Lakeland Terrier Club Championship Show 12th April 2015

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge this show for a second time. Entries are well down in a lot of breeds but Lakelands seem to be badly affected.

Movement needs attention as does size in a few. It worries me about future judges, will it be worthwhile to book a specialist for just a few dogs? I also get worried about a `numbers` game, it used to be you served an apprenticeship, bred and won. Now all you hear is numbers and seminars. Lakelands have `flat` heads, please trim them as such.

PGD (1)

1ST Leadbetter & Kerrigans Leadstaff Streetlife, clean front, shoulders ok, level topline. Coat OK but short of furnishings today. Well handled.

Limit Dog (3)

1st Schonenbergs Paperman Goldfinger, good head & ears, super front, nice layback of shoulder, level topline, very good tailset & rear angulation. He is top size for me, but all male. In tip top coat & condition & shows very well. CC & BIS.

2nd Johnstons Oregill Hot Pursuit, lovely front, good outline with a lovely tailset, in an ideal world could be a touch larger ears and be a touch bigger. Shows non stop, a handy dog.

3rd Riley`s Brindlefield Mr Bojangles

Open Dog (1)

1st Barker & Averis Saredon Sea Raven, Full measure for size, decent head, good Lakeland ears, clean front, compact & has a very good tailset with shelf behind, in grand coat & condition, but movement both ends let him down today. RCC.

Breeders D/B

1st Oregill Courting Chaos, good head & eye, ears, clean front, level topline, showed well.

MPB (1)

1st Ryans Laketrix Firecracker, top sized puppy, good head, clean front, nice shoulders, firm level topline, super tailset, well angulated, in nice coat & condition for one so young. Moved ok behind, bit loose in front but has time to tighten. Doesn’t need to grow anymore. BPIS.

Junior (1)

1st Evans Ralphina You Cant Catch Me, clean head, ears ok, nice straight front, good shoulders, compact with tail on top, side on she presents a pretty picture, for me she could be sounder and have a smaller eye, in nice trimand one of the few to have the correct coat length today. Well Done.

Novice (1_

1st Johnstons Oregill Rose Gold, Good head & ears, a compact bitch with good tailset, showed well.

PGB (1)

1st Leadbetter & Kerrigans Leadstaff Party Doll, clean front, head ok though ears could settle a bit, good tailset & rear angulation.

LB (1)

1st Johnstons Oregill Hot Gossip, decent head, in an ideal world the ears could be a touch bigger, super front, good layback of shoulder, compact, very good tailset & angulation, she is the correct size and ultra feminine & shows non stop, her coat was in very good order though her flatwork & furnishings need attention, she moves soundly and has great breed type. CC & RBIS. I liked her very much.

OB (2)

1st Schonenbergs Meith Tiennt, bitch I have judged before, nice in most departments, in super trim today, she has matured since having a litter (she is dam to the BIS winner) RCC.

2nd Johnstons Oregill Celtic Rose, in her day & in proper trim, this was a nice bitch, ultra feminine, good front, legs & feet, shows very well.
