FOX WIRE CRUFTS 09 FOX TERRIER (WIRE) Judge(s): Mrs E Baldwin Wire Fox Terriers I would like to thank the Crufts committee for inviting me to judge at the worlds greatest dog show. It was indeed an honour to do so. As it has been some time since I last judged, I was disappointed to see so many heavy heads & large eyes, even some light eyes. These do not give the correct expression (full of fire & intelligence). Movement was also bad in a lot of cases. A Wire should at least be able to move. VD (4) 1 Rice & Seymour’s Ir Ch Duchmorn Dusty William, short backed, nice size, good head, dark eye, neat ears, wire coat, moved well, presented well; 2 Coutt’s Laural Boy, neat head, dark eye, good ears, good coat, showed well. Just a shade longer than 1. Moved well; 3 Anderson’s Proveits Billy No Mates, lost on coat. Nice head, moved well enough, good quarters & tailset. PD (1) 1 Russell-Smith’s Davwen Flash Gordon, stood alone but a promising start for owner. Lovely head. I would like a smaller eye. Nice coat. Movement needs to settle & with better trimming will give them both some fun. JD 1 Clark & Browbank’s Ellenside Energetic, nice size, good coat, makes nice shape standing, dark eye, good ears. I would like a better head; 2 Maughan’s Brocolitia Leading Strike, thought he was my winner when he came in the ring. Lovely head, nice eye, nice neck, good shoulders, nice coat, strong quarters. When he moved he moved true but not enjoying his day out. PGD (10) 1 Maughan’s Brocolitia Celtic Warrior, won this class with ease, nice head, dark eye, good shoulders, short back, strong quarters, nice tailset, moved with drive, a nice dog; 2 Chistova’s Dzhassta Top Type, heavier than I like. Head OK, nice dark eye, good ears, nice neck. Heavy in shoulders but lovely coat; 3 Smith’s Lenicka Viking Chief, nice all round dog, in good coat spoilt by his heavy ears. LD (8,2) 1 Schembri’s Travella Sharp Action, lovely head, correct eye, nice ears, good neck let in to good shoulders, short back, very well presented, moved very well; 2 Westwood’s Diamant v d Schonen Bergen, very nice dog to go over, good head, neck, shoulders, short back. Let himself down on the move; 3 Booton’s Boowire Tudor Minstrel, sound honest dog, good head coat, moved OK. Unlucky to meet 1 & 2. OD (6,1) 1 Allen’s Travella Special Feature, very smart dog, to go over him is a joy, lovely head, correct eye, good ears, clean muscular neck of good length set into good shoulders, short level back, deep chest, strong hindquarters, low hocks, tail on top, super coat, floated over ground, put down without a hair out of place. CC & BOB; 2 Westwood’s Ch Eleazar Van Foliny Home, in lovely coat & one I have admired from the ringside, was not disappointed when I got my hands on. Good head, nice eye, good ears, neck, shoulders, short back, good quarters that he used. Pushed winner hard. RCC; 3 Van Weersch’s Fairplay Van Foliny Home, very much of type as 2, just not as good in head. Very well presented; JB 1 Benge’s Proveits Peggy Sue at Romtyke, would like a better head & shorter back. Nice dark eye, moved OK. Better trimming would help. PGB 1 Smith’s Lenicka Dancing Queen, very nice bitch who stood foursquare, nice head, good eye, neck & shoulders, back short enough, showed well, moved well; 2 Grigoryeva’s Greesland Izuminka, heavier than I would like. Short enough & moved OK. Large in eye; 3 Anderson’s Proveits Tickerty Boo, lost out on movement. Head OK, nice ears when she used them, nice coat. LB 1 Munter’s Utterwijk Firefox van Foliny Home, short backed showy bitch, nice head, good eye & ears, clean neck into well laid shoulders, tail on top, moved with drive from her powerful hindquarters, good coat. CC; 2 Westwood’s Diana v d Schonen Bergen, slightly longer cast than 1, lovely head, nice eye, showed well. Needs to settle in movement; 3 Barrett’s Tyquin Ada Adalane, lovely headed bitch, moved well & very well presented. OB 1 Larsen & Frisk’s Sp/Dan/Sw/Norw Ch Chelines La-Remundia Leska, I just could not resist this lovely bitch. Good outline, a joy to go over, moved on loose lead. I was sorry I could only give her the RCC, she was so unlucky to meet my winner; 2 Carrerea & Calonaci’s Travella Special Intent, lovely bitch, so short, nice head & neck, moved really well. Just needs to put more in, her day will come; 3 Westwood’s Valken Violetta, nice short backed bitch, nice head & ears. As her owner would say she looks at you right. Moved OK. I am sure she will have her day. ELAINE BALDWIN
