LAKELAND JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 15

Lakeland Terriers

I looked forward to this appointment at my favourite show & certainly enjoyed my day. There were only a few absentees which was pleasing. The quality was of the same standard as when I last judged this breed. However I found no irregular bites this time. Size is of concern with some marked variations from the Standard. Presentation & handling was good. I was very pleased with my winners – tight decisions & I am sure they will change places many times.

Two very nice puppies who should do well. Both need to settle.

1 Vicker’s Lenny Farran at Eskwyre, very smart b/t, well presented & shown in excellent coat. Well balanced head, dark eye & ears set in the correct position. Good layback of shoulder, level topline, tail on top, strong quarters. BP;

2 Averis & Barker’s Saredon Line Of Fire, well presented grizzle of nice size & balance, straight front & good rear angulation, just preferred the head of my winner.

JD (1)

1 Schonberg’s Paperman Goldfinger, grizzle shown in good coat & well presented. Clean head, dark eye, pleasing expression, good neck & layback of shoulder. Should do well but does need to settle, moved OK.

PGD (4,2a)

1 Anderson’s Oregill Hot Rod to Corrievackie, clean head & well placed ears, nicely presented & in good coat. Moved & showed well;

2 Kerrigan & Leadbeater’s Leadstaff Street Life, used his ears well, balanced but up to size, a little short of coat today & he does need to be more settled.

LD (3)

1 Vicker’s Ellenside War Admiral at Eskwyre, sire of my BP, this very smart & well presented b/t was shown in lovely condition. Typical head & expression relative to this breed. Good through neck, shoulder & topline with the tail on top & plenty behind. Moved & showed well. Close call between him & my eventual CC winner. RCC;

2 Riley’s Brindlefield Mr Bojangles, grizzle, well presented & in good coat, nicely balanced with level topline, good head & expression, stood a little wide in front otherwise presented a pleasing picture;

3 Anderson’s Red Hot Rod to Corrievackie.

OD (2)

1 Averis & Barker’s Saredon Sea Raven, lovely b/t, shown in excellent condition, top size but had all the characteristics I look for in this breed, balanced, clean head of correct proportions & great expression, tail on top with strong quarters. Moved & showed well. I have judged this dog before, he did not disappoint me then & he certainly did not today. Pleased to award him the CC;

2 Chong’s Multi/Int Ch Saredon Rocket Man, another who I judged when he was 6 months old. A promising pup at that time. Has a good overall balance but a little light in bone for me & coat not at its best.

MPB (2)

1 Greenway’s Rayfos Ring Of Fire, nicely balanced grizzle of correct size, clean balanced head with pleasing expression, straight front, good rear angulation. Still very giddy but moved well when she settled. Liked her a lot;

2 Ryan’s Laketrix Fire Cracker, another promising pup shown in lovely condition. Pleasing head & expression, nicely balanced, level topline, tail well set on. Does not need to grow on.

JB (4,1)

1 Cartwright & Evans’ Cwmtynewydd Celtic Sunrise, a nicely balanced, well presented & of correct proportions, good layback of shoulder, tail well set on, moved well;

2 Evans’ Ralphina You Can’t Catch Me, a well presented balanced grizzle with a lovely harsh jacket, nice head but would benefit from a little more hair over the eye which would improve the expression. Stood a little wide in front;

3 Burgoine & Woodward’s Ralphina Shine On Me.

PGB (3)

1 De Munter & Uiterwijk’s Maggie May Van Foliny Home, smart well balanced red, nice neck & correctly placed shoulders, clean head, dark eye & pleasing expression. Moved OK;

2 Baldwin’s Robelroy Georgina, pretty bitch with balanced head & well placed ears. Good reach of neck, correct body proportions with tail on top. Would like to see her more settled on the move;

3 Mackenzie Goldens Uldale Plover.

LB (1)

1 Burgoine & Woodward’s Ralphina Follow The Rainbow to Jelliroll, balanced grizzle, nice head, level topline, straight front. Coat not at its best. Very well handled.

OB (4)

A class of quality bitches, my principal winners could change places on another day.

1 Averis & Barker’s Saredon Don’t Stop Me Now, a very feminine bitch shown in excellent condition & with all the attributes I look for in this breed. Pretty balanced head, dark eye, well placed ears giving pleasing expression. Correct body proportions, straight front, strong quarters with tail well set on & of nice size. Moved & showed very well. Pleased to award her the CC & BOB;

2 Vicker’s Ch Riva Ridge of Eskwyre, another lovely well presented grizzle bitch who I have admired. She has all the attributes of the winner but today did not show as well as I have seen her in the past but certainly did enough to be awarded the RCC;

3 Schoneberg’s Mieth’s Tenny.
