PARSON RUSSELL JUDGE CRUFTS 23

To be asked to judge at Crufts once is an honour, but to be asked again is a greater honour. I had two wonderful stewards in Mr Ken Frances and Mrs Kim Lathaen; thank you so much; you were both brillia! Thank you all for a wonderful entry. Some lovely dogs were out of the cards but another judge another day. Some were really out of coat and I have to judge them on the day not in the future; some temperaments were, can I say, not what is wanted in this lovely breed. I want to apologise for the late start but that was out of my hands.

VD 1 Blair’s Ch Cleeve Hill Kasper 12 year old all white dog not looking or acting his age, lovely head with dark eyes, good straight front, easily spanned, correct in topline, moved well. A worthy champion that should have been made up a lot sooner.

2 Smiths, Digaden Top Hat And Tails. 8-year-old tan and white, another not looking his age, good head, correct mouth, lovely in bone, good texture on jacket, moved ok.

MPD

1 Mccluskey and Young Chadbrook Jamieson. What a lovely puppy, my type of head. Mostly all white with some black markings on head, dark eyes, good bite, straight and narrow front, good harsh jacket coming through, moved playfully, can’t wait to see him in a few months with more maturity. Good luck.

PD

1 Pacolito Ressurrection. What can I say about this dog pup, Tan and White, super head, good bite, strong in jaw, straight strong bone, good feet, narrow front, good shoulders leading to correct topline, powerful back end that he used when moving. Best puppy and Rcc. I can see a very bright future for him.

2 Simmons Tegtaran Ten Ten Tan headed dog, another promising pup, head just need to come on, well boned, very good jacket, moved well both ways should go on to do well.

3 Knights, Pacolito Multiplicity. Tan and white out of coat today, good head neat ears, good size. Would like to see him in a few months

JD

1 Wendel’s Jolly Dogs Forever I’ve Got The Moves. He has definitely got the moves, very smart dog, lovely type of Parson, good head correct bite, strong underjaw, good length in body strong backend, correct bend in stifle, moved very well in this good class. Just one thing from me - he needs his feet to tighten up but I like him a lot.

2 Harcourt-Morris Lenacourt Lord Joules. I have seen this dog at a few months old and I was very impressed. I said then that he is a lovely pup, now he is all grown up and turned into a lovely Parson, Tan headed dog with a lovely type head, good narrow front, with good bone standing on thick pads, correct topline easily spanned with good pelt. Moved and handled well. 3 Biglands Heythrop Toptag. Another good type from this kennel that consistently turn out top dogs. Tan headed dog of good type, today out of coat but another one for the future.

YD

1 Karlsson and Oqvist Froken Frakens Check Point Orje. 23-month-old tricolour dog of immense quality, the star in the breed for me today. Very strong headed dog, neat ears, strong bite with strong underjaw, well boned, straight front standing on good feet with thick pads, correct in shoulders leading into correct topline, strong back end with enough bend of stifles that powered him around the ring. No hesitation in giving him the CC and later B.O.B. Afterwards I was told I gave his father a first CC and his Grandfather a first CC. Wish you good luck with him if you decide to come back to the UK to campaign him.

2 Sorrell’s Mindlen Malfy. Smaller than 1, tan and white another very good type Parson, good head, good front with enough bone, tidy feet but would trim nails back a little; moved well fore and aft. 3 Barremans/ Van der Wildt Up To You Lewis Of Lovealoch Top size dog, but looking good, nice head and ears, good bone, correct jacket and good pelt, moved ok, trio of good dogs.

PGD

1 Browns Afinlea Pale Tussock All white dog, type I liked for working. Good head, good dark eye, enough bone, good body length, moved well in very good coat with thick pelt.

2 Fooy-van Roosbroeck handling for Barremans and Van, Royal Flush Of Lovealoch Tri smooth dog, ok type, good bite, strong bone, correct toplined moved ok.

LD

1 Casson’s Mindlen Hendricks. Stunning tan headed dog, cracking head, neat ears, good straight front. good feet, correct top line. A1 jacket of good texture and thick pelt, moved really well, don’t know if you have done much winning, but if not, you should have. Very smart dog.

2 Bowden’s Mindlen Machican In Chellowside. Very difficult decision between first and this one. I love a smooth Parson and this is so much needed in a breed to produce good jackets. Very little between them; very good head, strong underjaw, lovely bone standing on good feet, thick pelt, coat of quality. I would have liked to see a little more weight on him, but another one who will do well.

3 Hobsons Partridgdale Flynn. A trio of very nice Parsons. A very good class, i had to make tough decisions. Tan and White strong head, good front, good jacket thick pelt, moved well.

OD

1 19027 not in catalogue, no owner’s name or dog’s name. I know the handler was Kate Smith, I think I know the dog’s name but as I haven’t got it written down I can’t name it. Good wedged shape head, good narrow front with good bone, lovely length of neck leading into good shoulder with correct length of body, strong back end, good bend of stifles, good hocks that helped him move so good. Unlucky to be beaten, in my opinion, by two better dogs on the day.

2 Collis Ch Riplington See Your Dreams A very worthy Champion, Tri dog, very workmanlike, wedge-shaped head, correct bite, strong under jaw, good front and bone, easily spanned, thick pelt, powered around the ring with ease.

3 Larson and Kielnhofer Dk Ch Anzo’s I Geta Kick Out Of You Tan and White, another trio of very good dogs, similar remarks to above, moved with ease. Thank you for bringing him.

CITIZEN DOG SCHEME

1 Pell’s Hoolmark Ringo Star At Olliebark Tri dog, very smart dog, good head, good front with good bone, in correct jacket, easily spanned, moved and handled well.

2 Woods and Boorman Fox Fur Newark Tan and White, smaller than first, but he also has a good front, lovely head, good topline moved well.

VB

1 Newport’s Digaden Made To Measure. This was a very good class headed by a tan and white quality lady of good size, head of good shape, good bite, correct front and bone, in good jacket, easily spanned, moved well, Best Veteran in Breed.

2 Hobson’s Alncroft Isle See Tan and white very similar to first, 8 years old, she was in very good condition, good pelt, moved very well fore and aft.

3 Granberg Int Ch/Dk/Ch/Su,Ch,Nl,Ch Zanira. A trio of lovely veterans; either could have been placed first.

MPB

1 Newport’s Digaden Jinntipple Tan and white puppy very raw at this stage, broken coated, lovely feminine head, dark eyes. correct mouth, fidgety on the table but moved well.

PB

What a class of quality pups; looks good for future of the breed.

1 Hollands Dramalex She Is A Belter. Where do i start for this young lady, oozes quality, stunning 10 months old, tan and white, feminine head but screams Parson, neat ears, dark eyes, straight well boned front, correct in shoulders leading to good length of back that leads onto good strong back end, correct jacket with thick pelt, moved and handled brilliantly unlucky to be beaten by the quality dog puppy for best puppy in breed.

2 Roberts and Murray Mindlen Mitexi. 9-month-old tan and white quality puppy, very similar to 1, and another that will do well, lovely narrow front on this bitch, lovely shaped head, dark eyes, easily spanned, thick pelt, correct length of rib, moved with ease.

3 Stock’s Vixenview Montero Of Shemist What a trio! Any of these could have been placed in a different order, spoilt for choice in this class, liked everything about her.

JB

1 Pohlands and Huis handled by Roosbroeck, Plappermaulchens Brown Eyed Girl. Another very good class, Tan and white broken coated, young lady, very smart Parson, neat head, good eye, good front with good bone, correct shoulder placement leading into correct body length, harsh jacket with thick pelt, good set on, moved well.

2 Evans and Barnes Bellvalleys Kissed By Fire. I have watched this one’s career from the very start and she has always impressed me, but today she did not perform as I have seen her in the past and that was disappointing, never the less she deserved second place today. Tan and white, feminine head good bite, good bone and lovely feet, coat in A1 condition, didnt move as good as I have seen her move.

3 Newports Digaden Run With The Pack. Lovely feminine bitch has the makings of another good one from this quality kennel.

YB

1 Biglands Heythrop Taranna A very nice tri bitch; another from this kennel that produces top dogs/bitches, very workmanlike bitch, quality head, good gun barrell, narrow front, easily spanned, correct jacket thick pelt (that some lacked today); moved with drive, very impressive young lady.

2 Smiths Mindlen Monopoly Of Alncroft Another nice bitch, different head type to 1, but so similar in make and shape and will change places many times with each other. Two lovely bitches, moved and handed well.

3 Granberg’s Equilibrate Born To Be A Superstar Tri of very good quality, neat ears, good body shape, strong hindquarters, moved well. These three are very smart bitches. Good luck.

PGB

1 Newports’s Digaden Spill The Beans. Tan and white, another good one from this kennel, smaller in type but very smart, wedge shape in head, correct shaped dark eyes, good front with enough bone, body of good length, moved free and easy, covering the ground as they should.

2 Kannangara, Paringer She’s A Queen. Tan and white smooth, of good size, very feminine head, dark eyes, good front, in excellent condition, very good body on her, and moved well with handler.

3 Kirkby Mindlen Miami Tan and white; another smooth, very similar to 1, moved and handled well, 3 nice bitches.

LB

1 Manson and Lynch Vixenview Miss Cash. What a stunning tan and white bitch, oozes quality, and as I said earlier using smooths coats are good to improve the texture in the other coats. She is very smart; nothing to hide, what you see is what you get, flat skull, neat ears, shallow stop, correct bite with big white teeth (something that was lacking in a few today) straight narrow front, well boned, standing on thick pads, lovely shoulders, good length of body, strong hindquarters, moved and handled well. She will have a bright future if she is given a fair crack of the whip.

2 Hollands Foxfur Capri At Dramalex. Tan and white, broken coated, another lovely bitch, unlucky to meet 1 today, she too is very simlar to 1, maybe a bit stronger in head, but good boned, narrow front. I think she would work all day.

3 Newports Digaden Miss Marigold Tan and white bitch, another from this kennel that is pruducing some lovely dogs, what a trio of bitches. The breed will only go forward with this kind of quality.

OB

1 Mansons Vixenview Chip N Pin. I have learned AGAIN never to judge from the ringside. This bitch has never taken my eye, I have seen her a few times; for some she may be over presented, maybe for me too, but she could still do the job she was bred for. All I can say is don’t criticise until you put your hands on her. I learnt that on the day; she is so well made and it’s true what they say: if they are made right, they will move right. Tan and white wedge-shaped head, neat ears, correct bite, gun barrel front with good bone. Tight feet and thick pads, shoulders sloping correctly, leading into correct length of body, chest not too deep, thick pelt, spanned well, ribs carried well back, correct topline with a slight rise of loins, low set hocks; this bitch is smack on for size, she moved so positively with good stride. No hesitation in awarding her the CC. I was told this is her second, so with a fair deal she should make up, and as always with Warren Bradley charges, handled so well. Splitting hairs for B.O.B

2 Robert and Murray Ch Mindlen Moccasin. Another quality bitch, I was very pleased with her make and shape, very workman-like; she has a lovely feminine wedge-shaped head straight narrow front, good feet, correct depth of chest easily spanned, thick pelt, good hocks, correct bend of stifles, she moved well with correct action covering the ground with ease. No hesitation in giving her RCC.

3 Dayman and Cole Ch Pacolito Phinal Edition She is no stranger to me; I gave her the CC last time I judged the breed and my opinion of her is still the same. It’s just that she was beaten by a whisker by two quality younger bitches today, a very worthy champion.

GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME

1 Paringer She’s A Queen

2 Kannangaras Sherosco Christmas Rose This young lady is 15 years young; what a star she was enjoying her day out with her lovey sporting owner.
