SEALYHAM CRUFTS 18 Judge(s): MR W R IRVING Thanks to the exhibitors for an excellent entry of 50 from 43 dogs, and thanks also to my very efficient Stewards who enabled the judging to be through in around two hours. I felt that, in the main, heads were very good with good skulls and plenty of strength of muzzle. Coats were variable with some in fuller coat than others and some lacked harshness and/or undercoat. Movement behind was generally better than in front though a few went closer behind than I would have preferred. Size was very variable with some, particularly bitches, rather too big. The exhibits were invariably spotlessly clean and there was very little evidence of the over use of chalk. My thanks to the exhibitors for the sporting way in which they took my decisions. 1. Jung's Ger Ch Game of Denmark Von Der Loewenburg, a very pleasing dog at ten years old, OK in eye with good expression, good skull, good neck, could be harsher in coat. Moved better behind than in front. Good in rib and enough depth of chest. Enough bone 1 Wonnacott's Dancer's Welsh Wizard, not a small dog whose coat was not at its best but very good in head. Moved extremely well in front. Good tight feet and good pasterns. Excellent length of neck and good topline which is where he scored here, correct in tail; and showed all the time. Best Puppy. 2. Bettis' Dudwell German Gambler Gandalf by Ornella, more medium in length of body than 3, pleasing in head with enough width of skull, good ears and correct clean neck, scored in front movement over 3. Good coat for age and correct size. 3. Jones & Bull's Odstable Bruce Banner, at this stage looks a shade long in body but OK in head and expression. Moved better behind than in front. Coat could be better but has age on his side in that regard. Good bone. 1. Evans' Nileda Our Mutual Friend, good head, expression eye and ears. Good neck and OK in rib, plenty of depth and breadth of chest, moved better behind than in front. Good outline and OK for size, not so good in tail. 2.Dudwell German Gambler Gandalf by Ornella. 3. Preston's Eleighwater Alibrando, not so good in front and could be better trimmed there to help the picture, Very pleasing in head and OK in eye, good strong jaw. Good tail and tail carriage. OK in coat and pleasing in hindquarters. 1. Gledhill's Forlegd Brilliant Bilbo Baggins, a dog with good length of neck and correct topline. OK in tail. Coat texture good but not a lot of it. Moved pretty well in front, better there than behind where he was just a shade close, good strength of jaw and enough underjaw. Correct ears. Very good depth of chest and enough bone. 2.Eleighwater Alibrando 1. Lewis Nomis Naughty Boy, moved very well in front and with a great deal of drive behind. Not too long in body - just about right. Good coat and plenty of it. Correct tail Good tight feet. Good outline and OK in head with the right amount of dome and width. 2. Eleighwater Alibrando. 1. Bledge & Good's Am Ch Goodspice Dreams of USA at Blomanda, a dog which is big enough and not overdone for either size or length, and very pleasing in outline with the right balance of length to height. Very good in head and expression with correct eye and good ears. Moved very well behind, presented a very typical outline with correct neck and topline. Shoulder placement looked good. Enough coat of good texture. Enough bone and good forechest. Could be better in tail, Scored over 2 for head. Went on to take Dog CC and BOB 2. Kirst's Sutliff's Yuma, another pleasing and smart dog of good proportions. Could have slightly more head furnishings to complete the picture. Good ears, good clean neck and correct tail set. Good in bone. Moved better in front than behind. Went on to take Reserve DCC. 3. Bettis Ch Ornella Country Living ShCM, a good moving dog with excellent coat. Good skull and eye. Could be more positive in topline and better in front feet. Very good tail and tail carriage, and had plenty of hindquarters behind the tail. 1. Bledge & Hawks' Ch/Am/Can Ch Thunder Road This Kiss, very pleasing bitch of eleven years to whom I see I have given a CC previously. Good in front and has good feet. Very typical in head with the right expression. Good level topline. Plenty of muscle and good feet. Moved out well behind. Ended up as Best Veteran. 2. Trezise-Dundas Cibach Cheeky Chops at Firstwish. Could be better in skull but really good strength of muzzle. Could do with a shade more neck to complete the picture but good bone and enough spring of rib. Could be harsher and denser in coat. 1. Smith's Dudwell Golden Girl Gwenny at Grevenia, smaller bitch than 2 but I thought scored in head. OK in coat for age though needs a bit more of it. Very pleasing in neck with good level topline and correct tailset. Good shoulder. Needs time to body up but good feet and enough bone for age. Was not able to compete for Best Puppy as was elsewhere in the show at the time. 2. Jones' Jacott Dancers Welsh Beauty, rather stronger type, with excellent spring of rib, not quite the head and expression of 1 and needs a bit more head furnishing. Moved well in front but could be slightly tighter in feet. Good coat texture. Good spring of rib. Enough length of body. Good turn of stifle. 3. Parker's Whitecapisla Tiffintime good head with correct breadth of skull. Needs a bit more grooming to complete the picture. Could be better in front and didn't stride out very well. Enough body and bone. 1 Merzlikina Dartan's Company Icon of Style, not a small bitch but she moved very well in front and behind, good head and skull with good ears. Tail of good shape but could be carried higher at times. Good bone and good feet. Good in hindquarters when she got going but she didn't always get going, and when that happened she was a shade close in hock. Very good coat texture. 2. Clark Firstwish Serabel at Fennekin, very good in head and expression with good ears and correct eye. Good for length. Not quite the showmanship of 1 and occasionally let herself down at times. Very pleasing outline and good spring of rib. Good coat and OK in hindquarters. 3. Trezise-Dundas' Firstwish Ara, very much a youngster that needs a bit more head furnishing and more coat to complete the picture. Good neck but could be better in front, OK in rib and loin Enough bend of stifle. 1. Bettis' Ornella in Vogue, better for size than 2 and rather more feminine looking. She moved well in front and behind, though could be slightly better in elbow. Good neck, correct harsh coat. Good ears. Enough length of body without being overdone. Good topline behind the shoulder. 2. Jones & Bull's Ornella Idaknow, slightly bigger type of bitch but OK in head. Good tailset and good hindquarters which were well muscled. Coat not at its best. Could be better in topline behind the shoulder. Good bone and good feet. 3. Trezise-Dundas' Cibach Carys at Firstwish needs a bit more coat and better head furnishings, but good square jaw.. Excellent tight feet. Moved well behind and had good depth and breadth of chest and well proportioned. 1. Oulton & Fourie's Seasmolt Sassy Sunflower of Whooperhill, scored in topline over 2 though could do with a shade more length of neck. Excellent tail and tail carriage. Very good head and expression with correct ears and good eye. Enough strength of jaw. Moved out well in front and behind. Good tight feet. Good for size. 2. James' Blomendal Cookies N Cream, a very strong bitch which was really good in front and hind movement Good stifles and well muscled behind. Very good hard coat texture, OK in head and has enough depth of chest. I would have preferred her just a shade smaller and firmer in topline. 3. Trezise-Dundas' Firstwish Blossom Hill, not moving so well in front and could be better and more driving in hind action. Needs a bit more coat and harder coat texture. Enough neck and good tail carriage. 1. Jung's Ch/Int Ch Hermione Granger Von Der Loewenburg, a bitch shown with plenty of coat of correct texture and had undercoat, excellent in head with very typical expression. Could have a shade more length of neck but very good in topline and was better in coat than 2. Very pleasing in rib and body shape. Moved well behind. Good bone and correct tight feet. Went on to win the BCC. 2. Daly's Ch/Ir Ch Forlegd Bubbly Belladonna Baggins at Thornberryhall, a very smart bitch of the right size and shape, very good in head and expression with good eye and correct shape of skull. Good topline. Showed very well. Moved well too. Just a bit overdone in presentation and didn't have enough coat or undercoat on the day. Went on, however, to win the Res BCC, 3. Newbury's Ch Eleighwater Araminta, very pleasing in outline and had good coat of the right texture. Good head and expression with enough breadth of skull. Good in neck and correct tailset and carriage.
