PARSON JACK RUSSELL SKC AUGUST 12 Judge(s): MR D HUNT Parson Russell Terriers I was awarding my first set of CCs in PRTs. My wife & I registered a dog on the foundation register of the Parson Jack Russell Terriers & successfully exhibited dogs of the ‘Parson’ type at working terrier shows prior to that. I have thus maintained an interest in the breed for many years. The dogs varied significantly in type but in general were in good condition with excellent temperaments. PD (1) 1 Baker & Swift’s Pacolito Phirstprize, BP, mature well grown t/w pup of just on 12 months with good markings, well proportioned head of correct shape, large teeth, dark eye & well placed ears, straight front, good length of neck, nice body shape with well set tail. In good coat & fit condition. JD (2) 1 Denby-Gardner’s Ammanday Able, deceptive t/w of 13 months who looks much better when he has settled. On the leg he carries a harsh rough coat, good head with a straight narrow front & neat feet. Slightly long in body he is spannable & moves well. Rear angulation could be better. PGD (1) 1 Samways’ Cassacre Tack, different type again being a handy, smaller size, head OK, he has a well placed dark eye & carries no stop. Good in profile his ribs are carried well back with good rear angulation. Moving freely he lacked his rough coat & thick pelt. LD (3) 1 Bowden’s Nado Shiz’s Tacoma X-Runner to Pacolito, strong headed dog with good bite & well placed ears, cobbier type he is spannable but deep enough. Nice straight front & clean neck, excelled in coat being harsh & dense with the thickest of pelts. Held his topline well when moving easily, proud of his well set tail. OD (6) 1 Vaughan’s Ch Parruss Comanche Chief, CC & BOB, this well known tri Ch catches the eye on entering the ring & is a pleasure to go over, well shaped head, flat skull & dark eyes give a keen expression, good for size he has clean lines throughout, straight front, small neat feet & a well set on tail carried correctly, carrying a dense coat with undercoat, he is handled well & shown in fit muscular condition, particularly evident in his well constructed rear, covering the ground well with great drive. CC & BOB; 2 Hooley’s Ch Hoolmark Johnny Ringo, RCC, worthy ch tri who fits the Standard well & was close up to the winner. He is another of correct size, good bite in a strong jaw, with a straight narrow front & just right for bone. In good coat he moves soundly both coming & going, is spannable with correctly shaped ribs & strong loin. Just preferred the rear construction of the winner. RCC; 3 Roberts & Murray’s Pacolito Prymeval Mindlen. PB (3) A class of 3 very different types. 1 Hooley’s Hoolmark Boppin Robyn, a size smaller than some, this 10 months tri is well put together, handles well & has a good bite with the darkest of eyes, carries a neat front with well set tail & nice rear angulation, moved the best in this class using her fit condition. Carries a correct coat but I would prefer a slightly stronger head; 2 Baker & Swift’s Pacolito Phirstedition, litter sister to PD winner & similar comments apply. A larger size she has a good head, neat feet & nice length of body, in good toned condition which shows in her strong muscular rear end. Her front movement could be tighter & she lacked coat; 3 Liddell’s Lyonmill Daydream. JB (0). PGB (1) 1 Denby-Gardner’s Affinity, similar type to her kennelmate winner of JD, rangier bitch, is spannable but up to size, well proportioned head, dark eye & good bite of large teeth, strong muscular neck, straight front, rough coated, moves OK when settled, but her slight dip in topline detracts on the move. LB (6) 1 Roberts & Murray’s Pacolito Milarki, smaller, more compact type with lots to like, out of my CC winner I see. She has a head all in proportion with strong jaw, good bite & well placed ears. I liked her expression, very alert & keen to please, nice depth of rib in good condition with the best of tail sets, her tail is carried ideally when moving well on her small neat feet, coat coming through; 2 Liddell’s Janes Lass at Lyonmill, another to like, just a shade larger, but easily spans, almost pure white, she has a decent head & large teeth, straight front, compact feet & well angulated rear, in hard condition she has a nice tailset & was presented well. Just preferred the neck & topline of the winner; 3 Smith’s Bethane Liberton Lassie. OB (7) 1 Baker & Swift’s Pacolito Persistant, CC, super type of ideal size, this quality t/w has a head all in correct proportion, large teeth set in a strong jaw with little stop, lovely muscular reach of neck flows into well laid clean shoulders. With a straight front her good body shape leads to a slight rise over the loin & well angulated rear with good bend of stifle, good coat & pelt, moved well. CC; 2 Roberts & Todd’s Ch Chataway Careless, RCC, this bitch appealed for overall type & conformation. She needed time to settle but looked good in profile when she had. An ideal working size, she has a feminine head with good shaped eyes & nice flat skull giving an alert expression, small well placed ears & well padded feet, straight front, muscular & moved with drive from a well developed rearend, carries an excellent tight coat & thick pelt. RCC; 3 Baker & Swift’s Ch Pacolito X-Rated. DAVID HUNT |
