Lakeland Terriers

Although the numbers of our breed seem to be in decline at these shows, there were some quality exhibits.

Certain aspects of the breed though seem to be changing, eg size, varying from the Standard, overall shape, differing from true Lakeland characteristics, along with other minor faults of which need not to be classified as these are known to exhibitors.

PD & JD (0).

PGD (3)

1 Ross & Johnson’s Luble Bomberang Barbel at Monsoonmoon, nice shaped dog, plenty to like, good shoulder placement, level topline, tail on top, decent bend of stifle, moved well both fore & aft;

2 Clark & Wilkinson’s Brindlefiel Mr Bojangles, good aspects, well laid back shoulders, compact. Coat could be a little harsher. Decent topline, moved OK, ears sat well to cheeks, good drive on move; 3 Graham’s Highmoor Unchanged Melody at Stansted.

LD (2)

1 Ashe’s Ebrooks Red Robbo, red, nicely put down, stood well, good topline. Little rangy. Well set on, nice bend of stifle, front shoulder placement OK. Could have done better but played owner up when on the move. Hard to assess movement;

2 Malzoni’s Saredon Sea Raven, nice sized dog, good coat, put down well, level topline, nice ear carriage & tailset. Tended to pull when on the move but will improve with time.

OD (3)

1 McCallum’s Glentops Back In Time, typical Lakeland, correct size, compact, put down well, in good coat, well textured, nice level topline kept on the move, good mouth, well placed shoulders, substantial bone, nice tailset, good bend of stifle giving power covering the ground. CC;

2 Davani’s Ch Kebulak Man After Midnight, a lot to like. A little short of coat made him look long in back. Good bend of stifle, low hocks, strong secomd thigh. Would like a better tail carriage, nevertheless moved well across the ground. RCC;

3 Anderson’s Corrievackie Garnet.

VD (1)

1 C Garnet, for a dog of its age in real good fettle. In good coat, enjoys showing, size OK, a credit to owner. BV.

PB (1)

1 Johnson’s Oregil Courting Chaos, real classy young puppy, put down well, good ear carriage, laid well, correct mouth, correct front shoulder placement, level topline into nice bend of stifle, moved well for a puppy. Definitely one to watch in future. BP.

JB (0).

PGB (3)

1 Baldwin’s Robelroy Lika, nice to see a Lakeland from this kennel, put down well, correct amount of coat of nice texture, well placed ears, nice flow to neck into level topline, tail on top. A lot to like, could be a contender in future;

2 Johnson’s Oregil Rihanna, something a little different, a black Lakeland, nicely presented, all the attributes of a Lakeland, good ear carriage, tailset OK, nice mouth. Just would like a little more of her. Moved OK.

LB (3)

1 Ashe’s Ebrooks Red Rose, r/wheaten, put down well, good textured coat, correct scissor bite, nice eye, flat skull, well set ears of correct proportion, flowing neckline into nice shoulder placement, level topline into good tailset, low hocks, moved well, correct gait, kept topline. CC & BOB;

2 Whitehead & Connell’s Stanstead Dita Von Teese, put down well, nice textured coat, well placed ears, correct mouth, Lakeland size, tail on top, good angulation. A little heavy. Moved well. Lot to like;

3 Anderson’s Corrievackie Opal.

OB (3)

1 Stoneberg’s Meiths Tenny, classy looking bitch, a little fine in skull but well placed ear carriage. Good sweep of neck into level topline, decent tailset, moved OK. Up to size but carries it well, can cover ground on the move. RCC;

2 Johnson’s Oregil Oprah, black, better proportioned, nice head & ears, correct mouth, well bodied, nice tailset, good angulation, moved OK both to & fro;

3 C Opal.
