The Fox Terrier Club Championship Show – Sunday 30th October 2022

Judge: Nicola Ketley

What an honour it was to not only award my first set of CCs but to do it at The Fox Terrier Clubs 136th Championship Show. The welcoming committee were outstanding and the show was ran like a well oiled machine at the hands of Jenny Thornton – Secretary. I must also thank the two expert stewards Margaret and Penny who made my day even more enjoyable with their very skilled help.

Overall the quality of the exhibits was excellent, with some beautifully turned out dogs and bitches. However I feel that the movement especially rear is declining and needs to be something brought to breeders attention going forward. The difference in type throughout the bitches was quite unreal making some of my decisions quite difficult but I feel my winners were all of similar type.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)

1 Anderson & Watts’ Nisyros Doradus

6 month old tan and white puppy dog. He has a beautiful head and excellent expression, ears a little untidy today but nicely set. Good strong neck leading to excellent shoulders with a very short back, good tail placement, excellent bend of stifle and neat feet, moved well. he has perfect bone for a dog so young and is very promising. BPD, BP, BPIS

Puppy Dog (2,0)

1 Nichols’ Chantalle Ink Spot

12 month old white dog with black head markings. Very well behaved young man with a nice head, and well placed ears, good front and neat feet, slightly long cast but maintained his topline on the move. He did well performing for his handler.

2 Nichols’ Chantalle Ink Blot

12 month old white dog again with black head markings and the litter brother to 1. Much more unruly than his brother proving a handful for his handler, never the less he did well considering. He is much of a likeness to his brother with a nice head, front, neat feet, again slightly long cast but once settled and in his stride moved ok.

Junior Dog (1,0)

1 Care & Mutums’ Spirit Du Manoir Saint Adrien For Thunderail (IMP) Fra

12 month old tan and white outstanding dog that has everything you would want in a smooth fox terrier, I saw him as a puppy and he has only improved with age. He has a striking head with perfectly set ears and excellent expression, long reach of neck, leading to well placed shoulders good ribs, short back with level topline, he has the perfect amount of bone and muscle tone and stands square on very good feet. He moves with drive and purpose never putting a foot wrong. He was presented to a very high standard and performs well for his handler. One to watch! DCC, BOB & RBIS

Special Beginners Dog (0,0)

Post Graduate Dog (0,0)

Limit Dog (4,0)

1 Murrays’ Yarrum Dixie Dash

3 year old heavily marked tan and white dog with a good head and well placed ears, he has a great expression. short backed well boned dog with neat feet, super shoulders and maintained a level top line on the move pushed hard for RDCC worked well with his handler.

2 Schonebergs’ Earl VD Schonenbergen

3 year old white dog with black markings. Different type of dog to 1 less cobby and much taller. He has a striking head with alert expression, good front and shoulders leading to longer cast body. He moved well at the rear but tended to toe in at front. Well handled and presented immaculately.

3 Arustamyans’ Chipstead Puzzle of Lorecon

Open Dog (4,1)

1 Wilbergs’ Ch. Kaniz Quintus

2yr old white dog with tan head markings. A pleasure to go over this young dog as he has had a very successful show career thus far. He has a chiselled head with good expression however his ears are tight to his skull and require more lift to perfect this expression. He has a straight front leading to tidy feet, excellent shoulder placement leading to a very short back, good strong hind quarters and adequate bend of stifle moving well, however, I do feel he lacks bone for a male and this was his downfall against the CC winner. Excellently presented and handled as ever. RDCC

2 McLaughlans’ Nisyros Crossfire At Azrams

3 ½ year old white dog with black head, big well boned dog with excellent head and expression, great front and excellent feet. Short back level topline and well muscled hind quarters. Moved OK but would prefer more animation not sure this dog was happy in the ring today and tended to drop his tail.

3 Hughes’ Forgevale Top Gun

Veteran Dog or Bitch (1,0)

1 Jacques’ Residensets Hands In The Air for Jacqspot (Swed Imp)

9 year old white dog with one tan ear. This dog is very impressive still in his mature years. He oozes bone and character, He has a well chiselled head with the neatest of ears and wicked expression. He has a super strong front and the greatest of feet. Good shoulder placement leading to a longer cast back. Strong well-muscled rear. He moves with drive but toes in a little in front. BV

Minor Puppy Bitch (2,0)

A class of 2 completely different types.

1 Anderson & Watts’ Nisyros Nebula

A 6 month old white bitch with black head and markings. This very young lady was such a character, and it was a joy to go over her. She handled the whole situation like a pro especially when there was a kafuffle in the wire ring next to her. She has the prettiest of heads with a varmity expression and well set ears, nice clean front and neat feet already for a bitch of such a young age. She has well placed shoulders and is very short in back with excellent tail set. In the moments she was in her stride she moved very well front and rear, but was a little distracted so not easy to assess. I think this bitch will do well and I will watch her show on closely BPB

2 Moores’ Fincham Radio Ga Ga

This bitch is the same age as 1 but of completely different type. She was white bitch with black and white head markings. She has a nice head although with slightly large ears. She has ample bone and is of good size for such a young bitch. Nice front with neat feet, slightly upright in shoulder and much longer cast than 1. She moved well considering her age and was a credit to her handler.

Puppy Bitch (1,1)

Junior Bitch (3,0)

This I felt was the most difficult class of the day for me. 3 completely different type bitches who’s placings could and probably will change all of the time. All 3 had outstanding virtues but for me my 1st place just tipped the other 2.

1 Hannars’ Bokma Kirie at Borovale

Just over 12 month old tan and white bitch with a nice head if just a little wide in skull. She has beautiful small ears and a wicked expression. Good front and neat feet. She has ample bone for a bitch with good shoulder placement and short back maintaining a level topline. She has a very well muscled rear with good angulation and once settled and in her stride moved well, however on occasions her rear movement appeared to be a little erratic.

2 Griffiths’ Yoxella Well in Touch

16 month old white bitch with black ears. This bitch is the polar opposite to 1. She is a much bigger bitch with plenty of bone and substance. She has a good well chiselled head and perfect ears. She had a good but slightly wider front leading to neat feet, good shoulders and a very deep ribcage, however she is longer cast than the others in her class. Moved ok well presented and at ease with her handler

3 Kettles’ Foxindean Radio Ga Ga

Special Beginners Bitch (1,0)

1 Hendersons’ Finleric Snow Quartz

2 year old bitch white with black markings. This bitch wasn’t very happy in the ring today and was reluctant at times to co-operate with her handler. She had a nice head and ears. Straight front and nice feet, slightly upright in shoulder and longer cast. Movement hard to assess but once she put her mind too it could move well just wanted to leave the ring. Just needs a little more encouragement.

Post Graduate Bitch (4,1)

1 Anderson & Watts’ Nisyros Girl Power

2 year old white bitch with tan markings. Very pretty bitch with beautiful head and expression good front and feet she was the shortest coupled bitch today and stood square with very good bone. She had a well angulated rear however her rear movement was not her virtue. Presented well and deserved her placing

2Care & Mutums’ Foxindean Shining Star of Thunderail

2 ½ year old white bitch with black markings. Different type of bitch to 1 much lighter in bone and in need of a little more weight. Again a beautiful head with nice ears. Straight front and neat feet. Longer cast than one but did maintain her topline on the move which she did with ease.

3 Morris’ Sanamaris Serena

Limit Bitch (6,0)

Largest class of the day with lots of top quality bitches to judge, another class where placings could change in an instant.

1 Griffiths’ Yoxella Whoa Black Betty

16 month old white bitch with black head and markings. This bitch was a pleasure to go over. She is the most feminine of bitches with a beautiful head perfect ears and super expression. She is slightly lighter in bone than others but this is of no detriment to the overall picture. She has a great front and neat feet. Good shoulders leading to excellent length of back for her overall size. For me she was the best mover of the day at one with her handler and moved for fun. She was unfortunate to come up against the BCC winner but I am sure she will go on to be very successful RBCC

2 Martins’ Tamedale Fenella

25 month old heavily marked black and white bitch, this bitch has a beautiful head with excellent ears and expression, good front with a beautiful long neck leading to good shoulders. She was slightly longer cast than 1 but still had a good well muscled rear, unfortunately she moved a little close behind. In excellent condition and performed well for her handler.

3 Hughes Forgevale Scaramouche

Open Bitch (4,0)

2 Wilbergs’ Ch. Kanix Quickstep

2 year old white bitch with black head, To put it simply this bitch is beautiful. She is very feminine and a joy to go over on the table. She has a perfect head, ears and expression. Beautiful front and feet. Well laid shoulders leading to a very short back perfect rear angulation and adequately muscled with perfect amount of bone. She is at one with her handler and moves well both front and rear. It is no surprise she is having such a successful career. BCC, BOS

2 Kettles’ Foxindean Future Legend

3 ½ year old tan and white bitch. Presented in excellent condition. Bigger bitch than 1 with a beautiful head, slightly heavy ears but good expression. Super front and feet, good shoulders leading to a short back, plenty of bone well muscled and angulated rear. Tended to be slightly erratic when moving. When stood this bitch was quite the picture and pushed hard for the reserve cc.

3 Moores’ Zetamaz Chasing Rainbows At Fincham

Brace (2,1)

1 Mrs J Jacques Residensets Hands In The Air for Jacqspot (Swed Imp) & Lady Daisy of Jacqspot

Excellent team, double of each other as were father and daughter moved together great in tandem once settled was a pleasure to watch.
