GLEN OF IMAAL JUDGE BATH 13

Glen of Imaal Terriers

It turned out to be a cold day, but as one would expect the weather made no difference to the Glens although the exhibitors & I were freezing.

A single CC & a weekday meant this was a relatively small entry. Based on what I saw at Bath, the breed is a bit in between at the moment with some of the dogs getting a bit too long & losing a bit of balance. The winners were the ones that best fitted my idea of a typy Glen.

PD (1)

1 Hardy’s Amard High Flyer, just 6 months & a real baby, promising baby, has the makings of a good head, very good rear, good jacket already coming through, super happy temperament, good size for age.

JD (0).

PGD (1)

1 Rogers’ Bregorrey Wannabe Victory by Jeonty, at a difficult age as is obviously a slow developer. Cracking head, super neck. Coat needs to come in & needs to settle a little, it will be interesting to see how he develops.

LD (2)

1 George & Sullivan’s Romainville Billy Whizz, a new one to me & very impressive, lovely looking, great substance, excellent presentation, in fact the best of the day & well handled, good on the move both ways with the correct front for the breed, quite a strong head even for a Glen, came into his own on the move as has a great outline. Still relatively young so there is even better to come, a well deserved RCC & pushed the BOB winner all the way;

2 Holmes’ Bailielands B B Ben, smaller type, not as settled as 1, when he did settle had a good rear.

OD (1)

1 Garner’s Ch Johnny Be Good at Romainville, such a typical Glen, has been a slow burner but is all the better for that, won as a raw puppy under me several years ago & just missed out on the RCC last time I judged the breed. A very typical outline, good head, OK in front, nice outline, OK in rear & good tail, moves steadily. Is very much my type of Glen & a very worthy champion, not the most substantive boy but is still typical. Coat just starting to blow, but the texture & colour was good, well deserved CC & BOB.

PB (1)

1 Rogers’ Jeonty Meme Fern, 9 months & a lovely type, very typical of her breeding, good in front, lovely rear, everything in the right place & as it should be. With maturity should be a good one. BP.

JB (2)

1 Seall’s Bregorrey Madam Defiance, very typical, good proportions demonstrating correct height to length ratio, good head, lovely jacket, very much my sort. Pity it was a single CC show as she was more than worthy of one. BB;

2 Cockayne’s Bregorrey Lady Belleisle, very showy & a good mover. A bit up on the leg at the moment for her length, needs a new jacket, will look better with maturity.

PGB (2)

1 Hannington’s Romainville Uptown Girl, better proportioned of the two in this class & fairly steady shower. Bit narrow behind;

2 George & Sullivan’s Romainville Jean Genie, better headed than 1 but I found her a bit long & rangy & not as relaxed in the ring.

LB (2)

1 Whitehouse & McBrine’s Romainville Kyla at Knockcarrig, quite steady, OK body proportions & not a bad head;

2 George & Sullivan’s Romainville Ellie, more my type but a bit soft in coat & a bit reserved, would look better on the move if she were a bit happier.

OB (2)

1 Seall’s Brockland Belle Bregorrey, 7 years, good breed type & head, lovely new jacket coming through & will look good when it is fully through. Moves a bit close behind. Ended up in a battle with her daughter from junior & had to settle for RBB.
