I have had a longstanding interest in the breed since the early 80’s and, it was with great anticipation and delight to officiate at this lovely show set in the midst of the New Forest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Thank you for your lovely entry of 30 dogs making an entry of 31. My thanks to Matthew Gregg, who stewarded for me. I had a lovely day which was topped off by my BOB Charleton’s House of Softy Indus (Imp. Swe.) winning Terrier Group 4 Thank you for the warm welcome I received. I congratulate you again on your endeavours with temperament there was not a cross word. Type is still variable both in coat and outline Please do keep an eye on the tail set. Coat colour ranged from ripe wheat to barley. There were a couple of animals that were too short coupled and one with a roach back. Size needs to be watched. I would reiterate my comment I made when I judged at the Breed show in 2016, my overall impression was a breed that is in good and caring hands and I commend you all for your efforts. I thought the majority of dogs were well presented, clean and a credit to their owners care and attention. PD (1) 1 Dunhill-Hall’s Arkenstone Thorin King Under the Mountain Fsantasa(Imp) A 9 month old puppy who is at the rangy stage in his development. Shows promise. Head appeared slightly out of balance with length of muzzle, exceeding length from eyes to ociput, hopefully as the head develops it will balance out. Held topline on the move, up to size, front extension and rear angulation good. Would like to see him in 18-24 months time when he has time to mature. Good length of neck and lay back of shoulder, length of loin with low set hocks. Tailset OK. Needs to steady a little on the move however moved out well with good front and rear extension. LD (3) 1 Herberts Saffini. Smooth Operator at Julibidd. Dog with head of good proportions. Good eye shape and alert expression. Parallel planes with flat skull. Strong neck going into good forequarters. Good depth of brisket, short loin and body outline with correct tail set. Moved well, with good front extension. Coat could be softer. 2 Hookway’s Denzilly Golden Compass Dog of 3 years. Good head shape with parallel planes. Strong neck going into good forehand with lay back of shoulder. Deep chest with correct spring of rib. Nice bend of stifle. Did not move as well as 1st. 3 Hughlock’s Keevasdream White Knight. OD (5) It was an honour to judge this class with 3 champions present. BOB, DCC 1 Charleton’s House of Softee Indus (Imp.Swe) I was delighted to make this dog up on the day and the icing on the cake was, that he was placed Group 4 in the Terrier Group. This dog is so correct for size, coat texture and colour plus loose curls of ripened wheat. If you haven’t seen a field of ripened wheat then this dog’s coat will give you a good idea. Masculine dog. Head of correct proportion with parallel planes. Correct eye colour and shape which enhanced his expression. Good strength of jaw and correct bite. Clean neck flowing into good forehand. Had depth of chest with plenty of heart room. Correct body shape with good rear angulation and tail set. Spot on for size with everything in proportion. Moved well. 2 & RCC Satherway’s UK/Am/Can Ch Silkcroft Freeze Frame (Re Import) JW Bel.Jun. This dog has much to like about him and reminded me of when I judged the breed in the USA several years ago. Unfortunately he was a little bit too much for me, even so he deserved his placing. Strong masculine head, good earset, bite and powerful jaws. Forehand good with correct angulation, short in loin, rear angulation good. Moved well. Skillfully handled. 3 Ch Silkcroft Game Changer. VD (3,2a) 1 Dowdy’s Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (Imp USA) & years young and thoroughly enjoying his day out. Pleasing head of correct size and parallel planes. Good bite and underjaw. Strong neck going into good forehand with lay back of shoulder. Deep chest with correct spring of rib. Moved positively and with drive. PB (2) Some promising young ladies, lovely class to judge. The winner was slightly more mature and steady in mpvement. 1 BPB, BP. Satherley’s Silkcroft Dance All Over Me AI. Head of correct proportions with parallel planes. Scissor bite with strong underjaw. Correct length of neck, strong and clean. Forequarters well angulated, good depth of chest. Rear angulation good, with low set hocks. Moved well. 2 Dowdy’s Denzilly Waking The Witch. Another lovely puppy who is not quite as mature as the winner, but I am sure will trouble the best once mature. My comments about the winner equally apply to this young lady. I look forward to hopefully seeing both of these promising puppies in a year or so. JB (3) Differing types in this class. 1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Fortune And Glory. This pleasing young bitch of 13 months is out of the bitch RCC winner and is of similar type. Feminine bitch with good head shape and parallel planes. Good bite and underjaw. Strong neck going into forecorrect hand with lay back of shoulder. Deep chest with correct spring of rib. Moved positively and with purpose. Sure she will go on to higher wins. 2 Hughlock’s Keavasdream Ballerina Blue A promising 16 month old bitch who is less mature than the winner. Was playing her handler up, however once settle she showed her quality. Pleasing head with parallel planes, flat skull and correct length of foreface. Strong jaw with scissor bite. Reasonable length of neck going into good forequarters. Excellent rear angulation with correct bend of stifle, moved well when she settled to the job in hand. 3 Grant’s Dannebriel Me and My Girl (AI). Different type again, smalles, good head shape of correct proportions. Flat sk ull and correct earset. Strong neck into good forehand, length of loin good, rear angulation OK, moved well. 3 Munn’s Snowmeadow Treacle Toffee. OB A really lovely class to go over with some lovely bitches.
