PARSON RUSSELL BOURNEMOUTH 21 Judge: Mrs K Collin PARSON RUSSELL JUDGE BOURNEMOUTH 21 It is 2 years since I have been to a show, and least said about those the better, but it did raise a few questions. What entry would there be? Well it was a good entry for a show so far south on a Monday, although there were some absentees. How would people feel about shaking hands? We did it totally naturally. Should I touch dogs mouths? I didn’t, although it felt very odd, but in some ways I think this is something we should consider more anyway not just in the current times, as it’s a very good way of spreading any disease. (I’m sure that will cause comment.) Quite a lot of the dogs and a fair few exhibitors weren’t known to me, it’s good to see new faces and I hope to see you again. My entry was very varied in size, shape, coat, and markings. I like bitches to be feminine and dogs masculine, but overall both should still be workmanlike. I am concerned about lack of pelts, flexibility through ribs, and the slight arch over the loin was mainly absent – it may be a strange breed characteristic but it’s there in the standard and I have said before that without it we are in danger firstly of getting level backs/loins and then dropping off, which a couple here did. Quite a lot of the entry were a little silly but that may have been the wind or just a result of the limitations on socialising, getting to shows etc. Thank you though to all my exhibitors, and many thanks to my stewards who kept the ring so well run. 1 Manson’s Foxfur Macallan. 7 months. Immaculately turned out, traditionally marked puppy. Very confident for his age and in good condition all through with good teeth and harsh coat. My first impression was how similar these two were, and then found out that they are half-brothers. Both quite tall, a little immature being quite rangy and with ticking and both with black in their colouring. They both had good teeth. 1 Bowden’s Mindlen Mahican Is Chellowside.12 mths. Nice tight feet and a better pelt than first appeared. 2 Pell’s Hoolmark Ringo Starr At Olliebark.14 mths. On first impression liked him but he was being a little silly today. 1 Hughes’ Jappatin Statesman Of Ruffntuff (IKC). 4 years. Very much my type but he wasn’t being very co-operative which cost him the Res CC. Has an excellent pelt, good ears in both set and thickness. Nice tight feet, very white but with dark pigment. Just spannable. When he wants his movement is wonderful. 2 Sorrell’s Tegtaran Tarka Treble. 21 mths, rangier type but still nicely balanced, traditionally marked. 1 Hobson’s Partridgdale Little Rock. 2 years old. Another who is better when left to show himself. Overall well balanced. Lovely head, adequate bone, nice rear end. 1 Collis’ Riplington See Your Dreams. DCC. 2 years old. Absolutely love his very dark head; his expression, and that he looks a ‘proper’ working terrier. Maybe a little tall for some but he was spannable. Delighted to hear this made him up. 2 Manson’s Ch Clouseau At Five Roads (Imp Ita). Res CC. Three and a half years old. Very different in type but in excellent coat and very balanced. Nice shape overall and with good feet. 3 Smith’s Digaden Top Hat & Tails. 6 years. 1 Kannagara’s Paringer She’s A Queen. BSB. 23 months. Smaller, very feminine smooth tan and white bitch. Like most smooths you can see everything. When she settled down she was well balanced with a harsh coat and reasonable pelt. Nice reach of neck. Maybe it’s their age but all these girls were a little ‘flighty’. 1 Hughes’ Ruffntuff Rush Of Love. BP. 9 months. Another old fashioned bitch of the type I expect from this kennel. White, with tan head, Moved out well. In good coat and with a proper thick pelt. Nicely balanced especially good rear end. Correct terrier feet. 2 Sorrell’s Tegtaran Tigerlily Too. 7 months. Slightly rangier type but also with good coat, pelt and feet. Balanced angles fore and rear, with good rib. 3 Manson’s Foxfur Tennesse Whiskey. 7 months. JB (2) Well these two couldn’t have been more different. 1 Steele’s Digaden Fancy Your Chances For Woodheale. 16 months. Heavy tri, rough coat very pretty with nice reach of neck, good turn of stifle. 2 Kirkby’s Mindlen Miami. 12 months. White and smooth, would like a little more of her, but she is still a baby. 1 Newport’s Digaden Spill The Beans. 23 months. Very stylish bitch, not large but has substance, has excellent coat and pelt. Good mouth and nice rear end. Like all from this kennel she was well presented and handled really well. 2 Kannagaras Paringers She’s A Queen. 1 Steel’s Digaden Get Up And Go. Res CC. 4 years. Really liked her, not the most outgoing of bitches but I found her charming. Mainly white with half head marked. In good harsh coat and one with a pelt. Good neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good rear angulation too. Enough bone and with excellent pigment. 2 Newport’s Digaden Miss Marigold. 23 months. Slightly rangier. Good head mouth and feet. Nice rear angulation and moved ok but seemed a little unsettled. 3 Hobson’s Partridgdale Bluebell. 2 years. 1 Manson’s Vixenview Valentina. CC and BOB. 3 years. No idea who she or her handler were, I thought she looked stunning and was delighted to find that when I handled her she really is that good. Perfect size weight and balance for a bitch. Excellent harsh coat over good pelt, easy span, has desired rise over loin. Good angles front and rear, good mouth, ears and feet. A glamorous bitch who also was very aware of what was going on just as a working terrier should be. I understand that she has been made up, well done. 2 Dayman & Cole’s Ch Pacolito Phinal Edition. 4 years. Different type but still feminine, showing well. Nice overall shape and balance. Good pigment can understand why she has done so well. 3 Collis’ Riplington Dream Image. 6 years. 1 Kannagara’s Shersoco Christmas Rose. BV. 12 years and clearly the oldie here today but still showing well. In good coat and possibly the best pelt of the day. Needs a bit more strength in her muzzle otherwise a very nice working terrier. |
