FOX SMOOTH WELSH KENNEL CLUB 15 Judge: Mr A Wight BEST OF BREED : 4633 THORNTON, Mrs J & BEBBINGTON Mr J R Ch Glendraterra Suzi Kew FOX SMOOTH JUDGE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 15 Smooth Fox Terriers VD (1) 1 Johannessen-Adams’ Trellwyfan Coal, w/b, pleasing head, clear, dark eyes & well placed ears. Head of fair length, sufficient neck, well ribbed & muscled. In very good muscle & coat condition & moved out quite well. MPD (3) 1 Griffith’s Yoxella Wrecking Ball, w/t who I hope has stopped growing. I liked his head, good length, fairly flat, clean in cheek & neat ears. His is well bodied, good wither definition, stands over a fair bit of ground & his tail is high set & well carried. Moved out evenly & soundly; 2 Truley’s Zetamaz Black On Track from Llyunamill, slightly smaller with a well shaped head of decent length, very good eyes & ears, not quite the reach of neck of the winner, but lovely hindquarters & muscletone. Once he settled he was impressive in side action, so positive & driving well; 3 Brooke’s Zetamaz Black Shadow. PD (2,1a) 1 Rundle’s Sidewater Some Buddy, this w/t chap was a bit of a handful to assess moving as he was really on the tiptoe of expectation for anything! Long, lean head with such a flat skull & deep set eyes which are dark & so alive. He is compact in body, has straight forelegs & very tight feet. Could do well when he settles to move out. JD (2) 1 Turley’s Zetamaz Marcel Marceau avec Llyunamill, w/b who won here on his head. It is such a good length & strength in muzzle, eyes fairly deep, small & so bright in expression. Blessed with a long neck set into a decent layback in shoulder, good rib depth & well muscled hindquarters. He covered the ground well in profile; 2 Nicholl’s Zetamaz Jules Verne at Chantelle, super temperament on this chap. Not quite the strength & length of muzzle of the winner but he is well ribbed, is a good size, well set & carried tail, lovely width in upper thigh which I felt could have given him more rear drive as he moved around the ring. PGD (3) 1 Turley’s Tamedale Beethoven at Llyunamill, tri who gives such a very smart outline on the stack. Helped by having such a good reach of neck, well laid shoulders & good front assembly. He stands over a fair bit of ground, his backline is shapely, the tail well set & he is well muscled in hindquarters. Good head with neat ears & lovely expressive eyes; 2 Brookes’ Zetamaz Gerard Depardieu, pleasing head & eye but I would like a tad more length in foreface to complete the picture. Good neck, clean fronted, tight feet, very good neck & head carriage & smooth striding once he got going; 3 Averis’ Saredon Patches. LD (3) 1 RCC, Broom & Crouch’s Oaxaca Del Boy with Roxway, I really liked this w/t chap a lot. Bags of style, stunning headpiece, eyes, ears & expression. Has a very good neck, well defined withers, short in back over a deep rib, high set & well carried tail & good length of thigh. He was in such firm muscle condition, coat dense & harsh to the touch & once settled he moved out soundly. I feel sure he could go all the way with a bit more positive handling; 2 Mullan’s Chezatree The Show Must Go On at Tamodan, good head, especially liked his small, dark & expressive eyes, almost seeking mischief. Neat, well set ears, lovely reach of neck, ribs deep & not over-sprung, not quite the shortness in loin of the winner but he moved out quite truly both ways; 3 Brookes’ Zetamaz Frostbite. OD (3,1) 1 CC, Griffiths’ Yoxella Wiki Leaks, I liked him heaps. Tri who is so balanced in construction. All male head with length & leanness, such a good eye, clean in cheek & carried on such a good neck. He is compact, well bodied & ribbed, excellent upper thighs & so well boned. Quietly handled to get the last ounce out of him, he did everything right on the move. I believe this is his 2nd CC; 2 Jones’ Darlaur Dakota, taller & slightly rangier for me. Impressive on the stack as he uses that reach of neck to advantage, was spotless in jacket & presentation, has really good hindquarters & showed with a real keenness in his expression. MPB (1) A. PB (2,1) 1 BP, Thornton & Bebbington’s Glendraterra Blind Date, b/w of real charm & surely facing a bright future. Typy, shapely, great outline, beautiful headpiece, scores in neck, head carriage & once settled, her side action is so impressive. JB (4) 1 Turley’s Zetamaz Paris By Night avec Llyunamill Pagliacci, style head marking which appealed to me. Handling shows her head to be so good, decent length, flat cheeked & beautiful eyes. She is really well ribbed, short in back, strong loin & well muscled upper thighs. In smashing coat which is dense, & she went around the ring head held high & showing good rear drive; 2 Rundle & Gaydon’s Saredon American Girl, b/w, lean skulled, little stop, not quite the muzzle length & strength of the first but good eyes & ears. Scores in her neck & head carriage, lovely rib depth, well boned forelegs & tight feet. I felt she was stepping short in profile action 3 Arustamyan’s Flair v d Bismarckquelle. PGB (7,2) 1 Crouch, Murray & Horspool’s Oaxaca Racquel, w/t & I see is another from this winning kennel who appealed to me. Again that head quality, strength with an air of good breeding, gorgeous expression, such a length of neck, well laid into good shoulders with well defined withers, ribs deep, strong in loin & good hindquarters. I felt she could have settled a bit more on the move but her sheer breed type won the day; 2 Renshaw’s Saredon Portrait Of Jenny with Westbank, I felt she had not quite the weight of bone of Racquel but her head is clean, one pieced, well shaped dark eyes & very good ears, perhaps could have a little more depth in muzzle. She was in pristine coat & moved out so well; 3 Dams’ Tamedale Ballerina. LB (5,2) 1 RCC, Mullan’s Nisyros Climate Control at Tamodan, w/bl which won this class on the quality of her head, the amount of ground she stands over, her dense jacket & her steady, even stepping profile action. A delight to go over on the table, she looks a titleholder & I will be disappointed if she does not make the upper house. She deserves it! 2 Dams’ Tamedale Finesse, another w/t who appealed so much to me. On the table she is lovely, really balanced powerful yet feminine head. She is well constructed, good rib depth, smooth cheeked, densely coated & spotless. She looks so good when stacked, straight fore limbs & such tight, well knit feet. Ran the winner close but not quite the impressive rear drive of Climate; 3 Baker & Jones’ Darlaur Delaware to Tuskenraider. OB (4,1) 1 CC & BOB, Thornton & Bebbington’s Ch Glendraterra Suzi Kew, quite stunning & impressive both in stance & when moving. She has style, shape, strength yet femininity, wicked expression, ready for anything gaze & in immaculate coat & muscle condition. Once settled she is just like a little hunter, compact & powerful; 2 Clifford’s Rockenhart Molly with Migley, unlucky to meet the winner. She is a quality bitch of lovely type & shape. Clean, one piece head, lovely ears, small stop, very good length in foreface & a good chin. Clean throated, she is well muscled & coated & is sound in action. Just not the vim & vigour/get up & go of the winner, but a pleasure to judge; 3 Hughes & Butcher’s Foregevale Simply A Dream. ALBERT WIGHT
