AIREDAE JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 16

Airedale Terriers

I wish to thank the officers & committee for their kind invitation to judge my breed at their show. Thanks also go to all the exhibitors for allowing me to judge their dogs & give my opinion on them. I was very pleased with the dogs who I gave top honours to. I found all mouths to be correct but was disappointed with movement & lack of muscle in some of the exhibits. Like most terrier breeds the Airedale was bred to carry out a job of work & without muscle & movement it is doubtful that they would have been gainfully employed.

PD (3)

1 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Wish List, long head with correct proportions, ears well set giving good expression, neck of good length into well laid shoulder, a little slack in topline but time will correct this, good bend of stifle & hocks well let down, moved well. RCC;

2 Toulson’s Toulstork Levity Lester, showy young dog with head of good length, strong neck into fair shoulders, topline needs to strengthen but has time on his side, good tailset, moved a little close behind;

3 Allen’s Malolgi Freddy Star.

JD (1)

1 Oates’ Stabuks Mr Bojangles, strong dog with plenty of terrier spirit, head of fair length with well set ears, would prefer a darker eye, moderate length of neck, strong topline, good tailset, nice harsh jacket, moved OK.

LD (2)

1 Burkin’s Nedella Flash Opal at Raffinato, strong head & fair length of neck, short strong back held well on the move, strongly muscled hindquarters, moved well;

2 Hill’s Crillee Catch Of The Day with Gillaire, lovely head on this dog, with good length of neck into well laid back shoulder, lacking in confidence for a hands on assessment. Moved OK.

OD (4,2)

1 Atkinson’s Jokyl Party Popper, loved the movement on this dog, he was so sound & true both ways, long lean head without losing any strength of foreface, ears well set, clean neck of good length into fine shoulders, level topline held steady on the move, tail on top with plenty behind, good bend of stifle & hocks well let down, well presented. CC;

2 Jackson & Swash’s Jokyl Truly Noble, handsome young dog, excellent head with well set ears, nice flow of neck into good shoulders, strong topline with tail well set on, moderate bend of stifle, harsh jacket, moved OK.

VD (1)

1 Moore’s Jokyl Time After Time, 7 years old & so well muscled, decent head, neck & shoulders, level topline, strong hindquarters & hocks well let down, moved well. BV, pleased to see him go VG4.
