SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE BOSTON 17

My sincere apologies for delayed report. Prolonged illness, coupled with varies other life issues, has led to a huge backlog. It is taking time to work through all the tasks and this one has unfortunately not been dealt with until now. I am very sorry and plead for empathy. Thank you for your patience.

It is always a great joy to judge this happy breed, so many thanks to the exhibitors for allowing me the pleasure to go over more lovely SCWTs. I have followed the breed with great interest for several decades by now and it has been encouraging to see how it has developed over the years, aided by a number of clever and enthusiastic breeders. I did find the overall quality very high with the only cause for concern being several dogs with questionable bites. Teeth are important and it is highly desirable that a SCWT has complete dentition with strong jaws, big teeth and scissor bite.

1 Dowdy’s Greentree Gold Mombo To Denzilly (IMP USA) This almost 11 months old boy oozes joie de vivre and “look at me” and immediately attracts attention. Closer inspection certainly doesn’t disappoint, because he really is so well put together. Lovely head with neat ears, dark eyes sparling with expression and excellent bite. Super front, good neck, well laid shoulders and deep, long ribcage plus strong loin. Excellent rear assembly enabling movement with easy drive. Tail well set on and with plenty behind; well let down hocks and strong feet. Excellent pigmentation, colour and coat quality. Very well presented and showed himself off to the full. RBD; BP.

2 Satherley’s Cameron Fighting Spirit For Silkcroft (IMP SWE) TAF. Only 6 ½ months old but already full of confidence and so much promise. Another one with excellent head, ears and expression plus strong jaws and correct dentition. Excellent front and feet and good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Very good rib to loin ratio and level topline. Tail on top and hocks well let down. Coat of excellent colour and quality coming on nicely. Moved out well with nice positive strides.

3 Brooks’ Loofahsa Yankee Doodle.

1 Satherley’s Cameron Fighting Spirit For Silkcroft.

2 Brooks’ Loofahsa Yankee Doodle. This sweet young boy had only just turned 6 months old and needed to build up confidence, so he was not fully cooperating, especially not on the move. Good ears and eyes and correct dentition. He needs to tighten up in front but has plenty of bone, good length of rib and short strong loin. Good pigmentation and coat coming on well.

1 Fallon’s CH Janeyjimjams Jenson JW SHCM. I judged this boy in his younger days and liked him then and like him now. Mature, masculine, with excellent proportions and a picture both standing and moving. Lovely head. Good front, reach of neck, well laid shoulders. Deep chest and level topline. Strong quarters, well set on tail and hocks well let down and covered the ground with ease. Very well presented in excellent jacket. BD.

2 Meister & Brooks’ Silkcroft Crest Of Waves. Another one with excellent outline and well-constructed head with neat ears. Good reach of neck fitting into well laid shoulders. Good rib and ratio to loin, level topline. Strong quarters giving very good movement.
