The Smooth Fox Terrier Association Championship Show 16th April 2016

DCC BIS Morris’s SANAMARIS STRANGE MAGIC,
RDCC Brooms & Crouch’s OAXACA DEL BOY WITH ROXWAY
BCC Dams’s TAMEDALE FINESSE
RBCC Morris’s SANAMARIS STEP LIVELY

It is indeed a great honour to be elected President of The Smooth Fox Terrier Association and to those of you who supported my nomination I offer my sincere thanks.
A good entry in this day and age of high costs and other interests, so I would like to thank the exhibitors for that.
While enjoying the classes, I have to say that it was not always easy as there are varying types within the standard, however having said that, when one looks back through nostalgia I suppose this has always been the case, except there were more of the same ‘type’ to choose from, as there were more exhibitors.
I thought that both the Open Dog class & Limit Bitch classes were a challenge to judge, although a nice challenge.

Minor Puppy Dog 2

1st Broom’s ROXWAY ESTIMATE, nearly all white youngster, typical of this prefix, nice outline, good bone, moved straight when settled, given time, everything is there to develop.

2nd Cook’s AARALON AMOS, a striking black & white dog, lighter in build than one, neat ears, pleasing in body, handled & showed well, presented in good condition, pushed the winner, just lost out on front movement today.

Puppy Dog 4(1)

1st Richardson’s LIZONI AAKAASH, a well presented lightly marked black & white dog, has all the essentials, obviously needs time to develop & fill his frame, moved straight & showed like a veteran.

2nd Baker’s ROXWAY EXTRA TIME AT TUSKENRAIDER, not dissimilar in make & shape to his brother in the previous class, when he entered the ring I thought him as the potential winner, however he would only move a few steps at a time & he thought it would be more fun to jump around.

3rd Dolman’s YOXELLA WITHOUT EQUAL AT ZEBEC

Junior Dog 2

1st Griffith’s YOXELLA WRECKING BALL, an impressive all white dog with tan ears, fair length of head with flat skull & strong foreface, I would prefer a touch more lift to his ears, good reach of neck, well made in body, developed strong quarters & good tailset, moved with purpose once settled although he did his best to play up & give his handler a hard time.

2nd Brookes’s ZETAMAZ BLACK SHADOW, a fairly heavily marked black & white, from a lighter mould  than the winner, typical in head & keen expression, level topline, moved straight in front, his rear movement was a touch erratic at times, showed well.

Special Beginners Dog 1

1St Parsons TAMEDALE CEASAR ON WISTOWHILL, a white dog with black head markings, full measure for size, head of fair length, very deep body, good tailset, strong quarters, moved ok.

Graduate Dog 3

1st Brookes’s ZETAMAZ BLACK ON TRACK, white bodied with black head markings, clean head, dark eye, nice make & shape, not overdone, moved well both ways.

2nd Saunders GALLEYSHINE BLACK EMPEROR, a handy sized black & white, typical flat skull, fair reach of neck, short body & good tailset, moved ok behind.

3rd TAMEDALE CEASAR ON WISTOWHILL

Post Graduate Dog 4(1)

1st Breton’s JAMES BOND DU MANOIR SAINT ADRIEN, a very showy tan headed dog, head is of a fair length, well placed ears, dark eye which gives him a keen expression, deep short body, strong behind, moved freely and with drive once settled,

2nd Kettle’s EQUIFOX PERFECT PICKLE, another white bodied one, who put on a good performance, appealing outline, head has a flat skull although I think a touch broad & I would prefer a slightly smaller ear with lift, well laid shoulders, good level topline & correct  tailset, nice quarters, he was well presented & handled.

3rd Hannar’s TAMEDALE SUAREZ

Limit Dog 6(1)

1st Morris’s SANAMARIS STRANGE MAGIC, a very impressive all white dog with a black ear marking, appealed for his overall make & shape, good length of head with flat skull, well placed ears, which gives him the desired expression, stands on beautiful legs & feet, fair reach of neck, well laid shoulders, big spring of rib, strong & shapely quarters & correct tailset, moved straight & with drive, in super coat & condition, a dog that doesn’t need flashy markings to help him, an excellent showman, very pleased to award him the CC and ultimately Best In Show

2nd Brookes ZETAMAZ GERARD DEPARDIEU, a solid black & white who made the most of himself, he was presented in good form, fair head, pleasing in body shape, I would prefer a touch more bone for his size, moved freely.

3rd Merveille’s BELFOX MATADOR

Open Dog 11(1)

1st Brooms & Crouch’s OAXACA DEL BOY WITH ROXWAY, a medium sized white dog with tan head markings, head is very typical, to be picky perhaps a slightly smaller ear & a touch more reach of neck would be my preference, has strength & substance, good straight front with round bone & compact feet, pleasing short compact body, well made quarters, moves true, well presented in great form as one expects from the exhibitor, handled & showed very well, won a strong numerical class & thoroughly deserved the Reserve CC.

2nd Schoneberg’s NERO VD SCHONENBERGEN, a quality black & white who appealed for size & substance, typical masculine in outline, pleasing head & expression, good spring of rib, nice bone, moved straight & showed well.

3rd Jones’s DARLAUR DAKOTA

Veteran Dog or Bitch 4

1st Darby’s CH STARPRIDE DEVIL IN DISGUISE, well known tan & white dog who was very full of himself for his 8 years, very fit & in lovely condition, showed well, moved true eventually!

2nd Griffiths & Jones’s CH YOXELLA WHITE TIE, another top winner in his time and also in good form, today I thought he lacked the animation of one.

3rd Harrison’s ADOHR TUTIE FRUITIE

Minor Puppy Bitch 3

1st Hughes & Butcher’s FORGEVALE THAT’LL DO NICELY, a classy white bodied bitch with tri coloured head, pleasing outline, has all the essentials to do well, moved freely, handled to advantage.

2nd Saunders VENICE VD BISMARCKQUELLE, another black & white, slightly taller in build than one, not so tidy in ear carriage, again an interesting prospect for the future, moved well.

3rd Templeton’s NISYROS ZARKANA AT HUMESTON

Puppy Bitch 6

1st Griffiths’s YOXELLA WISH LIST, a most promising black & white of 11months, liked her feminine outline, head is typical although requires a touch more development, correctly placed ears, big spring of rib, good tailset & shapely quarters, excellent legs & feet, moved freely, handled & showed very well, went on to win Best Puppy In show, the more I looked at her the more I liked her, given time to let nature take its course, I think she is one destined for higher awards.

2nd Anderson & Watt’s NISYROS FLIGHTBOUND, a white bodied bitch with tan head markings that appealed for her outline & type, head has a flat skull, ears need to lift a touch, fair reach of neck, nice round bone, also presented in good form, sound & steady mover, not quite as forward as one.

3rd McShane’s THUNDERCLAP MACKENNA

Junior Bitch 1

1st Davies’s L’MAGALI DU MANOIR SAINT ADRIEN OF MOSVALLEY, an elegant black & white bitch, well chiselled head, her ears are correctly placed although a touch unsettled at times, fair reach of neck, big spring if rib, ample bone, moved freely, looked well in profile.

Special Beginners Bitch 3

1st Bluff’s GOSEL SPANISH DANCER, black headed bitch with a big spring of rib & level toplline, nice dark eye, head a touch too broad, correct tailset, good coat, moved ok.

2nd Kettle’s YOXELLA WARM SPELL, a lightly marked black & white puppy bitch, slightly taller than one, fair length of head, ample bone, small catlike feet, needs time, handled well.

3rd Rogers FALKMERE’S FIRST IMPRESSION

Novice Bitch 2

1st Dams TAMEDALE MYSTIQUE, feminine black & white, typical head well placed ears, short deepish body, good tailset, lacking in ring experience however she is only 15mths so should gain confidence with time.

2nd GOSEL SPANISH DANCER

Graduate Bitch 3

1st Brookes’s ZETAMAZ FRENCH CONNECTION, a medium sized bitch with black marked head & white body, balanced in outline, typical in head although touch heavy in ear, good topline & tailset, moved freely.

2nd Heathcote’s CORRIECOTE SOLAR ECLIPSE, a heavily marked black & white bitch, very neat in outline, would prefer more of her all over.

Post Graduate Bitch 5(1)

1st Breton’s JADE DU MANOIR SAINT ADRIEN, although of French breeding, I thought she very much resembled an old fashioned type of British brood bitch, appealing outline, head has the desired flat skull, dark eye, deep short body, good round bone, strong quarters, moved & showed well.

2nd Niel & Tricquenaux’s BELFOX NECTARINE, a very typical tan & white Belfox smooth, narrow long head with well placed ears, fair reach of neck, short back with correct tailset, moved steadily, handled very well.

3rd ZETAMAZ FRENCH CONNECTION

Limit Bitch 12(4)

1st Morris’s SANAMARIS STEP LIVELY, a quality white bitch with half black marked head, beautiful in outline, liked her head & expression, well made body, the best of legs & feet, in excellent coat & condition, moves freely, shows well although sometimes leans back & spoils her topline, one that can never be over looked and destined for the upper house on today’s form, won this strong limit class & reserve CC, one I would love to own.

2nd Arustamyan’s ZLOTTY DE LA ROSA WITH YOXELLA, an attractive white bitch who was presented in good form, appealing balanced outline, she possesses many breed qualities, moved freely & true which won her this place over some strong opposition, dam of the puppy bitch.

3rd Baker & Jones’s DARLAUR DELAWARE TO TUSKENRAIDER

Open Bitch 3(1)

1st Dams’s TAMEDALE FINESSE, a classy tan & white bitch with many fine attributes, which include her  fair length of head, good foreface & feminine expression, good reach of neck, pleasing in make & shape,  moved freely & straight, one that has developed & matured rather well, handled to advantage to win the CC.

2nd Mullan’s NISYROS CLIMATE CONTROL AT TAMODAN, a nicely proportioned black headed bitch, fair reach of neck, level topline, moving well front & rear, good coat & presentation.
