SCOTTIE JUDGE CRUFTS 09

Scottish Terriers

Last time I judged fronts were not such a problem but today sadly they were the biggest problem, not just narrow but lacking straight legs. Also dentition needs watching.

Overall the bitch classes were better than the dogs in type, quality & presentation.

VD (2)

1 Le Pellettier’s Ch Eglisse Du Cottage de Brendamoray, 9 years old, retained his clean head, good legs & feet, well bodied, good quarters, in good double coat, moved well, keeping a level topline;

2 Marshall’s Ch Benarty Bears Rory, preferred head of 1, well boned legs. Carrying a little too much weight.

PD (2,1a)

1 Manning’s Elfrecia Laird, could be cleaner in head. Excellent mouth. Needs to drop in body. Good quarters & moved well. Better presentation would be an advantage.

JD (6,2)

1 Boyce’s Trakside By The Loch, stood foursquare, balanced head with a strong muzzle, good mouth & eyes, nice neck & shoulders, good legs & well padded feet, good in body with a level topline, well angulated quarters, moved well, presented in excellent coat & condition;

2 Bettis’ Glenheath Independent by Ornella, pleasing head, low to ground, good quarters, showed well standing but not as positive on the move as 1;

3 Lawrence’s Sweetgarret My Wee Geordie, not as mature as 1 & 2, lacking substance, needs time but showed well.

PGD (13,3)

A difficult class to judge.

1 Hill’s Bonnieanne Norman of Tahgmor, up to size, he has a clean head, good front, well boned legs & well padded feet, good ribs & body, strong quarters, the soundest mover in this class;

2 Cardy’s Blackthorpe Jet Ranger, smaller size, rather plain in head, low to ground, spoiled by heavy shoulders & withers, coat was textured but could be straighter, nice quarters, preferred movement of 1;

3 Elena’s Moe Ocharvanie Sherry, short & compact but lacking quality, not showing with enthusiasm.

LD (9,2)

1 Mahmoudi’s Brio Quizzical, very well presented, in good coat, long balanced head with good muzzle & mouth, good bone & front, clean shoulders, good body, topline & tailset, used his ears well, strong quarters, moved well;

2 Rutherford’s Carisco I’m Your Man, well presented, in good coat, pleasing head, good bone & body, showed well, 1 had the edge on movement;

3 Smith’s Killisport Mcnaught at Soarvale, pleasing head, nice neck & shoulders, in good condition, not putting all in.

OD (14,3)

1 Dixon’s Ch Chatterdale Top Gun, up to size but handles well, a long clean head with strong muzzle & good mouth, good eye, legs & feet, correct front, good body, level topline which he kept on the move, strong quarters, moved soundly. CC;

2 Biche’s Lux/Dan Ch Sir Darnley's Qubic Q, long clean head, good eye & ears, well bodied with a nice outline, good quarters & tailset. RCC;

3 Bogdan’s Hun Ch Ashkeltar Black Bean, shorter in head than 1 & 2 but it is balanced, good eye & ears, nice bone & substance, clean shoulders with a level topline, showed & moved well.

GCD (1)

1 Greenwood’s Petmon Light Of My Life, well presented, could carry more weight to advantage, showed well.

VB (4,2)

1 Hovagimyan’s Lux/Pol/Int Ch Verascott Power Of Love, 9 years old & still has a clean head, good legs & feet, well bodied & in good coat, carries her age well, a credit to her owners, enjoying her day out;

2 Cooke’s Krystalbrook Gypsy Rose, 7½ years, balanced head, adequate bone & body. Not showing with enthusiasm.

PB (4,1)

1 Beckton’s Kentwella Karamel by Glengracie, nice wheaten, 11 months old, clean balanced head with a good mouth, well boned legs & well padded feet, clean shoulders with elbows tucked in, well rounded ribs, just the right amount of weight, good quarters, level topline at all times;

2 Earl’s Rolanka Queen Of Hearts, wheaten. Not the bone or substance of 1. Shown in good coat & trim, moved out well, needs to grow on;

3 Rundle’s Samstevever Hint Of A Tint, 10 months old. Not the quality of 1 & 2. In good coat. Moved sluggishly.

JB (2)

1 Corney’s Rilynson Sunshine Princess, typy bitch with a clean balanced head, neat ears, good neck & shoulders, nice front with good legs & feet, well bodied, low to ground, well angulated quarters with well let down hocks, well presented, moved & showed well;

2 Mills’ Sweetgarret Bonny Blossom of Blackthorpe, preferred head & shoulders of 1. Good in body, adequate bone. Not in her best coat. Showed well.

PGB (15,1)

A good class.

1 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Supertramp, smart cobby bitch with quality clean balanced head, good eye & ears, good front legs & feet, well rounded ribs, good angulated quarters with well let down hocks, good double coat, presented in good condition & trim. moved & showed well;

2 Corney’s Rilynson Island Princess, pleasing head, eye & ears, nice neck & shoulders, good body & topline, adequate bone, in good coat showed & moved well;

3 Shaw’s Terratom Latte, another presented in good order, pleasing head, good legs & feet, well bodied, good quarters, moved well.

LB (11,1)

1 Mahmoudi’s Brio Inquizitive, nicely presented, in good trim & condition, balanced long clean head with a strong muzzle & good mouth, good eye & used her ears well, well rounded ribs, level topline with good tailset, strong quarters, moved with drive;

2 Bichel’s Sir Darnley's Rambling Ruby, another presented well, preferred the head of 1, nice neck & shoulders, cobby body, in good double coat. Not quite the drive of 1;

3 Morris’ Lucia's Dream Serenade Scotchmore, handles well, well bodied, in good coat & trim. A bit lazy with her ears.

OB (13,4)

1 Musser’s Am Ch Round Town Mercedes of Maryscot, quality bitch standing foursquare, clean balanced head with good strong muzzle, perfect mouth, good eyes & ears, good front with well boned straight legs, up on her toes & elbows well tucked in, nice neck & shoulders, well rounded ribs & carrying just the right amount of body weight, level topline at all times, correct tailset, well angulated quarters & well let down hocks, excellent double coat that fitted like a glove, has great ring presence, covering the ground well when moving, excellent presentation, I loved her & was pleased to award her CC & BOB;

2 Miller’s Ch Brio Exquizite, bigger bitch who also has a nice balanced head, good eye, good front with nice legs & feet, well bodied, good tailset & quarters, showed well, unlucky to meet 1. RCC;

3 Annan’s Lomondview Clementin, balanced throughout, clean head, neat ears, nice neck & shoulders, adequate bone, showed well.

GCB (1)

Greenwood’s Petmon Miss Tiggywinkle, smart mover, very well presented like her litter brother, needs more body.
