IRISH BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 22 Judge: Mr Brian Atwell IRISH JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 22 I would like to start by saying thank you to the committee and members of Birmingham Dog Show Society for inviting me to judge our wonderful breed at this show, I would also like to thank all those exhibitors who brought their dogs along for me to judge. A big thank you to my two stewards on the day without whom this would not have been possible, thank you for all your help on the day. 1 Case’s Slaneyfinn No Irish Need Apply. Very well boned dog with a nice tight harsh coat, presented very well, nice almond shaped eye dark in colour, nice tight feet, was a little excited which showed on the move but then he settled down a little. 1 Naylor’s Kerrykeel Riar. 6 mth old puppy showing some good promise, very well boned dog, nice head with good ear set, tail set on nicely, nice harsh coat, moved with ease but the team would benefit from a bit more ring practice. 2 Bradley’s This Way To Montelle. 7 mth old puppy, again one to watch in the future, a little unsettled in movement today compared to first, on another day these two could swap places, nicely boned dog with good expression (plenty between the ears) and in good harsh coat. 1 Brown’s Sujoncla Pawnee River. 9 mth old dog ,good reach of neck with a nice layback in shoulder, in great coat and presented very well, good bone the ears were a little unsettled today, a little loose at the front in movement but should tighten up with age. 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Shamrock Kevin. A very nice headed dog well balanced with a broad flat skull, very nice ears and used them well, in good coat, tail set well on, a little excited on the move but settled more when returning to the line-up. 2 Martin’s Griffin Gunderic. A very well presented dog, a little up in shoulder and loose at the front when on the move, nice dark eye, not the head of one, a little distracted when moving. 1 Cooke’s Ch Star Du Neufmoulin For Montelle (Imp Bel). DCC & BOB. What can I say, this dog has a lovely broad head which shows his Irish expression off well, good ears, a good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders, moved well holding his top line all the way, nice harsh coat, tail set on well, plenty behind, racy outline, very good rear angulation showing good drive when moving, well deserved this class - Dog CC and Best of Breed today. 2 Averis & Barker’s Ch Turith Adonis, RDCC. A nice dog in great condition, good reach of neck into well laid back in shoulders in great coat, good angulation, tail set well on, well placed ears and good eye, for me just not the expression of first, moved well. 1 Maier & Shakeshaft’s Berwyndogs Bryna. A very nice young bitch who moved well with drive, lovely well balanced head with perfect ears giving that lovely expression, nice small dark eye, good bite, well laid back in shoulder, well boned and nice tight feet, handled extremely well and with authority by her young handler. 2 Gomer’s Kerrykeel Cara. A very nice headed bitch, (just preferred the expression of first) well balanced head, good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders well presented, good bone, moved ok. 1 Shan Griffiths’ Sonorra Scarlet Ribbon. Well presented young bitch, all be it a little nervous on the day, which showed in the way she presented her ears, nice small dark eye and in good coat, hopefully she will settle with time. 1 Maier & Shakeshaft’s Berwyndogs Bryna. Please see SBB first. 1 Davidson’s Saredon Miss Davidson. Nice head in balance with a good dark eye, good bite, good reach of neck, in very good coat, good angulation moved very well with drive. 2 Kennedy’s Tippanagh Doogh Devil Dancer. This is a lovely balanced headed bitch with a good bite, dark eyes and good ears, in good coat, a little unsettled today which could be seen in her movement compared to first, another day and not so unsettled could see the places reversed. 1 Karau’s Balirolyat Molly’s A Diva. A very pleasing bitch with a good head, nice flat skull, good reach of neck into good shoulders, coat in good order, tail set on, good bone and nice tight feet, moved with drive and purpose. 2 Hobson’s Erredwiltsir Shine A Light. Very unsettled in the ring today (one of a few today) in good coat with very nice rear angulation, good set of tail, nice feet, a good dark eye, just a pity she was unsettled on the day as I have seen her show herself off better in the past. 1 & RBCC, Oliver’s Kerrykeel Aobheann. Love the head and expression on this bitch, good bite, nice dark eye, flat skull, good reach of neck into well lay back of shoulders, well boned, presented very well, nice tight feet, moved with drive on the move, a pleasure to watch. 1 & BCC, Anderson’s Kerrykeel Daicota. This is another eyecatching bitch with a very racy outline. Well balanced head that stands out, very nice shaped dak eye, good broad skull, long reach of neck into well laid back shoulders, well boned, good spring of rib, nice tight feet and moved very well, in fair coat maybe could have done with another week or so of growth but did not detract from the overall appearance of this girl. 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Pearly Star. 9 yr old bitch who refuses to show her years, lovely head with a nice dark eye, good skull shows off her expression well, good reach of neck into laid back shoulders, tail set on and carried well, in great coat, moved with great drive. 2 Hobson’s Erredwiltsir Irish Bells. Seven and a half yrs old bitch with a nice balanced head, dark eye and good ears, nicely boned in good coat, carried her tail well, just not the movement of first.
