Judge's report Crufts 09
It was an honour and a privilege to be invited to judge the terrier group at the most prestigious dog show in the world. It is an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Special thanks must go to the organisation for the invitation to judge this group and for the hospitality extended to me.
I selected eight for further consideration. The Bull Terrier, Wire Fox, Glen of Imaal, Lakeland, Sealyham, Scottish, Irish and Norwich. Having moved each of them once more, it was decision time.
G1. The Sealyham, Am/Can/Sw Ch Efbe’s Hidalgo at Goodspice, a really outstanding dog, presented and shown to perfection. Without doubt he is the best Sealyham I have seen and easily one of the best dogs I have judged of any breed in the past 48 years of judging. His showmanship is something special and he really commands attention – and deserves it. Must be one of the all time greats. I will never forget him.
G2. The Scottie, Am Ch Round Town Mercedes of Maryscot, an impressive female in good condition and superbly presented, lovely head, neck and shoulders, good tailset and hindquarters, great body condition, moved freely but not with the vigour of the Sealyham. Handled to perfection.
G3. The Norwich, Ch Ragus Rings True, a top class dog in excellent coat and condition, beautiful head and ears, lovely expression, short back, good tailset, good legs and feet, very well presented and handled.
G4. The Irish, Ch Brazan Seghill, beautiful bitch in great condition, typical head and ears, good neck and well placed shoulders, lovely size, nice length of body, very sound, showed very well and moved freely, excellent presentation.
