IRISH JUDGE LEEDS 18

It was indeed a pleasure to judge at Leeds in the grand setting of Harewood House. My breed today, Irish Terriers - no CC's but an all quality if numerically small entry. The weather was not kind, and perhaps unsettling to some. My thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge, and the exhibitors for bringing their dogs. DCC - Ch September Morn On Ironhill. RBB - Howarth & Looker's Kells Hot Tempest (Imp) Best Puppy - Cooke's Montelle Look Of Gold.

JD (1)

1 Cooke's Montelle Look Of Gold. Stood alone, this quality puppy full of breed type and character. Good length of head and keen eye, full of fun and daring. Ears well set and active. Lovely forehand bone and feet. Correct depth of chest, ribbed up. Pleasing length of body and racy in outline. Pleasing topline through to loin, croup and set on. Excellent quarters. Promising prospect. BP & RBD.

OD (1)

1 Thomas' Lead The Way To Montelle. Classy young dog, full of character and confidence, who is typical and balanced throughout. Pleasing head and expression, flat skull, well set ears which he uses to good effect. Keen expressive eyes, full of Irish character. Good neck, correct body and ribbing. Pleasing racy outline and topline all through to loin, croup and set on. Well presented and good thick hard coat. Moved out well with style. BD & BOB.

JB (2)

1 Howarth & Looker's Kells Hot Tempest (Imp). Lovely quality bitch, typical and of good size. Presents a balanced picture, with correct racy outline and topline. Flat skull, balanced strong muzzle. Good in body and ribbing, well set on and shown in good coat and order. Not as precise on the move coming or going today, moved well on go around. RBB.

2 Cooke's Royal Lady At Montelle. Close up and of good size. Pleasing and typical in outlook. Well made balanced head and keen expressive eyes. Correct body properties and ribbed up. In good harsh coat and order. Not settled on the move today.

OB (3)

1 Barker, Averis & Goddard's Ch September Morn On Ironhill. Lovely quality, typical bitch of good size and proportions. Super balanced head and intense keen expression. Neat ears, used well. Good front and bone, ribbed up, good body and racy in outline. Looked a picture on the stack. Put down to the minute. Moved well on go around and going. BB.

2 Hardman's Bonosue Painted Lady. Typical bitch with pleasing head properties and keen expression. Balanced length of body and ribs back. Racy in outline. Not as firm in topline as first, and not settled on stack or move today. Coat not at its best.
