Scottish Terriers

The entry of 56 dogs making 57 entries was very pleasing & I would like to thank the exhibitors for their support. I was a little worried by the behaviour of one or two of the young dogs in the earlier classes. A bit more discipline & training by some exhibitors would be worthwhile, as it does not look good for the breed when dogs appear to be ready to scrap with one another.

There was quite a variation in type but I was very pleased by the top winners.

V (5,1a)

1 Greenwood’s Petmon Miss Tiggywinkle, OK in head without being overly heavy there, could do with just a shade more neck & a bit more tail coat. Good topline. Enough body substance without being overdone. Good hindquarters with plenty of muscle;

2 Mahmoudi’s Ch Brio Inquizitive, another pleasing bitch, good in neck & outline, a shade overdone in body but pleasing in head. Good topline & tailset;

3 Corney’s Rilynson Island Princess.

MPD (2,1)

1 Milburn-Gates’ Liroda Midnight Countdown, needs to develop in coat but OK for his age. Promising in head & OK in ears. Needs to tighten up a bit in topline. Moves better behind than in front. Well bodied for age.

PD (1)

1 Tyler’s Divadell Room At The Top, a bit heavy in head at this stage without enough length & could be better in eye. OK in neck & moved out reasonably well. Not showing to best advantage. Could be better in tail. Coat developing well for his age. OK in body & rib.

JD (5,2)

1 Chick’s Brueik All The Aces, not in the best of coats & could be better in tail. Needs a bit more furnishings & was a shade heavy in skull, OK in bone & enough body;

2 Pagram’s Torcraig Golden Chance, a shade lacking in neck & could be better in shoulder. Presentation & coat not at its best today;

3 Hovagimyan’s Verascott Jumpin Jack Flash.

YD (3)

1 Pagram’s Torcraig Sydnificant, a very pleasing youngster who seemed good in head & expression with a good eye & correct skull. Good neckline & well presented. Could be slightly more positive in tailset. Not overdone in body. Good in front. Moved out well. Good tail shape;

2 V Jumpin Jack Flash, behaved slightly better here than in the previous class;

3 Tyler’s Tobey Or Not To Bey.

PGD (5)

1 T Sydnificant;

2 Greenwood’s Petmon Light Of My Life, 8 years old but showed a very good outline, was reluctant to perform early in the class but improved as the class went on. Better in head than 3 with good skull. Good neck & topline where he was better than 3, had a typical outline & OK in tailset & body;

3 Sykes’ Sandbourne Ready Freddie Go.

LD (4,1)

Not a great limit class.

1 Meek’s Benartybrae Macarena at Benbetham, this dog had a pleasing enough outline on the move which is where he scored over 2 but was very heavy in neck. Moved out OK. Good rib & held his topline well on the way around the ring. Coat not at its best;

2 Hill’s Samstevever Gold Amulet, somewhat better in head & length of skull than 1 but could have been presented to better advantage. Could be better in shoulder but better in topline than

3 Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor.

OD (6,2)

1 Bradley & Herd’s Ch Brueik’s Bjorn, very pleasing in head with a good length & width of skull & not overdone. Good in eye & expression. Good neck, topline & outline & correct body proportions all round. Not a big dog but had a good deal of quality & type. Correct length of back where he scored over 2. Moved true in front & behind & shown in good coat & condition. Excellent in body with plenty of rump behind the tail. CC;

2 Miller’s Ch Brio Oliver Twist, a stronger made dog all round with very good bone. OK in skull. Good neck but could be just a shade shorter in back. Moved well in front & behind. Good in rib & loin. Pleasing in bone & good feet. RCC;

3 Rutherford’s Ch Carisco Midas Touch.

GC (1)

1 Greenwood’s Petmon Royal Magician, this dog was not keen to show which was a pity as he had some positive virtues. Good in body & topline, OK in set on of tail, moved out well in front & behind. Sadly he just wouldn’t show.

MPB (1)

1 Broome & Milburn-Gates’ Liroda Midnight Kiss at Evingbriar, a pleasing youngster for her age. Good in head & expression, & developing well there. Good neck flowing into correct topline. She moved out well &, though she needs a bit more ring training, showed with the enthusiasm you hope for from a puppy. Coat coming in well & enough body for age. Good bone for age also, & has a typical outline for a pup of this age. BP.

PB (3,1)

1 Corney’s Rilynson Aruba Arehucas, scored in head over 2 here, neither of these two were in the best of coats. Could be better in front but moved better behind. Enough body for age. Good skull & correct in eye. Good tailset & OK in hindquarters;

2 Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor, underneath all that coat there is quite a good bodied youngster. Moved out quite well behind. The quantity of coat did not help her head to look good. Enough neck.

JB (3) T

he second here did not behave well enough to win the class.

1 Rutherford’s Carisco My Leading Lady, OK in neck but could be better & a shade cleaner in head. Showed well & moved OK behind. Well proportioned & plenty of substance;

2 Hovagimyan’s Verascott Juicy Couture, misbehaved during the class & at the last minute got worse. A pity as I preferred her head to that of 1. Good outline with a pleasing neck & topline & tailset. Had a good deal of type but just would not get on with moving well enough to be properly assessed;

3 Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor.

YB (4,1)

1 Pagram’s Torcraig Sea Pearl, very good outline & slightly better in back length than 2. Good in head, eye & expression. Pleasing in neck & topline. Enough substance, well slung in front. Good in hindquarters & moved out well;

2 V Juicy Couture;

3 Walker’s Beaureveur Cassia.

PGB (4)

1 T Sea Pearl;

2 Meeks’ Benartybrae Love In A Mist at Benbetham, very pleasing in head & though not quite the topline of 1, she was good in skull & had enough strength of foreface. Good in neck but not quite as good in topline at times when standing. Could be in better coat but moved out well. Good bone & correct feet;

3 Hoare’s Brueik Bright And Beautiful at Glenaffric.

LB (4,2)

Another rather disappointing limit class.

1 Sykes’ Benartybrae Apache Tear, OK in neck itself but dipped a shade behind the shoulder. Was better in head than 2. Good head proportions, correct tail. Enough depth & enough coat;

2 Morrey’s Celebrity du Moulin De McMmonique, not in good coat which was past its best. Better in topline than 1 but could be better in skull. Enough body substance but could have moved a shade more positively in front.

OB (6,3)

1 Khenkina’s McVan’s To Russia With Love, just as much of a star as ever though not in quite as good coat as the last time I saw her. She has a classic Scottie head with the right strength of skull without it looking over heavy. Excellent neck & good in shoulder with good depth of chest. Good in topline & very good in body. She shows her head off & moves with really good drive behind & very positively in front. CC & BOB;

2 Boyce’s Trakside Scotsmans Girl, pleasing in body substance & outline. Moved well in front & behind. Excellent coat & moved out well but not with the same drive & verve as 1. RCC;

3 Milburn-Gates’ Liroda Liquorice Lace.
