LAKELAND TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 13th JULY 2019 Judges Report Ron Punter BIS PAPERMAN TERRA WORTMAN. MPD (1) 1 De Munter’s RICHIE RICH VAN FOLINY HOME. BP. Lovely head and nice to see true Lakeland ears not too small and folding just over top of head –in fact a lovely pup in all aspects. Clean front. Good neck and shoulders together with tail well set on give a very pleasing top line. Moved true. No date of birth given in catalogue but can’t be more than 9 months in this class, will be interesting to see him mature and body up. 1 Johnston’s OREGILL BLACK JACK. Solid colour dogs, blacks in particular can tend to look long so it’s just as well that this one is short coupled. Coat rather long and should be tighter to body but it is hard textured. Straight front. Good neck and shoulders. Moved well. Just a bit heavy in head for me but a good strong bite comes with it. 1 Connell & Benyon’s KELDERTHWAITE ASTRIX THE GAUL. RCC. Red . Nice head and expression, Nice outline. When under control stood on table presents a good stifle bend but tending to stretch out when stood on floor and distracted. Pulled himself together and presented well in the challenge. 2 TURFLINDIE DIAMOND DEALER. Red. A well balanced short coupled dog just a bit heavier in head that winner and bite just in. 1 Schoneberg’s PAPERMAN TERRA WORTMAN. DCC BIS. Red. Free moving dog, very well presented to show off his refined head and excellent outline. Good quarters and tail bang on. Bite could be stronger but acceptable. Moved out confidently in the challenge with the best of parallel action and drive which gave him the edge for BOB. 2 Johnston’s ORGILL HOT PURSUIT. Well bodied short cobby type. Lot to like about him but ears flying and a bit unsteady on the move.
1 Cook’s TURFLINDE BLUE MOON AT TERRAHAWK. BOSP. Nice well bodied pup especially noted neat feet. Ears more typical Lakeland than second. 2 Walkers’s OREGILL SUMMER STORM Nice little feminine bitch, plenty of time to body up. Ears a bit small and open. 1 Johnston’s OREGILL OLD GOLD. Quality, refined bitch but well-muscled Tail well set on. Good bend of stifle with low hocks. Straight front. A little unsettled on the move. 2 T BLUE MOON AT T. 1 SUMMER STORM 1 Leadbeater & Keerigan’s LEADSTAFFS MORE THAN THIS. Very sound and typical Black and Tan. Compact and stylish but a bit shy. 1 De Munter’s QUEENMARY VAN FOLINY HOME. RCC. Lovely outline, best of tail sets and quarters. Expression and ears first class. Didn’t stand herself up too well in the challenge but very much in contention. 2 Schoneberg’s PAPERMAN MOONSHINE. Striking red bitch, short and well proportioned. Just edged out by smaller ears than winner and not as much behind tail. 3 Connell & Smith’s SONORRA WISHFUL SPIRIT 1 Schoeberg’s PAPERMAN JULIA. BCC BOS & RBIS. She is the same way breed as the BIS but a year older –not surprising therefore that she is similar in type though a different colour and her saddle pattern makes her look shorter. I particularly noted how well her neck blends into shoulder placement to produce the best of top lines. not in show trim 1 Rose’s THAT’S MY HARRY. Well yes “not in show trim” but he’s 11 years old and looking well on it. He has a nice Lakeland head is well proportioned, typical and very sound.
