SCOTTISH JUDGE NAT DOG SHOW 09

Scottish Terriers

Quite a varied collection of Scottish Terriers & overall coat presentation could improve, but also size. Some dogs are now too big & coarse instead of being strongly made. The perfect combination between bone & substance & overall quality seems very difficult to attain.

PD (2)

1 Marshall’s Benartybrae Bugatti, promising brindle baby puppy with good bone & body, very deep & solid with masculine head & well set tail, moved well for one so young, very promising & presented in good coat & condition;

2 Marshall’s Benartybrae Rumba, also promising & almost the same age as his kennelmate, clean head, good outline, coat & movement, a little lighter all through & he needs to body up, very well behaved for one so young.

JD (3,1a)

1 Boyce’s Trakside By The Loch, attractive light brindle dog in beautiful coat & condition, very hard coat, big body, good ribs, bone & topline, masculine head with very neat ears & dark eye, shows well & strode out really well, tail detracts a little from overall balance. RCC;

2 Bettis’ Glenheath Independent by Ornella, black, very deep bodied dog with excellent quarters & tailset, poor front & head could be longer, showed OK.

PGD (5,2)

1 Rowland’s Berrybreeze Bo Diddley at Rabbonai, very masculine black dog, well up to size & I would like him shorter coupled, level top, very good quarters, hard coat, poor front, head could be cleaner but of good length, showed well;

2 Annan’s Lomondview Valentino, very short backed brindle with lovely head, eyes & ears, excellent neck & shoulders & very good body properties, tail set well & he has a good hard coat, was not happy in the ring;

3 Hill’s Bonnieanne Norman of Tahgmor.

LD (4)

1 Montgomery’s Gaterin Brigadoon, very soundly constructed dark brindle who handles really well on the table, excellent head & eye, very good front, bone & body which is deep with level back, sound quarters & good tail. Coat could perhaps be harder & trimming needs to improve to enhance his many good points. Showed really well & was an easy winner in this class;

2 Barnett’s Barnwin Beam Me Up, big, black masculine dog who has thickened considerably since I judged him last time, head could be cleaner & he was not very co-operative on the move. Very deep body & plenty of bone;

3 Smith’s Killisport McNaught at Soarvale. OD (4) 1 Kenny’s Ch Millingford Northern Rock, very smart, showy black of correct size, moving & showing with great precision, long clean head with good eyes & ears, excellent front, outline & quarters. CC & BOB; 2 Dixon’s Ch Chatterdale Top Gun, very showy assertive dog presented in excellent coat & condition, but bigger than 1 & I would have liked him shorter in back, long head, good front & rear, well up to size. 3 Annan’s Lomondview Scrumpy Jack.

PB (4)

1 Annan’s Lomondview Yours Truly, delightful showy brindle, full of self-confidence, very long head, good front & rear, excellent body & outline, tail bang on top & she moved & showed as if she owned the place. BP;

2 Rowland’s Rabbonai Cupcake, very solid black with good head & eyes & excellent body properties, hard coat coming through, needs to tighten in rear movement, very happy showgirl;

3 Marshall’s Benartybrae Charleston.

JB (2)

1 Boyce’s Trakside Fairytale, smart feminine brindle with good body, clean head with good eyes & ears. Could do with a little more bone. Presented in excellent condition & she showed well;

2 Beckton’s Kentwella Karamel by Glengracie, big wheaten who handles well on the table but carrying too much weight & coat could have been presented in better order. Clean head of good length, excellent front & rear, very deep body. Rather heavy on the move.

PGB (9,3)

1 Pagram’s Torcraig Fair Enough, quality wheaten with really good head & very keen expression, perfect front, deep body, level topline & excellent quarters, hard wheaten coat, moved well. CC;

2 Chapman’s Berrybreeze Supertramp, really good bitch with excellent overall proportions, head of good length, excellent front, body & rear, well set tail, very short of coat today & almost devoid of undercoat, excellent fluid movement;

3 Long & Kit’s Elfricia Black Number.

LB (3)

1 Thomson’s Ashgate Royal Penny, lovely type & really lovely clean head of good length, excellent front, neck & shoulders, very good body & big quarters, shown in lovely coat & condition & she moved well. Tends to flatten out a little on the move but a bitch that I like very much. RCC;

2 Pagram's Torcraig Black Pearl JW

3 Montgomery’s Scotline Scarlette at Montscot.
