SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE BOSTON 20

I was delighted to be invited to judge SCWT without CCs and have such a good entry of quality dogs and bitches. I thought the quality very high. I must thank my stewards for the day Sue and Doug Telford for being so helpful.

PD (2)

1 Cartwright's Saffini We Will Rock You. I preferred the size and overall balance of my winner although slightly younger he certainly looked like what I was looking for and more to the standard at this time. Lovely well worked head and nicely furnished. Dark eyes well set and used dark ears correct jaw and dentition. Good neck length with slight arch into well set shoulder, correct chest development with straight well boned forelegs. Level backline to high set tail well carried over a body with depth and substance and presented in a natural silky puppy coat of good Wheaten colour. Strong hindquarters, short hocks which allowed him to be moved out well with reach and drive and with soundness. Gave him RBD.

2 Mason's Denzilly Golden Compass. An impressive male but in my opinion was just too tall and too well developed for his 10 months. As he grows older may fit more into himself. Masculine head of strength nice dark expressive eyes well covered, well set ears, strong muzzle and good teeth, well furnished beard. Strong neck to shoulders and firm level back little longer than my winner, high set tail carried little down over back. Well bodied with enough rib needing to be further back, presented in a natural wheaten jacket of lovely soft texture. Well boned straight forelegs and with good return of stifle and strong hocks, very unsettled on the move but sound once into his stride.

PGD (1)

1 Kenneally's Loofahsa Humdinger. 19 month well built masculine youngster presented well in a light soft textured natural looking light wheaten jacket. Head of correct balance just a little strong in the width of his skull, nice ear set and carriage, dark expressive eyes under good veiling and strong muzzle well covered with beard. Proud head carriage on good neck length into firm level backline with slightly low set tail but carried well. Would have like more front and rear angulation. Straight forelegs and well padded tight feet. Nicely bodied and ribbed back good depth and substance. Inclined to short stride, although sound both coming and going.

OD (3)

1 Dowdy's Ch Greentree Gold Mombo To Denzilly. My comments say I love all. I felt this well built and correctly balanced male was my stand-out having all that I was looking for. Masculine yet refined well coated and furnished head, correct skull width, well set and shaped dark bright eyes, high set and used dark ears, strong muzzle and jaw with correct dentition. Proud head carriage on slightly arched neck of good length into well laid shoulders, nicely angled front to straight well boned forelegs and padded round feet. Firm level backline with nice rump and high set correctly carried tail. Good depth of chest to a body with strength and muscle tone, having substance, nicely ribbed back into good loin. So well presented and conditioned rich wheaten soft textured coat of nice length. Good hindquarters with muscletone, return of stifle and short hocks. Powerful side stride really covered the ground, sound both coming and going with reach and drive. BD, BOB. Really gave of himself in a strong Terrier Group so pleased to see him shortlisted.

2 Barrett's Saffini Shining Star. A slightly different type and a little taller and stronger three and a half year old boy. Stronger in skull with a wider set on of ear well used, dark expressive eyes, strong muzzle and jaw well covered. Strong neck into shoulders, would have preferred little more upper arm angle. Legs well boned and coated with tight well padded feet, stands slightly out at elbow. Firm level backline, tail slightly low set but carried well. Good rump, moderated return of stifle and straight hocks. Slightly out at front, sound at rear but not having the side stride or reach of my winner.

3 Lui's Eblanahalls Aye Right.

PB (6, 1)

1 Dowdy's Denzilly Sweet Cariad. This young lady presented a stunning outline of lovely type with overall balance. It was only slight differences that separated the first three as the class was one of quality. I did like the femininity of this youngsters well built head, super coat and furnishings, thin high set dark ears, dark expressive eyes, good strength to muzzle and jaw correct dentition. Good length to a slightly arched neck set well into shoulders and into a firm level back with high well set and carried tail. Nicely angled front and rear with good depth of chest, straight fore well boned legs, padded round feet. Good rump and correct return of stifle and short hocks. Body having enough substance, well ribbed short loin. Super silky soft textured rich wheaten coat well presented. Very free sound mover excellent side stride and very sound with reach and drive. BB BPIB. Pleased to see her placed 4th in Puppy Terrier Group.

2 Satherley's Silkcroft Never Miss A Beat. Lovely outline presenting a stunning look of lovely type and balance. Something about my firsts head appealed but this youngster too has a lovely feminine head with good furnishings coming with high set and carried ears, expressive dark eyes, nice muzzle and jaw. Would have liked a little more neck, well set shoulders into a level backline tail little lower set but carried nicely. Lovely depth of body and having substance and ribs well back, had body tone. Beautifully presented and conditioned rich wheaten jacket of soft texture and good length. Straight well boned forelegs, nice rump and hindquarters with good return of stifle and short hocks, round padded feet a very sound free mover with good side stride and sound.

3 Paton's Denzilly Raspberry Beret.

1 English's Calvenace Boogie Oogie. This just 8 months bitch baby has a super outline and is so lovely to go over but her handlers lack of confidence and experience in handling which slightly let her down today, but with time this should come together. Very feminine nicely furnished head of correct width and length, correct skull, dark well set and used ears, dark eyes of good shape well set. Good neck length into well laid shoulders, firm backline good rump, tail little low set but carried well. Body well ribbed back short loin, with chest depth. Presented well in light wheaten silky soft coat of good length. Straight well boned forelegs and padded feet. Would have liked little more return of stifle and second thigh, short straight hocks. Needed to be moved faster so was inclined to pace but once settled on the move was little short striding but was sound both ends.

PGB (2, 1)

1 Tempesta's Kinaelan Finlandia Grace (AI). Lovely outline to this four and a half year old with a stunning condition and presented Irish type coat of soft silky texture, of light wheaten in colour with good length. Presented a nice outline on the stance with a good overall balance and build having enough angulation front and rear of a body with substance and depth and well ribbed back. I just felt today she was carrying a little too much weight which showed in her action. Well shaped feminine head, nice skull and length to muzzle, high set ears one needs to settle, dark eyes alert expression under good veiling. Big nose, strong jaw line. Good neck to shoulder and firm backline well set happy tail enjoying her day. Straight boned legs, stands little out at elbow and moves little wide at front, good hindquarters well muscled with short hocks. Moved out with strong rear action. Looked well in Special Beginners final with big ring moved out well covering the ground.

OB (6)

1 Munn's Snowmeadow Suzy Sixpence. What a stunning quality bitch to go over with a super outline of correct build and balance with lovely angulation front and rear, and with excellent muscletone. Beautiful head shape of correct proportions and width, well coated and furnished, correct use of high set on thin shaped ears, well shaped and set dark expressive eyes. Proud head carriage on good length of neck set into well laid back shoulders, firm level back of correct length, strong rounded rump, well set on tail carried correctly. Straight forelegs well boned to strong padded feet. With good depth to chest and body with substance, well ribbed back into a short loin covered in a natural coat with some length and excellent condition of bright wheaten colour and soft to touch. To be critical in my opinion I would love to see this coat with a little more presentation to the outline. Developed and muscled hindquarters, good return of stifle and short strong hocks. Outstanding side stride once settled, and sound both coming and going with reach and drive. BB, BOS.

2 Lui's Thistlebe Them There Eyes At Eblanahalls ShCm ShCEx. Lovely size and shape to this well put together lovely bitch who really takes the attention on the move with lovely free striding side gait and sound reach and powerful driving rear action. Her showmanship is helped by being very well handled with lovely positioning which shows off her virtues. Sweet head well balanced and with correct width from skull to muzzle with strong jaw and spongy nose. Correctly shaped dark ears well set and used, dark well set apart eyes. Proud head carriage on correct neck length and shape, set into shoulders with enough front angle to deep chest, straight well boned forelegs, tight well padded feet. Nice body with ribs well back, good depth and substance beautifully presented natural coat of good length, soft silky texture of ripe wheaten colour. RBB.

3 Clarke's Ch Flaxela Weaver Of Dreams JW.

Sp Beginners B (2, 1)

1 Tempesta's Kinaelan Finlandia Grace (AI). Looked good in the Special Beginners finals with the big ring moved out really well.
