PARSON JACK RUSSELL SKC AUGUST 14 Judge(s): MR K DENBY-GARDNER Parsons Russell Terriers I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to award CCs for the first time & to thank my steward & especially the exhibitors, most of whom I have been told had pretty awful journeys. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience even though I was nervous. Obviously I was judging to my interpretation of the Standard, this included breed specific points such as ears, feet, pelt & weatherproof coats. I was surprised that some dogs that were quite well muscled had softer backends than I prefer, and, although mouths were generally OK, some teeth were not especially clean, & some mouths were hard to assess as there was a lot of baiting while on the table. PD (0). JD (6) 1 McCluskey’s Chadbrook Rocket, strong, impressive 14 months, mainly white dog. Deep chest but still spannable. Well boned. Good pigment, nice tight feet & good rib. Very good rear angulation giving drive, which showed when moved on a looser lead; 2 Kelly & Storey’s Andralock Ranger Rudi, all white dog of 16 months, loved his ‘old fashioned’ head. Good front, deep chest but still spannable. Moved out well but a little unhappy on the table; 3 Smith’s Tubize Mr Sizzle. PD & LD (0). OD (5,1a) A quality class. 1 Blair & Hadleys Cleevehill Kasper, all white, very masculine dog of just 3 so coming in to his prime. Love his ‘old-fashioned’ type. Beautiful clean cut wedge shaped head. Well sized & placed ears. Very dark eye with good expression. Good front & strongly boned without being heavy. Excellent tight feet. Tail set on correctly. Pleased to find him spannable. Shown well & showing his socks off. I felt he epitomised the ‘bold & friendly’ & ‘workmanlike, active & agile without exaggeration’ terrier that we strive for. Pleased to award him his first CC which he has been pushing for; 2 Vaughan’s Ch Parruss Commanche Chief, another lovely dog that I have done well previously & still admire. B/tri head markings. Excellent size & shape. Spannable & well balanced. Strong teeth. Well boned, best of tails & tailset. Shown well, just loved 1st placed dogs attitude. RCC; 3 Harcourt-Morris’s Sw/Ch Double Barrel’s Prime Altono. VD (0). PB (2) 1 Vaughns’ Bull Brothers Regal Ruby Paruss, 7 months, taller bitch but still well balanced. Good head although would prefer neater ears. Very dark eye & nose pigment. Good close bite. Well boned. Good coat, rise over loin & well set tail. Stronger backend & drive than 2 which gave her the class; 2 Kelley & Storey’s Pacolito Phardante, 11 months, smaller, neater, bitch of different type. Good mouth & bite, nice dark eye & good expression. Good coat. Spannable. Movement OK but not as positive as 1st. JB (2) 1 Smith’s Tubize Miss Fidget, a year on the day. Taller type, nice dark tri-coloured bitch with really good head shape & ear set. Tail spot. Excellent close coat & a lovely thick pelt. Well boned but not too heavy, correct rise over loin leading on to good rear angulation. Moved OK; 2 Roberts & Murray’s Mindlen Minnow, 13 months, nicely headed bitch with good dark eye, nice expression & correct mouth. Good pelt, I just preferred the angulation of 1. PGB (1) 1 Neild’s Logierat Little Lotte, another one I have done well before & really like. 4 years old & of a smaller type. She was much happier than the previous bitches & enjoying her show. Has a good close coat. Well balanced body. Good mouth & teeth. Good rear angulation which helped her move out well. LB (3) What a lovely class. 1 Rawlinson’s Glencymreig Lunar Eclipse over Halshimoor. Fantastic, 22m, tan & white, correctly sized bitch. Unexaggerated, just so right for type. Lovely overall shape. Good topline, with correct rise over loin. Good bone & very well muscled. Deep chest but very spanable. Excellent balanced angles front & rear. Super wedge shaped head with dark eye & a strong jaw. Shown in good condition & finished in excellent coat. Moved well CC & BOB; 2 Fielding’s Matsstars Lady’s Mantle at Starfield, 2 years old, classic old fashioned very pretty tri-coloured bitch. Excellent mouth with good jaw & scissor bite. Very dark eye with correct expression. Good topline. Spannable. Not quite the coat of one & a little loose in front movement but still so much to like. RCC; 3 Liddell’s Lyonmill Daydream. OB (3) Again, what a really lovely class. 1 White’s Ebblechase Elspeth, 3 years old, w/t, old fashioned type with lovely overall shape. In good coat, & has an excellent head. Slightly taller but still spannable. Nice tight feet. She moves so well with that classic easy gait, I really like her, I just wish she showed herself better when standing; 2 Liddell’s Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill, 2 years, of a more compact type, I would prefer a little bit more leg. Showed really well. In good coat, very spannable, & with neat feet. Correct scissor bite. Shown in really good condition & is well muscled; 3 Smith’s Bethane Liberton Lassie. VB (2) Two 7 years old smaller type, smooth bitches. 1 Harcourt-Morris’ Gwragged Evona Lencourt, tri with excellent coat. Smaller & finer type but still well boned. Moved out well & enjoying her day. Spannable; 2 Whites’ Ebblechase Rosanna, w/t, of good type, really good feet, coat & pelt. Not as showy or as spannable as 1. KLEE DENBY-GARDNER |
