PARSON JACK RUSSELL JUDGE SOUTHERN COUNTIES 10

Parson Russell Terriers

My CCs winners who were both made up on the day.

To get the negative out of the way. There was one suspect mouth, but in a young exhibit, so I hope it corrects itself. Some, to me, needed a little more rise over the loin, but happily none dropped-off.

There were also a few who, again for me, need longer ribs. Movement is still very varied, some being rather uncoordinated. There is also a variance in head shape which also influenced a lot of my decisions. On the plus side I wanted workmanlike, bold & friendly, spanable dogs & I think all my entry were.

PD (4)

1 Bigland’s Heythrop Thunderstruck, super outline & side movement, harsh coat, nice overall size & balance, big head with big teeth, good pigment & thick pelt;

2 Baker’s Pacolito Phormula One, slightly larger make, correct outline, very good rear angulation, moved well, beautifully presented & shown, as were all the dogs from this kennel;

3 Pell’s Cassacre Sea Urchin at Olliebark.

JD (5,1a)

1 Chapman’s Foxwarren Finder, more of an old-fashioned shape, but of correct size & span. Classic & beautiful head, coat good & harsh & has thick pelt, mouth correct with good teeth, lovely attitude;

2 Swift & Parr’s Spellbert Captain Jack, slightly larger, but still spanable. Good coat & excellent pelt, good mouth, ears & feet;

3 Nixon’s Gonetoground Border Union.

PGD (5,1)

1 Cutler & Hughes’ Trumpmoor Exmoor Jimny, absolutely loved him, great example of an unexaggerated working terrier, spot on for size & balance, terrific head, well set tail, good teeth, pelt, pigment & feet, moved well. Seriously considered him in the challenge, but needs to get his coat sorted out;

2 Boggia’s Boughton Brassica, fabulous condition, best of day, which really is saying something, great outline & super shaped wedge head, good teeth, pigment, feet & pelt, lovely rib. Once he had settled he also moved beautifully in that almost lazy way I love;

3 Eastwood’s Pacolito Preshous.

LD (4,1)

1 Farrow’s Glenholm Happy Go Lucky, of correct size, height & length, harsh coat & very dark pigment, spanable, but combines flexibility with good muscletone. Good tight feet, classy example of the breed. In the challenge I just felt he didn’t show quite so well, but it was hot. RCC;

2 Highfield’s Bradpole Beau of Guestwick, a bit bigger, but he is such a lovely overall shape. In excellent condition, attractive head with good pigment, good coat, showing well;

3 Hall’s Frithgarth Jack Frost.

OD (4,1)

1 Sollis’ Mister Bonamonty, correct overall size, in excellent condition, he almost shone, beautifully balanced, shapely outline & effortless movement, showing all the time, being outside seemed to suit him, good mouth with great teeth, has a very dark pigment, good thick ears, pads & pelt, well balanced angulation, good long ribs, spanable, nice tail carriage. His third CC, BOB & G4;

2 Chapman’s Foxwarren Buddy, I have said jaunty & I think this sums him up, very happy disposition, shows all the time & moving out well, good head, old fashioned working terrier, good mouth & feet, spanable & flexible, good coat & pelt;

3 Swift & Parr’s Windynook Jeckyl Or Hide.

V (7,3)

1 Copping’s Badgergrove Rose-E-Lee, when it comes to showing, she really is her own worst enemy as she is so full on, but I love her for it. Correct size & very spanable, love her head, great pigment, pelt, ears & nice rib, good tailset, good coat & in great condition;

2 White’s Ch Ebblechase Eleanor, beautiful head & overall construction, in good coat, great feet. Slightly heavy, but still spanable & flexible. Excellent coat & nicely handled;

3 Highfield’s Guestwick Lindy Loo of Bradpole.

PB (4)

First two were real babies, both with lovely dispositions.

1 Chapman’s Foxwarren Lollipop, one of those loved her the minute I saw her moments, oh so pretty, nicely proportioned through head & body, excellent dark pigment, good teeth, leathers, pelt & feet, lovely rib & well set tail;

2 Smith’s Bethane Liberton Lassie, slightly larger, but by no means big & with lovely height to length proportions. Beautiful head, great pigment, teeth, coat & pelt, good angulation leading to stunning movement when she hit her stride;

3 Bigland’s Pacolito Phirstrater.

JB (2)

1 Eastwood’s Pacolito Phigurehead, nice size, good jaw & teeth & good pigmentation, balanced angulation, correct feet, overall preferred her head to

2 Baker’s Pacolito Numero Uno, still only a puppy, OK for size & angulation, nice mouth & teeth & in good coat, pelt & condition, moved well.

PGB (8,2)

1 Farrow’s Halshimoor Final Fling, correct size, nice & long, but unexaggerated. Good dark pigmentation, good coat & pelt, very pretty wedge shaped head, in good condition. Nicely made & with good feet, but sometimes a bit uncooperative on the move;

2 Meyer’s Boughton Bliss for Coclestane, mainly white bitch, but with good pigmentation. Good mouth with nice big teeth, terrific coat, pelt, ears & feet. Larger overall, but is spanable & flexible. When she hits her stride moves beautifully & effortlessly;

3 Hughes’ Wind Beneath My Wings of Ruffntuff.

LB (8)

1 Bigland’s Heythrop Tiadrop, good size, with lovely height to length ratios, very spanable without any weakness, in excellent coat & condition, good pelt, nice jaw & teeth, correct reach of neck & lovely shapely rear, moving out well;

2 White’s Ebblechase Rosanna, spot on for size, but still strong & without any coarseness, good long ribcage, wonderful harsh coat, good pelt, ears & feet. Would prefer a slightly stronger head, but pleased that she still has a good jaw & lovely teeth;

3 Bull & Stark’s Clauval Japonica Lady.

OB (11,1)

This really was a wonderful class with great bitches. No secret that I love both 1 & 2 & was very pleased to get to judge them.

1 Vaughan’s Parruss Star Spangled, correct size, but strongly made, very pretty with loads of Parson attitude, easy span, dense harsh coat & thick pelt, neat feet, excellent pigment, moving & showing really well. CC, her third;

2 Smith’s Bethane Hulabaloo, larger overall, but still spanable & with correct length to height proportions & not heavy or coarse, terrific coat & pelt, good long rib, well put together shoulder & upper arm & correctly angulated rear giving such lovely movement. RCC;

3 Rimmer’s Kylini Mythnmyst.
