PARSON JACK RUSSELL WELKS 15 Judge(s): MRS K F DENBY-GARDNER DO YOU WISH THAT THE KENNEL CLUB WOULD PUT IT'S OWN HOUSE IN ORDER? Is It Acceptable To Award BIS To A Dog That Refuses To Be Examined?read more PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION ABOVE. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS USE AN ALTERNATIVE NAME. Parson Russell Terriers I was so pleased to be asked to judge at this, one of my favourite shows, & just as pleased that the weather was, mainly, perfect for the dogs & we could be outside. A small entry & a couple of absentees but I had the type I was looking for from which to choose. Three very nice bitches decided to play silly whatnots, which was a great shame as on another day they may well have done much better. Generally though I think the exhibits had a nice day. Just a couple of niggles: for me there are some short ribcages; some exhibits were too heavy while some needed a bit of weight put on; & coats varied enormously – I know we’re not a glamorous or obviously groomed breed but a lot of coats were lacking or soft, & a working terrier needs a harsh jacket. PD (2,1a) 1 Broadberry’s Foxthorn Huron at Ratscallion, just 8 months, but showing considerably mature behaviour. Masculine, good overall body shape, tail spot & most beautiful tan head. Good teeth, ears, eye & excellent pigment. Good angulation & well balanced front & rear. Very happy dog who moved & showed very well. RCC & BP. JD (2) A. PGD (2,1) 1 Smith’s Tubize Mr Sizzle, big, white dog, with marking on one eye & on ears. Moved & shown well. Has an exceptionally good harsh, dense & flat coat. Nice eye, ears & really good big teeth. Well boned. Well set tail. Excellent temperament, just a bit too much of him. LD (1) 1 Hall’s Frithgarth Magic Sandpiper, probably the best moving dog exhibited, so easy & fluid & looks like he could just keep going all day. Beautiful overall shape & balance, good reach of neck, nothing exaggerated, tail set OK. Good legs & feet. Excellent temperament & attitude. His downfall is his coat. OD (1) 1 Blair & Hadley’s Cleeve Hill Kasper, all white strong dog. Ideally I would prefer him a tad longer but he is still balanced & spannable. Moving & showing really well today. Proper wedge shaped head, nice eyes, ears & teeth. In excellent coat, it’s harsh & there’s plenty of it. Strongly boned, nice tight feet, well set & carried tail. Well handled to CC & BOB. GCD (0). PB (2,1) 1 Broadberry’s Alncroft In Tune at Ratscallion, only 7 months & very much a baby. I would prefer her slightly leggier. Very feminine, good shape & balance overall & has pretty tri wedge shaped head. In excellent coat. A little unsettled but moving really well when she hit her stride. Owner has done well to have two such lovely puppies. BPB. JB (3) 1 Gray’s Mudgi Meadowcroft Matilda, first impression was of a taller rangier bitch, very out of coat. However there is a lot to like! She is strongly made with good bone & moved out really well. Spannable but I would prefer a slightly longer rib. Well handled; 2 Highfield’s Bradpole Bucks Fizz, smaller, but very well balanced bitch in excellent coat & with good pelt. Very good pigment, nicely balanced, spannable & has good rib. However was being a bit flighty & uncooperative on the move; 3 Pell’s Pipinsbrook Minnie The Minx at Olliebark. PGB (7,1) 1 Smith’s Tubize Miss Fidget, again a taller type, just spannable, but still feminine. Really well pigmented dark tri head, & tail spot. Excellent big teeth, thick pelt & tight feet, all so important in a Parson. Moved really well, well presented & shown; 2 Tinegate’s Milvinae Whats The Storey, correctly sized, feminine, narrow bitch. Nice overall balance, good reach of neck with complimentary well set & carried tail. In excellent coat. Good pigment & good feet. Shown & showing well; 3 Shelton’s Pacolito Phirstry. LB (8,2) 1 Fielding’s Matsstars Lady’s Mantle at Starfield, out of coat but other than that hard to fault today, I haven’t seen her show herself so well before, either on the move or standing. So well balanced, spannable, good pelt & what coat she did have was of good texture. Absolutely typical, & exceptionally pretty, wedge shaped head. The darkest of pigment to markings; eye; nose; lips & nails. Good narrow front but with substance & bone. Well angulated & balanced, with good shoulders & strong well muscled rear. One of the few with a rise over her loin. Manages to combine femininity while looking workmanlike. CC; 2 Tinegate’s Milvinae All Aboard, slightly smaller bitch with really excellent coat. Has good balance & bone. Another very pretty bitch, but still looks like a working terrier. True head, good eye, ear & mouth. Good rearend, well set & carried tail. Showing & shown well. RCC; 3 Shelton’s Boultmour True Delight. OB (4) Firstly I would like to congratulate 3rd & 4th, both of whom are veterans, on being in such good order, with good teeth, pelt & coats & showing so well for their owners! 1 White’s Ebblechase Elspeth, very much my type, she combines strength & a workmanlike appearance with femininity. Coat & pelt are good, although she could do with a little more weight. Beautiful head with lovely eye, good teeth & ears. Good length of rib, & rise over loin. I thought, & hoped, she would be my CC winner but although she moves like an absolute dream, she absolutely refused to cooperate with her owner in the challenge; 2 Highfield’s Blow The Socks Off, smaller overall, white, very feminine bitch with one of the best coats & pelts. Well pigmented eye, nose & lips. Good rib, & overall balance. I like her a lot, just wish that she – like 1 – showed herself a bit more; 3 Kannangara’s Parruss Twist Of Lemon. GCB (0).
