SEALYHAM CRUFTS 25 Judge: Mrs Z Thorn-Andrews A satisfying entry of 43, in this now minority breed, which is sad to see, as they are one of our old native breeds. The best exhibits all presented in first class coats and good body condition, but I was shocked to find quite a number of dirty dogs, with stained legs & feet, tangled or matted under the top coats, showing off their dirty coats at this our top show, to the general public. Why I ask? Spend all that money both entering and getting to the venue, if you just turn up on the day with poorly turned out terriers. I want them to be of “working type” but not on a show day, when they should be looking their best! VD (1) 1 Ch Nileda Our Mutual Friend (Evans) Best Veteran Handsome & smart, both standing & moving, & dead true both ways. Coat a little on the soft side maybe. Lovely head, with slightly domed skull. Good dark pigment. Sound straight legs and nice tight feet. Level, flexible backline, good underneath his chest and ribbing too, for width and length of ribcage. PD (3) 1 Obi Wan Kenobi of Kindergarten at Seasmolt (Imp Hun) (Salmon) B Puppy Unsettled, but appealed for overall type, good quality coat, with undercoat too. OK in front & rear angulation. Tail comes over the body too far when moving. A promising puppy.. Hope he settles with more practice. 2 Panthermead Kerplunk (Allison) Coat rather untidy and softer in texture than above. Stands with his front too wide, but moves better in front than he stands. Reasonable topline, tail set well. 3 Afterglow’s Golden Ticket (import Usa) (Pawson, Mantle & Mantle & Inman Lee) JD (3) 1 Whooperhill Kings Ransom (Franassovici) Smart & well turned out. Good head shape and strength. Pigment acceptable round eyes, as the standard tolerates un-pigmented eyes. Very neat and impressive on the move, holding a level back, well ribbed & it is let down nicely for a junior. Powerful, impressive quarters. A serious contender for future honours. 2 Zippor Skye Fawkes (Ashley-Smith) Better pigment round eyes giving a lovely expression. Rather out in front a touch, & dips in the back, and not the lovely ribbing of winner. Really powerful boy, strong in rear, and drives of his hocks going round. PGD (4) 1 Lord of The Rings of Taita’s Ushabti at Gelodnea ( . Khrenov) Scruffy maybe, but sound and precise moving. Pleasing head & pigment. Front pretty good to go over. Ribcage cuts up too sharply underneath. Excellent topline, Good going away. Handling could improve. 2 Ladeler Dilwyn Garth (Bentham) Needs ring training as he was pulling & choking on the lead. Good for size, fairly well made for conformation. Powerful, impressive rear. & very well muscled up. With more training could be a handy dog for the breed. 3 Zippor Skye Fawkes (Ashley-Smith) LD (6) 1 Ornella King Midas JW ( Bettis) R CC When he got over his initial shock of being in a noisy Crufts ring, he cheered up, moved with his tail well up, & was sound and co-ordinated moving. Loved his head, ears set nicely to the side, and set correctly. Well off for bone, excellent topline, a good type and high quality. 2 Lord of The Rings of Taita’s Ushabti at Gelodnea (Khrenov) 3 Jolihem Lene Joe Badger (Curtis) OD (4) 1 Ch Whooperhill Sandman Nl Jch (Oulton & Holderness Rumsey) CC The best presented so far! His coat was amazing..Well handled, neatly made thoughout, & owns a beautiful head and expression to die for. Tail comes over a bit too far, otherwise a cracker. 2 Ch Zippor Sleepy Sapphireson at Letara (Bell) Sire of above I see, Just a little portly in body, but he does hold a steady topline. Also appealed for head type, & strength in jaws. Eyes set well and not too big. Neat true front, well made quarters, moved out briskly with some drive all ways. 3 Lord of The Rings of Taita’s Ushabti at Gelodnea (Khrenov) VB (3) 1 Firstwish Ara (Trezise-Dundas) has a hard jacket, loved her temperament. Good skull & ear set. Sound true front, maybe a little too straight behind, and dips in her back going round. 2 Bullbrit Shady Lady of Nunneley (Courtenay-Warren & Krykunivsky) Also has a dip in her back, & not the coat texture of 1st. Excellent size & overall proportions, showing a correct oblong body shape. Lovely temperament. Moved cheerfully too. PB (1) 1 Panthermead Twister at Penravebay (Hayes) Dirty underneath and stained legs & feet. A lovely Sealyham youngster who deserved better presentation, after all this is a showcase for pedigree dogs. Sound free moving bitch, Nice for type too. PGB (6) 1 Dudwell Ottillie Our One and Only Jww Ejw Multi Jch (Weser) Big and a little doggy, which was not too much of a problem I decided. The best presented in the class, Good mover, showing off correct proportions of height to length. She pulls a little on the lead, but she is very sound, I thought her size would not affect her hunting too much. Well handled. 2 Dionaha Winnie (Flower) More feminine, and better size, but has a tendency to stand too close in front, and lacks width between the forelegs. Maybe not as smooth on the profile go round as winner. Nicely presented coat, good bone for size, and a well carried tail. 3 Magembay Muchova of Nunneley (Courtenay-Warren & Krykunivsky) LB (45) 1 Whooperhill Serendipity for Letara (Bell) Neat, and precise moving, I thought she was a little too square in proportions, and tail comes over the body too far. Liked her head, front is pleasing. Better feet than second. Beautifully presented which I appreciated. 2 Grevenia Higwen Amber Queen (Smith) She has a more correct length to her back, but ribbing is rather short, & longer in loin. Moved well in profile and rear. Lovely head and expressive clean eyes. 3 Rowanrae Dream Weaver (Rumney & Doley) OB (5) 1 Ch Nunneley Hopscotch over Ornella JW ShCEx OSW (Bettis) CC BOB I really admired the first three. All super! Would have been delighted to award a CC to any of them. Winner holds herself proudly. Great long stride in profile, well put together under a coat in good order. Charming head & expression. She looked good in the group later on. 2 Ch/multi/int Ch Whooperhill So Charming (Oulton & Fourie) Also appealed for type. Her coat not quite as hard on her back as above, & topline not quite as firm. Absolutely precise up & down, good bone, excellent pigment, overall a lovely bitch. 3 Ch Magembay Merrydah (Mcneillis) Good Citizen B ( 1) 1 Winter May (Frimston & Wainwright) Good for size, & nicely feminine. Front not quite as good as her lovely quarters, which was strong and forceful moving. Well bodied. Pleased me for head and charming temperament Zena Thorn Andrews
