East Of England 14 Judge
|
IRISH EAST OF ENGLAND 14 Judge(s): MISS J M LANNING JP Irish Terriers A breed which only has a small band of fanciers, but over the years has seen it is kept ‘true to type’. It is good to see names like Oudenarde still keeping the flag flying. Whilst we have doyennes of the breed, ‘Keeping The Faith’ as they say, it seems the Irish Mick is in safe hands. I wonder if some are getting on the big size? The Standard is ideally worded regarding height, in that it only suggests an ‘ideal’ height for dog or bitch. Very good for a judge to work with as merely a guide & therefore one has some lee way, in assessing height. A breed now on the health watch. I examined closely pads & any skin for problems, but found none, & have returned the necessary completed form to the KC. Best breeder, Bradley’s Irish Terrier. PD (3) 1 BP, Barker & Averis’ Lakeridge Cahal, very smart outgoing puppy, good eye, moving out well. Could have an interesting career; 2 Pratt’s Terrijay Sound And Vision, good head & furnishings, shade round in eye, but overall a good pattern; 3 Bradley’s Montelle Strike A Vision. JD (2) 1 RCC, Bradley’s Montelle Royal Leader, appeals immediately for his correct racy type. Outgoing with the best of coats, & moving out well. Could be firmer on his front. If his owner can get this right with some good firm road work, he could make the top flight; 2 Wall’s Saredon Red Hot Attraction, good coat, just needs to firm up generally. PGD (1) 1 Redman’s Applerock Lord Stefan, never really settled, & needs to extend on the move, & coat needs to harshen. LD (0). OD (3,1a) 1 CC & BOB, Bradley’s Montelle Vision In Red, another classy one with all the important attributes. The Montelle line has for some years produced a grand type. Champion today I hear. Congratulations; 2 Stahle & Nichol’s Shallcome’s Brian Boru, smart dog, good body, not so tidy in hind action. PB (4) 1 Bower’s Lakeridge Niamh, another good puppy, excellent coat, has time to firm in front; 2 Lucas’ Gabledown Mockingbird, close up, a real baby, good coat, plenty of time here; 3 Seabridge & Goddard’s Sujoncla Tonkawa with Oudenarde. JB (3) 1 & RCC, Cooke’s Montelle Leading Question, sister to Junior dog, same excellent type, can easily make it to the top flight; 2 Lovelace’s Allwyn Therefore Brazan, close up. Another classy one, as one would expect from this owner. All the essentials, well presented, in excellent coat; 3 Bamsey’s Holbam Pearly Star. PGB (1) 1 Bamsey’s Holbam Celtic Kate, correct coat, could be more racy, & was not extending on the move. LB (2) 1 Stahle & Nichol’s Shallcome’s Bronagh, well presented but more length of leg required to balance; 2 Ruffles’ Ruffmar Bronzed Ballerina, similar in type, & not showing to full advantage. OB (3) 1 & BCC, Barker & Averis’ Ch Irvonhill White Rose, has so much going for her & of racy type, moving well. Today her coat was not at its best; 2 Pratt’s Terrijay Whatever, good quality, could be more racy, excellent coat; 3 Hemming’s Kerrykeel Roisin of Courtington. JEAN LANNING |
