4/12/16
I was delighted to be invited to judge this show. Thank you to exhibitors for giving me a good entry and to the committee for making my day so enjoyable.
Class 1 - Beginners dog or bitch (2 entries, 0 absent)
- A Karau's Kerrykeel Riona. 5 year old bitch with decent head and expression. Good bite. Overall nicely conformed and of correct size. Moved OK. Could have held her tail better on the move. Well handled.
J Ashurst's Golden Arrow
Class 2 - Veteran dog or bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)
- J & J Nevill's Courtington Elena at Rosemonelle. 8 year old bitch in excellent hard condition. Correct size. Good strength of muzzle but would prefer slightly narrower skull if being critical. Good reach of neck and decent layback of shoulder. Deep chest and back of decent length. Correct tail set and carriage. In very good coat and condition. Well presented. Moved very well in front but would prefer her slightly wider behind. Excellent temperament. Showed very well. Best Veteran In Show.
Class 3 - Puppy Dog (1 entered)
- L & N Cox's Holbam Celtic Quinn. Promising 6 month old puppy. Reasonable overall shape with a decent head and good strength of muzzle. Ears erratic. Excellent bite. Moved OK but would benefit from some ringcraft. Trimming could be tidier. Best puppy dog.
Class 4 - Junior Dog (1 entered)
- S Mansfield's Chantalle's Major Finbar. Upstanding young male. Very good layback of shoulder. Overall balanced and well boned. Untidy ears and slightly heavy in skull for me. Correct tail set which was carried well on the move. Moved OK.
Class 5 - no entries
Class 6 - (2 entered)
- L Veillet-Lavallee's Montelle Designed In Gold. Correct size and good hard red coat and condition. Excellent bone and muscle tone. Good to go over. Not exaggerated in any way with a moderately reachy neck, good layback, deep chest and good length of back. Excellent tail carriage. Super strength of muzzle, good bite. Ears Ok and used well. For me a finer width of skull would be preferable. Moved very well both ways when settled. Handled to his advantage. Any easy winner on the day. Best dog, RBIS and BOS.
2. P Bowman's Royalwells Brayan Ember. Another nice type. Good size. Racy appearance. In good coat and well presented and handled. Would prefer a straighter tail and did not always use his topline to his advantage but overall I liked him particularly when watched on the move. Res best dog.
Class 7 - Limit dog (2 entered)
- L Veillet- Lavallee's Montelle Designed in Gold. As above.
2. R & J Atkin's Genesis Khan
Class 8 - Open dog (1 entered)
- E Redman's Applerock Lord Stefan. 6 year old male and lots to like about him. Up to size and untidy ears but a good headed dog, with good strength of muzzle and correct bite. Overall balanced and of good construction with good depth of chest. Moved OK both ways. Presented and shown well.
Class 9 - Puppy bitch (3 entered)
What a super puppy class. Liked all three very much and it turns out they are all litter mates so a super litter for their Breeder.
- C Bamsey's Holbam Celtic Miss Chief. Beautifully feminine 6 month old bitch that showed like a professional. She simply didn't put a foot wrong. Stylish, racy and very typy. Lovely size. Super head and expression. Ears excellent and never stopped using them. Coat coming through well. Balanced throughout and very little to fault when going over her. Used her tail excellently on the moved and when free standing. Very promising indeed and sure to make up but her sister pushed her hard for the class. BPIS.
2.
A & H Bannister's Celtic Nuala
- R & J Atkin's Holbam's Celtic Summer
Class 10 - Junior bitch (4 entered)
- A & H Bannister's Celtic Nuala. Second to my puppy winner but another beautiful bitch puppy. Eye catching to say the least. Racy, elegant and feminine throughout. I loved her make and shape but her ears spoiled the overall picture for me which is why she stood second to her litter mate in the previous class. Very good moving bitch in the best of jackets. Very good strength of muzzle. Super tail carriage. Showed very well. Another one to watch. Went on to win limit bitch which indicates the quality of this baby.
2.
L & K Stahle's Chantalle's Mairead
- S Wortley's Jarabica Tiger Lily
Class 11 - Novice bitch ( 4 entered)
- L & N Cox's Montelle Mona Rossen. Good head and expression. Reasonable outline and not a bad bitch to go over. Could benefit from more attention to her coat and some further ringcraft. Moved OK both ways.
- A Karau's Kerrykeel Riona
- J Ashurst's Golden Arrow
Class 12- post graduate bitch (7 entered)
- S & K Hobson's Erredwiltsir's Irish Bells. Caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. This was a strong class but she was my clear winner. A very good quality, showy bitch. Well boned. Excellent dept of chest. Reachy neck, good length of back, correct shoulder placement. Liked her hind angulation and she had a super tail carriage. Good head and expression. One of the best movers of the day. Handled very well. To be critical I would like slightly more length of leg for overall balance but that does not take away the overall quality of this bitch. Res best bitch.
- P & R Fielding's Erredwiltsir Ruby Red Rose
- S Wortley's Jarabica Tiger Lily
Class 13 - Limit bitch (3 entered)
- A & H Bannister's Celtic Nuala. See junior bitch
- S & E Jones' Montelle Sweet Dream
- L Walker's Montelle Tara Too
Class 14 - Open bitch (2 entered)
- M Ruffles' Holbam Celtic Whisper at Ruffmar. A class of two quality bitches. My winner for me is a lovely representative of the breed. She has a lovely feminine head and expression. Good ears and an excellent bite. Super coat, presentation and condition. In profile she looks the picture. Racy. Good length of neck, deep chest, moderately long back, good angulation. Well carried tail. Very honest and lovely to go over. Excellent hind movement but moved well overall. Showed well today and it was a pleasure to give her BIS. I really think she deserves to make up. BIS.
- J & J Nevill's Rosemonelle Isabella
Class 15 - Best coat and colour (6 entered, 1 withdrawn as BIS winner)
- J & J Nevill's Courtington Elena at Rosemonelle. A real true red coat in the best of hard conditions. Presented to perfection.
- J & J Nevill's Rosemonelle Isabella
- I Hemmings & S Grant's Courtington Storm Angel
