PARSON RUSSELL BOSTON 18 Judge(s): MATT SMITH BOSTON DCS- Parson Russell Terriers 7/1/18 Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at the first Championship show of the year and thank you to exhibitors for the pleasing entry. I wouldn't often say this about PRT's but I felt the strength in the entry was in the males today overall. Coats were very variable both in quality and texture. Although this is a “working terrier” it is still a dog show and I do like to see a dog that wants to show itself to advantage. There were a few dirty teeth and long nails. Temperaments were all sound. Three promising puppies. 1st Bigland's Heythrop Task Master, raw 6 month old puppy, in his undercoat today and was tiring for the best puppy challenge but should have a bright future. Masculine badger marked tan head of good wedge shape with well set ears and eyes. Well off for neck with well laid shoulder. Correct front with firm pasterns and good feet. Well ribbed back, good tail set and carriage. Moved well coming and going, profile movement should firm up as he matures. 2nd Young and King's Chadbrook Honey Badger just 7 month old many of the virtues of 1, touch more mature and heavier set, will be interested to see how he grows on. 3rd Hance's Riosset Right to Roam. 1st Broadberry's Ratscallion Son of a Gun, 11 month old strong coloured tri dog. Up on the leg, would like to see more body to give a bit more of a balanced picture. Good head, neck and shoulder, comfortably spannable. Moved well when settled. 2nd Hance's Riosset Right to Roam, only just 6 month old all white puppy. Hard to judge on the table and on the move but there is plenty of promise. Liked him for balance and overall outline, good for size, good quarters. 3rd Hall's Frithgarth Stone Meadow. 1st Bigland's Heythrop Taggert. Really liked this 19 month old dog. Super for size and balance. Excellent smooth coat with good pelt. Correct eye, ear and wedge shaped head. Lovely length of neck into well laid shoulder into good topline. Narrow front with enough upper arm standing on super, tight feet. Strong hindquarters allowing him to stride out. Unfortunately gave his handler a hard time in the challenge. Very strong class, could easily swap places on another day. 1st Bigland's Ardencote Tutor with Heythrop. Two year old lightly broken tan & white dog in super condition. Lovely neck and shoulder. Correct topline with rise over the loin. Super for size and easily spannable. Moved well all ways. BD & BOB. 2nd Blair & Hadley's Cleeve Hill Kasper. Mature dog who has done well under me in the past. Still in very good condition with excellent movement and showing himself to advantage. Well handled. RBD. 3rd Newport's Digaden Pitch Perfect. Not the easiest class to judge. 1st Young & King's Chadbrook Elka. 11 month old tan and white bitch. Lovely head. Excellent eye and ear. Good neck and shoulder. Comfortable span. Well ribbed back, handled and moved well, little short in coat today. BPIB 2nd Broadberry's Ratscallion Top Gun. 11 month old tricolour. Lovely size. Pretty feminine head. Well balanced with good overall outline, moved well in profile. 3rd Brown & Grange's Afinlea Wood Leopard. 1st Newport's Digaden Runner Bean. 15 month old tan and white bitch. Absolutely loved this bitch's very attractive well proportioned head. Lovely eye, correct ear set and carriage. Good neck and well laid shoulder. Correct return of upper arm with nice straight front. Good for size and easily spannable. Moved and handled well. RBB. 2nd Walls' Prima Donna Roxy Cool. Veteran bitch in excellent condition. Lovely wedge shaped head, okay in neck and shoulder. Well balanced, spannable with good quarters. Moved and handled with purpose. 3rd Newstead's Proveits Poachers Choice. 1st Tinegate's Milvinae All Aboard. Beautiful feminine headed 4 year old tri bitch. Excellent size. Best of fronts with lovely feet. Good neck and shoulder, well balanced with a rise over the loin. Correct tailset and carriage. Easily spannable. Loved her for type. Sound mover and well handled. BB. 2nd Brown & Grange's Afinlea Speckled Wood. Lightly broken coated tan and white bitch. Good head. Correct neck and shoulder. Very sound movement. |
