MIDLAND COUNTIES AIREDALE TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – 12 JULY 2015

Thank you to the Committee for the wonderful hospitality shown to us and our friend Vasili Tyurin visiting from Russia.  We thoroughly enjoyed our day.  A special thank you to the stewards, John and Sue Seabridge, for making the day run so smoothly.  Also, I would like to thank those exhibitors who took my decisions so sportingly and to those that felt disappointment I am quite happy to discuss my decisions face to face.   Good toplines were difficult to find as was upstanding terrier character.  Mouths were good. Two bitches in season hence the washing of hands!

MPD (1):

1. Hill , Crillee Catch of the Day.  Very promising puppy. Lovely head, with dark eye and well carried ears giving good expression.  Good length of neck into lay of shoulder.  Topline good with nice tailset.  Good rear angulation.  Excellent coat and colour.   Alert and taking interest in everything.   Well presented and handled.  Went well for a youngster on his own in the ring.

PD (3/1ab):

1.Toulson, Toulsyork King Lincoln.  A lovely puppy enjoying his day.  Head of good length with no cheekiness.  Slightly erratic with his ears but well placed when settled, giving good expression.  Nicely shaped, dark eye.  Good reach of neck into lay of shoulder, level topline with good tailset.  Good front and rear angulation.  Moved steady. On his toes for the challenge for BPIS.

2. Jackson & Swash, Jokyl Truly Noble.  Going through the stage of not being cooperative.  Good outline.  Super head and expression with good ear placement and he used them well.  Good coat and colour.  Shoulders OK.  Not as steady in movement as one.  An upstanding boy and when he gets his act together can show to advantage.

JD: (4/1ab):

1 Burkin, Nedella Flash Opal.  An alert boy and on his toes which showed his lovely outline.  Good coat and colour.  Nice head although could be finer. His well placed ears give a great expression.  Level, short back with excellent tailset.  Good rear angulation.  Moved steady  and true both ways keeping his topline.  Slightly finer trimming in places would finish the picture.

2. Collins, Colldale Son of Adventurer.  Good coat and colour neatly presented.  Excellent head although expression spoiled by low set ears which gives him the air of being bored.  Longer cast than one.  Stacked well but on the move didn’t hold his topline and would prefer better flow of neck into shoulder.  Would prefer a better tailset.  Lacked drive and crabbed when going away.   Won over 3 on head and front movement.

3. Johnston, Nedella Desert Flame at Bravados.

PGD: (2)

1. Hampton & Hall, Muliebrity Symphony.   Upstanding dog that came into the ring with attitude.  Super outline.  Good reach of neck into nice shoulder flowing into an excellent topline and tailset.  Good coat and colour presented well.  Good length of head in proportion to body but would prefer it finer.  Super eye and ear placement. Would like more of him but he is all male.

2. Markwick, Crillee Catcher in the Rye.  Good outline with good rear angulation.  Good head and expression from nice eye and well carried ears.  Did not move as well as 1.  Well handled.  Finer trimming would help.

LD: (5/2ab)

1. Callon & Callon-Winn, Sonorra Christmas Cracker from Russtam.  Full of character, on his toes and came into the ring owning it.  Head of good length with excellent ear carriage and expression.  Moderate length of neck.  Would prefer a better lay of shoulder as at times his topline sloped to the rear spoiling the outline.  Ultra short back.  Good tailset with nice rear angulation.  Steady rear movement but not so true in front.   Good coat and colour and well presented.  Bit of a handful for his owner.

2. Morris, Nedella Gambling Man.  Upstanding dog with nice outline and on his toes, although at times he loses his outline and looks slack.  Good length of head with dark eye. Ear placement could be better.  Good shoulder and rear angulation.  On moving lost his outline and looked slack and lacked drive.

3. Crillee Catcher in the Rye.

OD: (5)

1. Vickers, Catch Me if You Can at Jodean.  Super outline enhanced by excellent presentation.  Good head with dark eye and ear placement giving excellent expression.  Good length of neck into good shoulders which lead into a level topline and excellent tail carriage.  Front straight and clean. Good rear angulation.  His movement both ways was the best on the day and on the go round he kept his topline.  He was on his toes and the only point I would fault him on is his size, but on the day his other qualities outweighed this.  Well handled and deserved the DCC/RBIS.  Delighted to learn it was his third.

2. Jackson & Swash, Ch Jokyl The Party Line. Good sized dog.  Beautiful clean head with well placed ears, giving an excellent expression.  Good reach of neck into good shoulders.  Would prefer a firmer topline and tailset.  Good rear angulation.  Not really putting his all in today, but sparkled at the right time to win RDCC.  Won over 3 on his cleaner head and front.

3. Hacker & Jenkins Ch Sheriffs Red Beret.

VD: (1)

Jackson & Swash, Ch Jokyl Captain Scarlet.  Now 9.5 years of age and in excellent coat and condition.  The best of heads, showing no coarseness, with excellent expression and ear carriage.  Good length of neck into shoulder and level topline with good tailset.   Still has his good rear angulation.  Moved well although showing his age.  He has passed on his qualities to his offspring.

MPB: (2/1ab)

1. Fernandez & Purnell Jokyl Gold Star.  What a lovely promising puppy.  The best of heads and expression, although would prefer a neater eye.  Lovely neck into well laid shoulder leading into an excellent topline and tailset.  Good front and rear angulation.  Her quality coat was well presented.   A good team for the future.  She had had a busy weekend and was just looking a bit tired in the BP challenge. RBPIS.

PB: (3/1ab)
Another two lovely puppies.

1 Brown, Jokyl Noble Princess for Oceanaire.  Lovely balanced  head, clean cheeks with no coarseness.  Well carried ears with dark eye giving good expression.  Good length of neck into shoulder and level topline.  Good rear angulation.  Excellent coat colour of good texture and well presented.  Moved steady and showed well.  Nicely handled.  Looks more mature than 2.

2. Turner, Jokyl Star Struck.  Showing lots of promise.  Excellent head and expression from good eye and ear carriage.  Good tailset and rear angulation.  Good presentation and handling.  At this stage preferred the flow of neck into shoulder and movement of 1.

JB:  (3)

1. Vickers, Jodean Book of Dreams.  Lovely outline.  Good head and arched neck into good shoulder and excellent topline and tailset  Plenty behind the tail.  Good expression from well carried ears and dark eye.  Good rear angulation.  Her rear movement is good, slightly throws her front.

2. Jackson & Swash, Jokyl Her Ladyship. 10 month puppy.  Good head with high ear carriage. Very square with good topline and tailset. Short backed with good spring of rib. Nice shoulder and good rear angulation.  On her toes and alert.  Her movement needs to improve, but forgave her this as she is young.  Won over 3 on her expression, shorter back and animation.

3. Colldale Adventuress Girl.

NB: (1)

1. Brown, Jokyl Noble Princess for Oceanaire.

PGB: (4)

1. Hampton & Hall, Muliebrity Harmony.  Quality bitch with good head giving excellent expression from neat dark eye and sharp ears.  On her toes showing her lovely outline.  Excellent level topline and tailset.  Good front and rear angulation.  Good coat and colour.  Good rear movement, would like more positive front movement. RBCC.

2. Miller, Lakeaire Mandy Mauve. Nice bitch but would prefer more of her.  Balanced head with sweet alert expression.  Flow of neck into topline is spoilt by trimming. Topline good but would prefer better tailset. Moved steady.  Won over 3 on her animation and expression.

3 Hilton, Colldale High Flyer of Touessrok.

LB: (6/1abs).

1 Vickers, Saredon Barley Wine at Eskwyre. Very pretty outline.  Attentive bitch.  Lovely head and ear placement.  Nice eye.  Good reach of neck into shoulder.  Topline good as is her tailset.  Good front and rear angulation.  Steady front movement and excels in rear movement. Well presented.

2. Keay, Jaymitch Jaunty Panachon. Thought she was my winner on entering the ring but she just lacks the terrier spirit to pull herself together and emphasise her many good points.  Good outline.  Lovely head and expression from dark eye and nice ear placement.  Enough neck into shoulder,  Good topline and tailset  which leads into nice rear angulation.  Good presentation and steady mover.  Won over 3 on her neater front.

3. Toulson, Toulsyork Ha Ha Hope.

OB: (5).

1. Jackson & Swash, Ch. Jokyl Simply Red.  I have liked this girl from a youngster and today she didn’t disappoint.  She has now matured into a really good b. and when she shows and sparkles pulls herself together to make a lovely picture.  Head of good proportions with nicely carried ears and neat eye, giving a good expression.  Good reach of neck into good lay of shoulder and level topline.  Good  spring of rib.  Excellent tailset with good rear angulation.  Steady mover. Quality coat and colour. BCC and BIS.

2. Turner, Crillee Cool Scarlet. Another bitch that when she is on her toes gives a very pretty outline. Excellent head and expression from good eye and ear carriage. Lovely flow of neck into shoulder. Clean front and good rear angulation but on the move loses topline. Won over 3 on her head and reach of neck into shoulder.

3. Turner, Ch. Crillee Carry on Baby.
