Sealyham Terriers

Please don’t be offended in what I am go to write, not being a breed specialist but very fond of the breed & being an ex-working terrier man I feel the breed is on a slippery slope.

There were a few here today who could never ever do what they were bred for & if you want to keep the breed true you must breed to type & use the best dog & bitches available.

Only having 13 entered you may say I did not see all, but I saw enough to worry about this wonderful Welsh breed.

PD

1 Bettis’ Dudwell Double Decca D’Ornella, 7 month old quality puppy dog, lovely head for one so young, great teeth & bite, correct ear, body of good length, very good bone, moved just like puppies do but saw enough to give him BP, love to see him in a few months time when I think he will go to the top, cracking young man.

JD

1 Smith’s Charmer Marvel, nice headed dog. Correct mouth, coat a little soft at the moment & like to see him a tad longer, moved OK. PGD 1 Charmer Marvel.

LD

1 Wonnaott’s Polrose Pied piper at Jacott, what a stunning young man, screams Sealyham. Correct domed skull, width between the ears correct, of medium sized, dark eye, correct mouth with punishing jaw, correct in neck. Short strong straight forequarters. Nice length of body, round feet with thick pads, stifles well bent, moved with drive, put down in A1 condition. No hesitation in giving him the CC & BOB, I hear his second, an easy champion, shortlisted in the group.

OD

1 Bettis’ Ch Polrose Parker Plus Ornella, another who says Sealyham. Very similar to 1 & looking at the catalogue I see they have the same mother, a very worthy champion but today I felt the limit dog moved that bit more positive, but loved him, a true terrier. RCC.

PB

1 Evans’ Nileda Great Expectations, 11 month old young lady, neat bitch, small all over but in proportion. Nice bone & straight front, moved well;

2 Trezise-Dundas’ Firstwish Blossom Hill, lot longer bitch than 1 & her coat very soft at the moment. Needs a lot more trimming to see some potential.

PGB

1 Salmon’s Seasmolt Lets Dance, I liked this bitch of good type, to reach her true potential she needs to be handled with more enthusiasm & she could do very well.

LB

1 Banks’ Amberwheats Hope N Smile with Willowaire, a very nice bitch, soon as I saw her I liked her wonderful head, powerful & long. Correct strong bite, in very good jacket, strong backend, good set on, moved with drive. No hesitation in awarding her the CC, I was told this gave her her fourth, I am sure she will have many more;

2 Trezise-Dundas’ Cibach Carys at Firstwish, not long had a litter & she needs a lot more body on her & condition. Would like to see her when she is at her best, not the presentation of 1.

OB

1 Lewis’ Ch Nomis Naughty And Nice, love these dogs from this breeder, as he knows, & this bitch was put down in A1 condition, not a hair out of place, lovely head, correct front, super jacket, moved with purpose. For me she needs a little more length in body but well deserved the RCC;

2 Wonnacott’s Ch Jacott Joy Bells, another lovely bitch, a little out of condition & just slightly dipping in topline today but another worthy champion. Thank you for brining your dogs under me
