IRISH JUDGE MIDLAND COUNTIES 14

Irish Terriers
Judy Averis was the originally appointed judge and coming so soon after her funeral the day was especially tinged with sadness but nobody would say more than Judy that “The show must go on”; Was she looking down to see Son John take BOB?

I recently listened to a very experienced judge saying that size doesn’t mater in Irish only the head expression –well just to say that in my limited experience the entirety of the standard matters and also soundness is a pre-requisite.
All exhibits had good dentition and most was excellent with strong even teeth and scissor bites– just one where the lower incisors were slightly crowded but still a good bite.

PD (2,0)

1 Howarth’s Mikes Fergus. Very pleasing overall appearance. Well-proportioned body and in very good coat. Small amount of residual white on chest.

2. Davidson’s Sunjoncla Yamparika. Particularly noted the very clean straight front and neat feet.

JD (3,1)

1 Barker & Averis Ch Lakeridge Cahal . Outstanding amongst the males, in best of coat and condition and expertly presented. Excellent outline, best of necks blending into well laid shoulders, tail well set on and carried nicely, good legs and feet, straight front, lovely head and ears -typical Irish expression. Could not possibly be deigned CC; BOB and went on to 2nd in group

2 Mikes Fergus

PGD(1,0)

1 Hulton’s Newguild Pride. Well muscled up –strong male. Particularly note a good bend of stifle. Very desirable dark ears –as so often go along with just a little touch of black remaining in the mussel

LD (1,0)

1 Thomas’s Montelle Royal Leader at Sunnyside. The very racy outline perhaps goes with slightly more length in coupling than considered idea nowadays but still a grand outline. Moved freely. Lovely head and expression.

OD (2,1)

1 Pratt’s Terrijay Sound and Vision. Lacking face furnishing but grand dog with an excellent outline and distinct slight rise over loin. Very good legs and feet. Dark eye helps with expression masculine head but slightly less width in skull would be idea .RCC

PB (2,0)

1 Blower’s Turith Reddy Maid. Really Lovey feminine and typical Irish head and expression. All-round very pleasing and promising puppy BP

2 Lucas’s Gabledown Mockingbird. Another good puppy - nice outline but just slightly preferred the head qualities of the winner.

JB (3,0)

1 Bower’s Lakeridge Niamh. On her toes, animated and in good coat, using her ears to advantage in this class and in the challenge she looked a picture CC

2 Lovelace’s Allwyn Therefore Brazan. Also in good coat, good legs and feet and stifle bend. Tail well set but not quite carrying it as well as winner.

3 Cooke’s Montelle Leading Question

LB (3,0)

1 Bamsey’s Holbam Pearly Star. Top class bitch with all the essentials excellent outline with best of necks and tail set Typical Irish expression.

2 Wooding’s Sunjoncla Dancing Orchid at Woodraith. Very good Irish but lost out to winner on uneven ear carriage, head could be shown to better advantage with a little more trimming practice.

3 Kucza’a Brazan Amber Pageant

OB (3,0)

1 Kenyon’s Wyndam Ciara. Absolutely first rate in all respects. Very sound mover, feminine with racy outline and lovely expression. Close decision between CC winner for RCC.

2 Bamsey’s Holbam Celtic Kate Another excellent Irish in all departments, moved and showed well, rather preferred head quality of winner.

3 Stahle and Nichols’s Shallcome’s Bronagh

Ron Punter judge
