FOX SMOOTH CRUFTS 19 Judge(s): MRS S CONNELL BEST OF BREED MOSVALLEY BRIAN MAY Dog Owner: MRS C M, MRS S & MR J DAVIES & WATSON FOX SMOOTH JUDGE CRUFTS 19 I would like to express my gratitude to Mr Tom Mather and his committee for their kind invitation to judge the greatest show. Special thanks to the exhibitors for entering their dogs who were well presented and handled to get the best out of them. It would be remiss of me not to mention my two competent stewards who managed the ring effectively. We were graced by his Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent who appeared interested in the breed and expressed a fondness for British native breeds. As this was a representative entry for this variety I would like to mention my observations in comparison to when I last judged the breed. There is a vast improvement in front feet as only a couple turned inwards and quarter angles have improved immensely. However I was rather shocked by the amount of dogs with incorrect ear size, placement and carriage, far too many are too large, heavy and are resting on top of the skull with no lift. This completely detracts from the typical expression and needs watching. 1 Arustamyan Ger Ch Percy VD Bismarckquelle. I would like to commend this exhibitor for exhibiting this veteran in super condition, he is a lovely type who has retained a classical head with well placed eyes and ears. Correct front and quarter angles, short level top line and a well set tail and moved soundly both ways. 2 Griffiths & Jones' Ch Yoxella white tie Similar attributes as 1st but not as good in top line and ear carriage. 3 Osborne's Forgevale Sun King. Nice head and expression, good front assembly and quarter angulations, although he was longer coupled and his tail set could be better. 1 Davison's Agria Latin Lover with Belfox. Nice type who has a good length of head which is clean and flat and portrays a good expression which is attributed by his correctly placed eyes and ears. Well laid back shoulders and straight well boned fore legs. Level top line and a good tail set. Moved true both fore and aft. 2 Llewellyn's Buick Skyhawk Enjoy Myconebee. Compact dog with a clean head but not the quality of 1st I felt this was the most challenging class of the day and I'm sure the exhibits may change places on another day 1 Moehrke & achenback's Quest VD Bismarckquelle BJS. Balanced young dog who portrays a classical outline. His head is flat and of a good length with well placed eyes and ears which he carries correctly. His neck is of a good length, clean and muscular into well set shoulders, straight well boned fore legs, level top line and ribs well carried back to a short loin. Nicely angulated quarters which are well developed for his age and he moved true both fore and aft with correct foot fall. RDCC 2 Vickers' Eskwyre meet me in St Louis. Nice sized dog who has ample bone and substance whilst retaining refinement. Lovely head of a good length with well placed ears, although I preferred the expression of 1st. Lengthy neck into a good front assembly, short level back and nicely angulated quarters. Moved soundly both ways. 3 Brookes & Wildig's Zetamaz Carbon Copy. Lovely type and a striking outline who has a typical head and expression, correctly angulated front and quarters and moved soundly both fore and aft. Not the bone and substance of 1st & 2nd 1 Davies & Watson's Mosvalley Brian May. This is what I was looking for, a short backed hunter with bone, substance and elegance who stood fore square and moves correctly. He is a striking young male who has the most beautiful flat skull and a proportionate fore face of a good length. His ears are correctly placed with the correct lift and his eyes are the desired shape and size and correctly set which attributes to a typical expression. His lengthy neck is clean and well muscled and fits into text book shoulders with a good length and angle of upper arm onto well boned, straight fore legs. His front assembly mirrors his quarter angles which are well developed in muscle tone for his age with low set hocks. His top line is level and he has a correct tail set which he can be a little proud in carriage at times. His ribs are well carried back to a short loin and he was presented in pristine condition. 3 Mitchells' Arralow Ambrose. Decent head, level top line and moved ok when settled. 1 Dams's Tamedale Caruso. Lovely dog for type who portrays a classical outline. His head is typical as it is clean and of a good length with well placed eyes and ears. Lengthy neck into well laid back shoulders, level top line and a good tail set. His quarters are well angulated and muscled and he moved soundly both fore and aft. He was in strong contention for the RCC. 2 Pisani Detry's Belfox Quidijames. Nice outline with a decent head and expression, correct top line, short coupled and moved true both ways. 1 Puig Liza ragas - Abadane Black Hunter. Quality outline with a long refined head and well placed ears of the correct size although not enough lift which detracts from the correct expression. Super length of neck into a well angulated front, level top line and short coupled and nicely angulated quarters. Moved soundly and handled to a high standard. 2 Wilberg & Wilkinsons Aust Ch Pinnacle Me Myself And Eye To Kanix. Good length of head with well placed eyes, although his ears are on the large side and I would prefer more lift. Clean front and level top line with a well set tail and well developed quarters. He has plenty of bone and substance and moved very soundly both fore and aft. 3 Brookes' Zetamaz Gerard Depardiu. Smaller dog than 1st & 2nd who is of a nice type with a refined head of a good length, clean neck into a good front assembly, level top line and well angulated quarters. He moved true both ways and was presented in good condition. 1 Kettles's Equifox Perfect Pickle. Decent head and ear placement. Straight well boned fore legs and a level top line, moved soundly. 1 Arustamyan's Lorecon discovery. Lovely feminine baby of a nice size who has a quality refined head with a typical expression which is attributed by her correctly set ears and eyes. Nice length of neck into well laid back shoulders, short level back and she has a good tail set. Nicely angulated quarters and she moved soundly both ways, B.P.I.B 2 Rogers' Only you Du Manoir Saint Adrien At Lunafox. Similare size and attributes as 1st but not as short coupled. 1 Kettles's Foxindean Prettiest Star. Lovely silhouette as she is short coupled with a good length of neck and balanced proportions throughout. Clean head of a good length, well laid back shoulders and nicely angulated quarters. Moved true both ways. 2 Rogers Lorecon daybreak at Lunafox. Similar attributes to 1st but not the ear carriage of the winner. 3 Murray & Crouch's Yarrum innuendo at Oaxaca. Decent head of good proportions and moved well. I preferred the 1st and 2nd short coupling and level top lines. 1 Verdiers Nightingale. Nice sized bitch of a decent type who has a good length of head with correctly placed eyes and ears. Clean front which is nicely angulated, short coupled and a level top line with a well set tail. Well developed quarters and moved true both ways. 2 Duaourneasu - Nikita de la riviere landelot 3 Davisons - Lizoni Hot To Trot. I liked her head, eye and ear placement. Nicely angled front and rear assembly, although her top line could be better. 1 Hannars' Borovale Georgia. Lovely, elegant bitch who has a stunning outline. Refined head of an excellent length with well placed eyes and ears of the correct size and carriage. Lengthy neck into a correct front assembly and well boned, straight fore legs. Level top line with a good tails set and her ribs are well carried back to a short loin. Her quarters are nicely angulated and well developed in muscle tone and she was presented in good order. Her movement is faultless as she is so sound and covers the ground effortlessly. RBCC. 2 Saunders' Venice VD Bismarckquelle. Another lovely bitch who has similar attributes to the winner, although not as impressive in outline. 3 Vickers She's The One at Eskwyre. Lovely shape and size with a typical head, good length of neck, level top line and nicely angulated quarters. She moved soundly both ways but appeared a little lethargic and refused to use her ears. 1 Schoenberg's Wanda Von Den Schoenen Bergen. Wow, what a beautiful bitch who is so classy and typical. Her clean head is flat and of a good length with a proportionate fore face. Her eyes are the desired size, shape and correctly placed as are her ears which attribute to the desired fox terrier expression. Her neck is long and muscular and flows into a text book front assembly, her straight fore legs are well boned and she has good feet. Her top line is level and she has a good tail set and her ribs are well carried back to her short loin. Her quarters are correctly angulated to mirror her front assembly and whenever I looked at her she stood fore square. She moved so true both fore and aft with the correct foot fall when viewed from side profile. She pushed the male all the way for B.O.B but in the challenge for B.O.B, the male pulled himself up and had that characteristic expression by looking down his nose at me when it mattered. BCC 2 Julians' Lanyons Crime Of Passion Typical bitch with a lovely refined head with a typical expression. Lengthy neck into correctly set shoulders, level top line and a good tail set. Well angulated quarters which are well conditioned in muscle tone. Moved true both fore and aft. She did not have the shape or enthusiasm of the winner. 3 Hughes & Butchers' Ch Forgevale Quintessence. Feminine bitch with a classic outline. Typical head which is refined with well placed ears which were a little flighty today. Level top line and ribs well carried back to a short loin. Moved true in front but a little close going away.
