FOX SMOOTH JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 13

SMOOTH FOX TERRIERS

After judging the breed I feel that the overall impressions should be given with the hope that breeders will take note. I found head qualities to be poor. Many had thick skulls with weak muzzles. Generally fronts have improved but hind movement in many is poor. A number of exhibits had really dirty teeth; there is no excuse for this. Finally there are many that are not on the “tiptoe of expectation” that the standard requires. The Smooth is a free standing dog and should have the correct spirit to do so. It is only by being critical that the breed can improve.

PD (4,0)

1. Griffiths’ Yoxella Wiki Leaks. B/w youngster of promise. Fair head, good eyes and ears. Nice body shape with correct tail set. Lovely bone, legs and feet. Moved OK. In good coat and condition. Must not grow on. Best Puppy.

2. Grant’s Zlatan de la Rosa. B/w youngster with good overall shape. Nice bone, good coat and condition. Fair movement. Showed really well. To be critical he is a little thick in skull.

3. Rogers’ Lunafox Lucky Devil

PGD (4,0)

1. Davies’ Bromorganwg Sirius Black. Heavy marked b/w dog of good overall shape. Excels head and expression. Good neck and shoulders, nice bone. Excellent straight front. Moved well. Needs a new jacket and a little more confidence to complete the picture.

2. Clifford’s Migley Llywelyn. T/w of pleasing type. Nice head and expression. Fair body shape. Moved well. In lovely coat and condition. Needs time to mature.

3. Grant’s Zetamaz Fire and Ice.

LD (3,0)

1. Stahle & Nichols Dobelands Licence to Thrill. Predominantly white dog of good body shape. Short coupled, moved OK. In good coat and condition. I would prefer better ears and he is a little thick in skull. Showed really well.

2. Baker’s Tuskenraider Blaze of Glory. T/w dog in lovely bloom. Fair head and ears. A little long cast in body. Fair mover.

3. Chalker’s Cario Dixi Moy.

OD (4,1)

1. Smith, Boyes & Jones’ Am Ch Absolutely Out of Sight. Heavy marked b/w dog so typical of the American type being very showy. Nice head and expression. Moved OK. In good coat and condition. To be critical he is light in bone for his sex. Well handled as one would expect from this handler. DCC, BOB & G3.

2. Schoneberg’s Konrad VD Schonenbergen. Another heavy marked b/w. Different type to winner. Short coupled with good bone, legs and feet. Fair mover. In good coat and condition. Seemed a little affected by the windy conditions. Well handled. Res CC.

3. Morris’ Sanamaris Seventy Seven.

PB (3,1)

1. Brookes Zetamaz Talk of the Town. Quality b/w youngster with lovely head, eye and ears. Nice expression. Lovely movement both fore and aft. Another to be affected by the conditions. This bitch although fine is of great quality. She need to carry more weight and in time could reach the top.

2. Griffiths’ Zandra de la Rosa. White bitch of different type. Not the head of the winner. Good bone, legs and feet. Nice coat and condition. Fair mover.

PGB (4,0)

1. O’Connor’s Chezatree Days of Grace. This t/w bitch I really liked. Lovely overall shape. Good legs and feet. Moved really well. Nice head and expression. On the day she carried too much weight.

2. Clifford’s Rockenhart Molly with Migley. B/w bitch of nice type. Far head & expression. Good coat & condition. Moved OK.

3. Mullan’s Dobelands Almost an Angel at Tamodan.

LB (3,1)

1. Darby’s Dobelands Candy Stripes of Classicway. T/w of nice overall shape. Good head with nice expression. Moved OK. In good coat and condition.

2. Rogers’ Falkmere First Impression. T/w with good body shape. Fair mover. A little plain in head and not the shoulder of winner.

OB (5,2)

1. Mesd Averis’ Dobelands Ice Diva at Saredon. B/w bitch of quality. Very showy. In lovely coat and condition. Has a quality head with nice expression. Good neck and shoulders. Nice body shape, ample bone with good legs and feet. Moved well with drive. Handled to a high standard she pressed the dog all the way. Should easily be made up. BCC

2. Brookes’ Dobelands Hot Totty at Zetamaz. White bitch of quality. She has a beautiful head and expression. Nice body shape. Good bone, legs and feet. Moved well. Occasionally she does not use her tail to advantage which is a pity. Res CC.

3. Rio’s Sparkling Snowflake.
