IRISH JUDGE LEEDS 23
My first time judging Irish Terriers at championship level. Many thanks to the committee for inviting me and many thanks to the exhibitors for the fantastic entry in both numbers and quality. My overall impression was very positive and the quality and presentation was in very good order.
Class 1700 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: ANDERSON, MR KEVIN KERRYKEEL DAMHNAIC – A promising 9 month old, very good for size, I liked his head which was long and in proportion, lovely dark almond shaped eye giving that special look, elegant neck into well laid shoulders, straight front, level topline and high set tail which was carried well, enough rear angulation to give him drive around the ring, moved quite well for one so young, one to watch. Best puppy
Class 1701 JD (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 4666 AVERIS, Mr J & BARKER, Mr A HOLBAM ACE OF SAREDON (AI) – A super youngster up on his toes and presented to a tee. He has a super outline and still to fully mature as his chest could drop a just a touch more, he is very racy throughout, has a lovely head, narrow with enough length, well placed ears but he wasn’t using them to advantage today, good length of neck flowing into excellent well angulated shoulders, firm topline and high set tail, very good rear angulation, moved freely in profile, could tighten a touch more coming towards. Res CC
2nd: 4682 HOWARTH, Mrs Andrea & David & HOWARTH, Mr David. Niddrua Lightning Bolt - Well balanced and all in proportion when viewed in profile, he’s very masculine with good strong bone, strong head, dark eye, straight front, strong topline showing a slight rise over the loin, in good harsh coat, moved well with drive from the rear.

Class 1703 LD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 4687 OLIVER, Mrs K J & OLIVER, Mr A R, Rufous Gubbeen Of Cleeve – Lovely for size and shape, presenting a real racy outline, balanced head with strong teeth and good bite, well set ears although the gusting wind wasn’t helping and his left one went a bit wonky today, very good front with deep chest, strong topline which he kept on the move.
2nd: 4692 SIMONS, Ms Joy, Saredon Red Berry – He belies his six years of age, presented in excellent coat and condition and giving a clean balanced outline, strong head of equal proportions, he has big teeth with a good bite, lovely dark eye giving a good expression, clean neck into well laid shoulders, good topline showing a slight rise over the loin, moderate rear angulation, moved well.
Class 1704 OD (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 4673 COOKE, Mrs Angela, Montelle Follow a Star to Lionwood – An eye catching, impressive male of quality, in super thick harsh coat and overall condition, standing well and all in proportion, it was hard to get past this one. Super head, ears are well set, small dark eye of good shape all giving an excellent expression. Flowing lines throughout this boy giving that racy appearance, good length of neck, well angulated shoulders, his front is as straight as a die and has really good depth of chest, he moved freely and with ease. I was pleased to award him CC & BOB. Pleased to see him pulled out in the final cut in the Terrier Group.
2nd: 4674 HARDMAN, Mr Ian Alfred, Bonosue If's An Illusion – A racy dog of correct proportions, he has a good length of head, super expression, well set and well used ears which were carried well throughout, scores highly in neck and shoulder placement, firm topline which was held as he moved positively in all directions.,

Class 1706 SBD/B (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 4670 CASE, Mr Andrew Francis John Kerrykeel Koire – She was a bit of a handful to say the least. Just 8 months and was having a whale of a time. Good head shape, here ears were set and held well and together with her dark almond shaped eye gave her a lovely feminine expression, good overall body shape, she needs to settle down and mature to give the final picture. Best Special beginners.
Class 1707 PB (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 4676 HARDMAN, Mr Ian Alfred, Bonosue Glorious Song at Spanwise – She’s a promising puppy but still quite immature, which of course we can expect at this age. Lovely for size and presents a pleasing outline when stood. Excellent head shape and proportions, her ears were a bit flighty in the gusting wind, has a lovely small dark eye, strong white teeth, good length of neck, flowing into well laid shoulders and good length of back, straight front, has enough rear angulation and she moved very well for a puppy.
2nd: 4685 LOVELACE, Mrs Marion Rose, Dotsfirth Pearl's a singer – Has a well balanced head, ears are set well and were used, lovely small dark eye. She is of heavier build than 1, has a lovely outline with super depth of chest, I would prefer slightly more length of neck, has good shoulder placement and level topline, moderate rear angulation and moved quite well.
3rd: 4659 ANDERSON, MR KEVIN KERRYKEEL CARAGH
Res: 4670 CASE, Mr Andrew Francis John Kerrykeel Koire
Class 1708 JB (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 4665 AVERIS, Mr J & BARKER, Mr A, SAREDON FLAMBOYANCE – A super feminine youngster right on her tip toes. She has a long clean, narrow head in good proportions, neat ears, small dark eye and an exceptional expression, good length of neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, super straight front, her chest is dropping and has a complementing tuck up, super topline and racy throughout. Was a difficult decision for the top spot and I finally went with the more mature winner of the open class. Res CC
2nd: 4662 ATKIN, Mr R. J. & ATKIN, Mrs J. Holbam Celtic Rose (A.I.) – Lovely for size and shape, shown in good coat and furnishings, she has an excellent eye, small dark and almond in shape, her ears were hovering a touch in the windy conditions, very good length of neck into well laid shoulders, firm topline which she held on the move, well set on tail, has a good turn of stifle which gave her drive around the ring.
3rd: 4689 REDMAN, Mrs Eve Holbam Freya
Res: 4663 ATWELL, Mr/Mrs Brian/Amanda Kerrykeel Beibhinn at Xanwil

1st: 4675 HARDMAN, Mr Ian Alfred, Carliams Red Banshee at Bonosue – A really feminine bitch of good proportions in good harsh coat which was a deep and even colour, small dark eye, she has good ears and used them to advantage giving her a keen expression and on her toes all of the time, to be critical I would like just a bit more of her, best mover in the class.
2nd: 4688 REDMAN, Mrs Eve, Holbam Celtic Little Minx - Presented and handled to advantage, in good coat and furnishings, liked her head and expression although not using her ears, lovely firm topline, good strength to her rear quarters and moved well.

Has a good length of head, well set ears, dark almond eye which presented a lovely expression, has a super neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, chest narrow from the front and of good depth, firm topline of good length which was held on the move, tail well set on, she moved freely and covered the ground with ease. CC
2nd: 4695 WORTLEY, Mr Steve & WORTLEY, Mrs Sandra, Jarabica Grace O'Malley: Presented in excellent condition, with dense harsh coat of even colour, has a lovely head with small dark eye, could have used her ears a little more, well balanced in profile, front as straight as a die, strong level topline and good rear angulation, moved well in all directions.

1st: 4660 ATKIN, Mr R. J. & ATKIN, Mrs J. Ch Holbam Celtic Summer Sh.CM ShCEx - A lovely example of the breed and one I have judged before. She is so well balanced, her neck just flows into well laid shoulders, has a super depth of chest, firm topline and well set on tail, has one of the best rear angulations, she just glides around the ring. Best veteran
2nd: 4680 HOBSON, Mrs Karen, ERREDWILTSIR IRISH BELLS – Another bitch in tip top condition, you wouldn’t think this was the veteran class. Lovely narrow head of good length, well set ears which she was using to advantage, small dark eye all giving a typical expression, good topline not using her tail at times, very good rear angulation which gave her drive around the ring.
