SEALYHAM JUDGE LKA 22

My thanks to the Ladies Kennel Association for giving me the opportunity to award my first set of Challenge Certificates in Sealyham Terriers, a breed I have fell in love with and owned. In addition, my appreciation must go to the exhibitors for the truly grand entry in both numbers, by today’s standards, and quality. Pleased to report all exhibits presented with a correct bite, but better presentation on a couple of exhibits would benefit enormously.

PD (1)

1. Challenger’s Rowanrae Dream Come True. This 10 months pup has a pleasing head and ear carriage, muscular neck, good angulation at both ends and his well-groomed coat is coming along nicely.

PGD 3(1)

1. Curtis’s Jolihem Lene Joe Badger. One I have judged before. He has a masculine head with a dark eye, enough ribbing and good for hindquarters, moving off well but a tad more attention on the grooming side is needed, he has rather pink feet. 2. Lee’s Ornella Chocolate Orange. A beautiful outline on this handsome, well-groomed lad, he’s put down in good order. Pleasing skull and clean eye, ample bone and a good front. However, he lost out today on movement as although looks well moving in profile, he moves rather wide going away.

LD (1)

1. James’ Nileda Mister Jo. Super looking chap with a well-balanced outline, I really liked him and he pushed hard for top honours. Not the biggest but he has a super head and furnishings, good front with depth and he moves off well on his strong quarters, hocks well letdown. He’s groomed really well, so clean and white all through.

OD 3(1)

1. Evans’ Ch. Nileda Our Mutual Friend. Very nice, no mistaking the sex of this handsome boy. I was a big fan of his sire and his type has really come through. He has a masculine head with a dark eye and a punishing jaw, muscular neck, good shoulder placement with elbows tucked in and well sprung ribs. A strong rear end which he uses on the move. He has good bone on his sturdy limbs and stands on excellent feet. His harsh coat is in superb order and so well handed I was pleased to award him the CC.

2. Bell’s Ch. Zippor Sleepy Sapphireson at Letara. This sturdy chap is a little taller on the leg than 1st He has a pleasing head and a dark eye, muscular neck, correct front and a strong top-line. His hocks are well let down and he moves with that brisk gait. Presentation and handling top class; a more than worthy Champion, Res CC.

VD/B 2(1)

1. Evans’ Ch. Nileda Great Expectations Sh.CM. What a cracker this 8 year old girl is. Another I have judged before. She has a beautiful expressive head and well-placed ears, good angulation at both ends and elbows tucked in. She is trimmed so well and has sparkling white coat. Top-line a tad slack today but moved well.

1. Challenger’s Rowanrae Like a Dream. Litter sister to PD winner. Super puppy full of exuberance who seemed more than happy in this noisy atmosphere. She has a well-proportioned head, good shoulders, plenty behind the tail and coat in good order. BP.

JB 2(0)

1. McNeilus’s Magembay Merrydah. At 15 months, I liked this girl’s type, she has an excellent outline. A pretty, feminine bitch but with ample bone. She has enough depth, good layback of shoulder, good for ribbing and strong quarters with plenty behind the tail. Excellent trimming and presentation, with a coat as white as driven snow. I shall watch her progress with interest as seriously considered for top honours.

2. Smith’s Grevenia Higwen Amber Queen. 14 months, another well-made bitch, slightly higher on the leg than 1st. She has a well-proportioned head and a good length of neck with a pleasing front, plenty of spring to her ribs, well-made quarters and neat feet, moves off well.

PGB 1(0)

1. Parker’s Whitecapisla Tiffintime. This girl left her jacket at home today but she’s all in proportion. She’s OK for head and has a dark eye, front has enough layback and depth but not overenthusiastic about being here.

LB 5(0)

1. Bettis’s Nunneley Hopscotch Over Ornella JW. This 19-month-old bitch ticked all the boxes for me. She has a beautiful outline both on the stack and moving, presenting a balanced picture. With enough length to her muzzle, she has a dark eye and well-placed ears. A muscular neck of good length leading seamlessly into well angulated, clean shoulders with a well-developed fore chest and elbows tucked in. She has a firm top-line, ribs well sprung and a strong loin. Being very picky I’d like to see a little more behind her tail but her hocks are strong, well bent and she uses them to move with that brisk, driving gait the standard calls for. Her coat is in outstanding condition and trimmed to the highest order. CC & BOB.

2. Lee’s Zippor Miss Fairy Footsteps. A shorter coupled girl, I’m so pleased to see she has lost a little weight since I last judged her. Well-made and sturdy all through although this does not detract from her femininity. She has a good width of skull although I’d prefer a little more length to her muzzle, a good front and top-line with plenty behind the tail. She has a good texture to her coat, as harsh as you like.

3. Courtenay-Warren/Krykunivsky’s Bullbrit Shady Lady of Nunneley.

OB 1(0)

1. Wonnacott’s Jacott Sunshine. I adore this 4 year old bitch and I have done her well in the past. So lovely I could have taken her home but unfortunately, she just wasn’t putting her all in today. She has a truly feminine head with enough width between her well placed, neat ears and a dark eye. Well angulated at both ends she has a good spring of rib and holds her top-line. She has strong quarters, hocks well let down and moves off well. As is the norm from this kennel, presentation is outstanding, she looked a picture in her sparkling white jacket. So well-balanced and typy I was happy to award her the Res CC.
