PARSON JACK RUSSELL JUDGE WINDSOR 14

Parson Russell Terriers

My thanks to the committee of Windsor for this appointment & to my two able stewards Dave Caulfield & Peter Baxter who kept the ring moving so efficiently. Thanks also to the exhibitors for such a good entry & the opportunity to go over your dogs.

Type seems to vary considerably but movement is improving. All mouths were OK but with varying teeth sizes. For a workmanlike terrier a harsh dense coat with thick loose pelt is most important & was sometimes difficult to find today, however I was very pleased with my top winners.

V (4)

1 Chapman’s Foxwarren Tomass, 8 year old dog with a good smooth coat. In fit condition with a good scissor bite & little stop. Well placed ears & nicely set tail. Good in neck with ribs carried well back. Spannable & moved out with purpose;

2 Denby-Gardner’s Ammanday Apparition, smaller type, broken coated bitch. Nice dark eye but rather flyaway ears. Neat front & good well muscled hindquarters with tail straight off the rear. Rather long in the body, moving OK;

3 Hall’s Frithgarth Jack Frost.

MPD (0).

PD (2)

Both had good head shape, bites & well placed ears, but with contrasting body shapes.

1 Newport & Baker’s Sweetjumper’s Gentle Twister, a more compact type, good for bone & size with shoulders laid well back. Really strong muscular rearend with excellent bend of stifle. Harsh coat & moved well. Promising. BPD & BP;

2 Denby-Gardner’s Tubize Mr Wriggle at Ammanday, on the leg, rangier & finer all through. This rough coated boy has an excellent straight front with elbows well in & carried on neat compact feet. Moved well in front but a little close behind.

PGD (2,1)

1 Hall’s Frithgarth Magic Sandpiper, standing alone today, this exhibit had left his coat at home. Good strong well proportioned head, correct bite & good ear placement. Straight in front with nice topline & tailset. Well angulated muscular rearend. Enough of him for me & rather flat on his front pasterns. Moved OK.

LD (6)

1 Chapman’s Foxwarren Picasso, a close decision. Liked the alert expression on this 14 months tri. Well marked he was in fine condition carrying a harsh coat. Good bite of large teeth, with well shaped dark eye. Well constructed throughout, he moved well both ways & with drive;

2 Bigland’s Heythrop Tailwind, very typical, good for size & spans easily. Lovely head shape with correct bite. Nicely balanced with good front, feet, shoulder & tailset. Nice rise over the loin with coat coming through. Moved better in front than behind;

3 Jones’ Neelan’s American Dream.

OD (6)

1 Wilson’s Pacolito Highly Prized at Dragonmoor, lovely type. The more I looked the more I liked. 20 months & easily spanned. Correctly proportioned head with good underjaw & excellent bite. Well angulated both front & rear. Lovely neck leads into a body of good shape with correct rib & depth. Super dense, harsh coat with thick pliable pelt. Moved true & effortlessly both coming & going. Pleased to award him the CC;

2 Smith & Moon’s Ch Alncroft Blackthorn, an exhibit of excellent quality in tip-top condition. Another strong in head, good expression with flat skull of good shape & bite of large teeth. Well placed ears & good straight front, nicely boned & carried on neat compact feet. Lovely balanced body with correct coat. Moved steadily both ways & looked good in profile. Well deserved RCC;

3 Price’s Rymshott Samo at Andralok.

GC (1) 1 F Tomass.

MPB (2)

Two very raw youngsters.

1 Denby-Gardner’s Matsstars Moonshine, 8½ months all white. Promising head, still to develop. Good muzzle to head proportions with lovely dark eye. Nice body shape & topline, straight front & has a well set tail. Harsh coat & muscular condition, well angulated both ends. Moved well;

2 Pell’s Pippinsbrook Minnie The Minx at Olliebark, 7½ months tri. Decent head with correct bite. Neat feet & good tail set but did not have the construction of the winner, lacking rear angulation. Moved OK, but carrying enough weight.

PB (2)

1 Turley’s Pacolito Mistress, a close decision. Just 9 months, dark t/w. Liked her size & gave a good overall picture. Nicely shaped head with dark eye. Well muscled she has a lovely straight front, good feet & tailset, carrying a good coat. Was pulling to one side but moved out well when asked to move again;

2 Smith’s Tubize Miss Fidget, 10 month old tri of similar type but a size larger, although still able to span. Longish in head & ears not as well placed. Lovely neck & well placed shoulder with ribs carried well back, good rear angulation. Just preferred the head of the winner.

JB (10,2)

1 Newport’s Digaden Taylor Made, 14 months t/w. Head of good proportions with strong jaw, good bite & well placed ears. Nicely balanced body, well constructed throughout. Good front with a harsh thick coat. Her good muscletone enabled her to move out well from behind;

2 Bigland’s Heythrop Tiffin, good head qualities, strong bite & keen expression. Lovely shoulder & front carried on tight feet. Body with ribs of good shape & correct depth. An easy span she rises nicely over her firm loin. In fit condition, she moves well with a loose pelt but lack of coat cost her the class today;

3 Hooley’s Holmark Belle Starr.

YB (1)

1 Bull’s Rymshott Goggles at Aurgwen, standing alone this 13 months tri has lots of quality. Good for size, she has a strong jaw, clean bite & well shaped dark eye. Good in profile, she is well angulated both ends. In good condition with a harsh coat, she moved well behind but a fraction wide in front.

PGB (7)

1 Liddell’s Alncroft Sovereign at Lyonmill, two bitches of correct size. 1st was cleanly presented & well handled. Liked her head, well proportioned with neat ears correctly placed. Lovely front & body shape, just right for bone, good rib, tailset & well let down hocks. Moved well front & rear. Harsh coat;

2 Bigland’s Pacolito Phinal Phling, similar to winner in many ways. Feminine head with lovely flat skull & good bite. Neat feet, nicely constructed body, tail correctly placed. Good coat & pelt, moved well but just appeared a little nervous. In hard condition;

3 Tinegate’s Milvinae Whats The Storey.

LB (10,2)

1 Collis’ Riplington Black Cherry, impressed for quality. Lovely wedge shaped head with dark eyes deeply set & well placed small ears. Good in front, straight with clean well placed shoulders & body not too deep. Excelled at the rearend, muscular & well angulated with nicely set tail. Superb harsh double coat & thick pelt both on top & well covered underneath. Moved well & pushed hard for the top spot. RCC;

2 Sutton’s Alncroft Maid An Issue at Springbeck, a similar type but with slightly longer body. Strong in head with flat skull & again neat ears. Lovely neck, clean cut at the withers. Neat feet & correct amount of bone. Good tailset & coat. She moved well both ways but did not have the rearend qualities to match the winner;

3 Newport’s Digaden Secret Affair.

OB (8,1)

1 Smith & Moon’s Ch Alncroft I Spy, an excellent example of ideal size & construction. T/w with a beautiful head not exaggerated in any way, alert & with keen expression. Good in neck, front & shoulder. Well shaped body with ribs carried well back, strong rearend with best of tail sets. In fit condition with muscles well defined & carrying a lovely harsh coat & good pelt. Moved true both ways with confidence & purpose. Delighted to award her CC & BOB;

2 Hooley’s Hoolmark Boppin Robyn, an attractive, quality tri smooth bitch. Finer in head than the winner, she has an excellent bite & little stop, with lovely well placed dark eye. Good front construction carried on neat feet. Easy to span her ribs are carried well back & lead to a nice loin & good rear angulation. In prime condition, she is true on the move & strides out well;

3 White’s Ebblechase Elspeth.
