FOX SMOOTH JUDGE SKC MAY 22

My sincere thanks to the committee of SKC for this appointment to award my first set of CC’s in the breed I grew up with having missed the initial invitation to do them at another show, sadly cancelled through covid. Numerically not the largest entry but some decent quality none the less. Size is a huge factor for me when making decisions, we are all looking for the well made, short backed hunter covering a lot of ground, but this does not come from increasing the overall proportions of the dog and therefore limiting it’s ability to do it’s original job. All mouths were good and only one with dirty teeth.

PD (1)

1 Brookes’ Zetamaz I’m Your Man. Nearly all white 11 mont old with flat narrow head, small dark eye and keen expression, ears well set and used to advantage. Good strength of bone, well laid shoulder and straight front. Deep enough chest, held level topline, well set and carried tail. Moved well when he got over the excitement, considered him for the res DCC on overall merit but came up against age and experience today, he will do well. BPD.

LD (2)

1 McLaughlan’s Nisyros Croddfire At Azrams. Makes an overall well balanced looking dog when standing with lovely straight front and moderate angulation behind. He was a little heavier in the head than my ideal but has chiselled cheeks, moderate stop and small eye. Clean neck and the best cat feet in the entry today. Well muscled with a nicely rounded rear, good dense coat. Would have liked more reach on the move.

2 Davison’s Agria Latin Lover With Belfox. Old fashioned tick marked boy who was longer in back than first, a balanced head with moderate stop, tapered muzzle, small dark eye, well set ears but could use them better. Nice bone, very good tail and set on, moved steadily.

OD (4, 1)

1 Brookes’ Zetamaz Carbon Copy JW ShCM ShCEx OSW. Surprised myself here. Overall a beautiful shape, the best for size in this class, and markings to advantage, flat skull, slight stop, ears on top and alert, small dark eye with keen expression. Muscular neck used on the move, deep chest and very well ribbed, conditioned without being in any way fat, short backed and powerful loins. Quality thick, hard coat, well presented. Excellent tail set and quarters, just toeing in a little, but retained his outline and moved with reach and drive. CC and happy to be told this was a long awaited third – well done!

2 Wilberg’s Ch Kanix Quintus. I thought initially him to be my winner, very well schooled and showy, overall a good shape, head of balanced proportions, small dark eye, ears were very high and close on top of head which was not giving me the overall expression I was looking for. Covering a little more ground than first. Well sloped shoulder, straight front, well off for bone, enough depth of chest and short strong loin. Great tail set and carriage and beautifully presented, well texture hard coat, Res DCC.

3 Schonenberg’s Schneeman v.d. Schonen Bergen. Overall in proportion to himself and pleasant to go over, moved accurately, but too much of him for me.

VD (1)

1 Brookes’ Ch Zetamaz Gerrard Depardieu JW ShCM ShCEx VW. Slightly bigger male, another well balanced, correct dark round eye, ears on top and not too large, clean neck of fair length into decent shoulder, ribbed well back, have seen him move better but he it was a rush for his owner today, would like tighter feet. Worth his title.

PB (1)

1 Hannar Bokma Kirie at Borovale NAF. Loved this 9 month old tan and white bitch. Such an ultra feminine head and expression, small eye, small ears set high and used all the time to advantage. Elegant neck into well laid shoulder, straight front, tight feet, excellent bone with little growing to do overall a great size. Good rib, slight rise over loin into well set and carried tail, well rounded rear moving with drive. Delighted to award her Res CC and BPIB. Also won Puppy Group 3.

PGB (1)

1 Davison’s Tynefox La Vida Loca. Fine boned bitch, dark eye, well tapered muzzle, little heavy in ear, would like a bit more angulation overall, well set tail, carriage a little flatter, soft fine coat, moved happily.

LB (3)

1 Watt & Anderson’s Nisyros Girl Power. A very smart t/w pretty bitch, great head, balanced, chiselled, slight stop, fantastic ears, ultra short, well ribbed and bodied, deep chest, small feet, sire had a very obvious influence in her over shape and movement. Would have liked her a little more confident standing and better reach on the move.

2 Richardson’s Lizoni Hoochie Coochie. She has finer bone for her size being larger and first and longer cast, excellent muscle and well presented coat. A shapely head with feminine expression, well set and used ears, move confidently.

3 Martin’s Tamedale Fenella. Beautiful head on this bitch and shown to best advantage by her handler, stacked she has a good shape and well balance, unfortunately moving too narrow for me today.

OB (4, 1)

1 Ch Kanix Quickstep. For me this lady is going to be hard to look past and has taken a little time to come into her own following some excellent wins by her brother early on. Of course she has a fantastic handler who works her to best advantage but any dog must have the ‘want to’ attitude in order to perform. I couldn’t find anything not to like, she is a beautiful size and shape covering a lot of ground, flat narrow skull, small dark eye, alert, good pigment, small high set ears, clean well muscled neck which she used herself as shown on a slack lead, moderate amount of bone, rounded rear, tail right on top, sloped shouler, slight rise across her firm loin, topline and shape held at all times, finished off with a tight, white well presented coat. Delighted to award her CC and BOB.

2 Hannar Borrowvale Amber. Another feminine bitch, not to overlook. Again, a quality head, good overall shape, moderate bone, straight front, legs and feet correct, well muscled, clear tan colour which has been lacking in some smooths for a while, retained level topline, not quite the coat of first.

3 Brookes’ Zetamaz Crystal Rainbow. This bitch reminded me of one of ours back in the day, feminine and good for size and shape, unfortunately unsettled today due to the rush but has good breed qualities.

VB (1)

1 Nisyros Out Of Control ShCEx. 9 years old lady who stands well and looks good in profile. Neat feminine head, well set ears, would like them little smaller, age showing in eyes a little but good shape. Well muscled and arched neck, level topline, good tail set, moves steadily, BVIB.
