself & looked the part, handled well; 3 Turner’s Rotur Celtic Classic, white bodied with black head markings, very typical male of the prefix he carries, pleasing in outline, typical expression, very sound. Slightly larger than those placed above him. PD (1) 1 Hall’s Gosel White Moonlight, well grown lightly marked t/w youngster, long head with good dark eye & ear placement, fair reach of neck, big spring of rib, well made quarters for one so young. Needs to develop into his frame & settle on the move, but time is on his side. JD (7) 1 Thornton, Bebbington & Boon’s Ch Glendraterra Fredi Mercury. RCC; 2 Broom’s Roxway Euonymus, a very alert t/w dog, typical Roxway head & expression, well developed in body that was in good form. A little unsettled at times, but experience should rectify this; 3 Feltham & Wilson’s Lizoni Cadellins Romance, a medium sized b/w dog with substance, pleasing in outline, well placed ears which he uses. A touch too broad in skull, short strong back, good tailset & quarters. PGD (8) 1 Morris’ Sanamaris Seventy Seven, a white bodied dog with tri head markings, good length of head with strong foreface, excellent bone & legs, small catlike feet, pleasing in body, level topline, tail on top, nice quarters, in lovely order, moved freely, showed well; 2 Crouch’s Glendraterra Sancho Panza among Oaxaca, squarely made b/w dog with substance, many admirable breed points, his main failing is all to see. Put this to one side, he has good round bone, clean head with strong foreface, fair reach of neck, short compact body, good tailset, well made quarters which he uses on the move, handled well; 3 Clark’s Chipstead Cello von Canixfox, a white dog, larger in frame than those placed above him. Very fit & sound. Has the desired flat skull, but his head is a touch broad & I would prefer more foreface. Good legs & feet. He would benefit if he had a touch more body weight for his size. Correct level topline, good tailset, muscled quarters, moved with drive. At times looked a little bored. LD (10) 1 Morris’ Sanamaris Sweet Talker, medium sized b/w dog with quality, eyecatching in outline, nicely balanced, pleasing head with neatly placed ears which gave him a keen expression, short strong back with good tailset, like his brother Seventy Seven, he also benefits from good legs & feet, moved well, in lovely condition; 2 Hall’s Gosel Ceylonesse, a most handsome white bodied dog with black head markings, scores in make & shape, typical head with well placed ears, very masculine in expression, good reach of neck, big spring of rib, tail on top, strong well developed quarters, moved with drive, in good form. A close decision; 3 Ricahrdson’s Glendraterra Pied Piper, a good type of white dog looking fit & well, pleasing in outline. A fraction too long in back. Head is typical, good round bone, catlike feet, level topline with correct tailset, nice quarters, moved well in front. Would prefer more drive behind. OD (8) 1 Mitnyan’s Mercuryfox Leaser. CC & BOB; 2 Griffiths & Jones’ Yoxella Whistle And Flute with Darlaur, a strong nearly all white dog, long lean head, dark eye, straight front with good bone, big spring of rib. At times his topline appears a little slack. Well made quarters, moves with drive. Just didn’t want to co-operate with his handler here; 3 Delmars’ Ir Ch Shillelagh Smooth Operator, medium sized smart t/w dog that was expertly handled, typical in head, ears & expression, good body & tailset, in hard condition. GCD (1) 1 Brookes’ mischief In Disguise for Zetamaz, a squarely made t/w dog in good condition, moved with drive. Not at all happy with his surroundings. VB (0). PB (1) 1 Smith’s Thunderclap Macfarlane. BP. JB (2) 1 Smith & Jones’ Darlaur Dyma Fi, an attractive almost all white young bitch, very typical of this kennel. Has bone & substance, dark eye, well placed ears which gave her a keen expression, well developed big ribbed body, good set-on, very sound on the move, good coat that was well presented, showed with enthusiasm; 2 Darby’s Dobelands Candy Stripes of Classicway, tan headed bitch, lighter in make & shape, fair reach of neck, short compact body, good quarters. At times a touch proud of her tail which tends to spoil her outline. PGB (9) 1 Crouch’s Glendraterra Lady Gaga among Oaxaca, a very showy white bodied bitch with tan head markings, pleasing bone, feminine head & expression, good neck, big spring of rib, correct tailset, nice quarters, moved really well front & rear, was handled to advantage; 2 Brookes’ Dobelands Hot Totty at Zetamaz, lightly marked bitch with many admirable qualities, pleasing outline, clean head, neat ears, good in make & shape, moved well; 3 Korozs-Papp’s Agria Candy Cane, an attractive heavily marked b/w bitch, typical stance, dark eye, well placed ears, compact body, showed well. LB (9) 1 Carlo’s Etoile De Cornille, lightly marked t/w bitch who made the most of herself. Typical in outline, feminine head. I would prefer her ears to be a touch smaller with more of a lift. Straight front, ample bone, level topline, moved with purpose; 2 Hall’s Glendraterra Dawn Chorus with Gosel, lots to like about this attractive b/w bitch, feminine yet with substance, clean head. Ears are well placed but unfortunately she would not use them. Loved her make & shape. A pity she wouldn’t put all in; 3 Saunders’ Galleyshine Secret Love, a black headed bitch with a white body, lighter in build than those above, true head & dark eye, well placed ears, short compact body, good tailset, moved & showed well. OB (8) 1 Wilsons’ Lizoni Shadow Dancer. CC; 2 Hughes & Butcher’s Forgevale Simply Stunning. RCC; 3 Clifford’s Ch/Ir Ch Migley Whiteside, I have much admired this quality bitch, a real favourite of mine. Truly honest in type, I love her for make & shape. She could not match the movement or showmanship of those placed above here, but certainly not disgraced standing third today. GCB (1) 1 Rogers’ Falkmere’s First Impression, a lightly marked t/w bitch. Has flat skull, but would prefer stronger foreface. Pleasing in size, ample bone, short level back, showed well.
