SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 18
On receiving a phone call nine days before the show asking me to judge, at first I refused having
retired from judging. However with them being very desperate to get a replacement judge, I accepted.
I must say I enjoyed the day, who could not, it being a fantastic day for Wheatens ? with –
The Best of Breed being first in the Terrier Group
The Best Veteran first in Veteran Terrier Group
The Best Junior fourth in the Junior Group.
Unfortunately because Jenson had not been in the Veteran Class, he had it taken away so it would be best
in future, if your dog is a Veteran, enter in the Veteran Class.
On the day, where possible I was hard on bites and dentition, also placement of shoulders.
For a general summing up of the dogs, if you go into Archive Critiques and Results on Terrier World
website, Year 13 WELKS, my report would be very apt here, not much has changed.
Pity about the small ring, weather wise could have been outside in a larger ring.
Veteran Dog ( 1)
1.Gent, Lyntonleplas Darbello Lad SH CH . All dog, masculine head with good pigmentation, level topline,
good deep chest, well up to size, moved well.
Puppy Dog (4)
1 Moles & Williams, Celtannia Atlantic Gold. Nice looking pup with good head, correct bite, good
conformation, having a good coloured coat. Moved well.
2. McNeillis, Celtannia Atlantic Star. Well up to first, just a shade paler in coat, would not be surprised if
roles were reversed at times.
Junior Dog {5 Abs 1.)
1.Patterson, Snowmeadow Sauls Symphony to Gavleash. Good Junior dog with good head and bite. Very
good conformation with correct texture coat, he has excellent muscle. When a distraction from outside the
ring was removed, showed he could move with the best. Best Junior, 4th in Group.
2. Page-Ginnelly, Glendowan Extra Special. Irish type dog. Unfortunately did not settle in the ring. Like the
first has excellent conformation, correct bite with great teeth, well up to first in most departments. Coat is
correct but needs time to mature, could not refuse him 2nd place. When he settles down expect him to do
well in future.
Post Graduate Dog (2)
1 .Barrett, Saffini Shining Star. Well balanced dog, nice head, correct bite, flat skull, nice eyes, Correct coat
but with a bit of black, at 2 years should clear soon. Not quite the body of some, unfortunately tail curves
over the back.
2. Boast, Kaliclan long may you run. Similar to first, coat a bit paler, slightly better shoulders. Again tail
curves over back.
Limit dog (3)
1.Lui, Elbanahalls Aye Right. Male looking dog with good head. Good pigmentation, strong body with deep
chest, level topline, good front rear not as strong. Well up to size Res. CC
2. Williams Flaxela Living Legend at Gwendonydd. Another strong looking dog, again good head, strong
front, level topline. If anything shorter coupled than first. Coat OK.
Open Dog (14. Abs 2)
1.Tilley, Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak SH CM. Liked this dog minute I saw him. More down to correct
size, nice head with correct bite, again correct conformation with good coloured soft coat. Tail set right,
moved well. Dog CC.
2. Dowdy Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (IMP) Again another good dog, similar to first in
conformation, just felt he looked a shade longer in body. Moved and showed well.
Veteran Bitch (4)
1 Ford, Kanjuley Scarlet and Gold. Coat nice texture and colour. Good head with great teeth and
pigmentation, nice neck, good body with deep chest, good front, moved well.
2.Williams, Ch Brynhir Rochelle Lil Rock.10 year old with nice head, a little straight in shoulder, angulation
not quite there. Nice coat. Moved well.
Puppy Bitch (4)
1.Francis, Sawheaten Kiss from a Rose. Nice looking pup, feminine head with correct bite. Good shoulders
with level topline. Good coloured soft coat, moved well , interesting to see how she goes on in the future.
2. Satherley, Silkcroft Point and Shoot. A bit more mature than first, again nice head with correct bite. Fair
angulation, nice and square, good coat. Unfortunately did not settle in the ring.
Junior Bitch (7 Abs.1)
1.MacGregor Kirktonhill What Its Not. Nice bitch with feminine head, correct bite with good conformation.
Correct tail set, good soft coat, moved well.
2 Howell, Abiqua Wild Pannisima. Overall a bit like the first, not quite the teeth of first and did not move as
well.
Post Graduate Bitch (6)
1 Atyeo, Kanjuley Scarlet Rose Irish type, good head with correct bite and large teeth. Good pigmentation,
eye, good body with deep chest and good bone, level topline, nice coat, moved well.
2.Herbert, Julibidd Maybe Im Amazed. Feminine looking bitch with nice head, good pigmentation, nice
front and rear. Moved well.
Limit bitch (6 Abs.1)
1 .Jones Saffini Sugar Pie Honey Bunch .Nice sized bitch with nice feminine head., correct bite, good neck
with correct conformation, level topline, good coloured coat, moved well. Res CC
2. Gent and Lee Flaxela My secret Love at Sumirick. Another nice bitch similar to first but a shade larger.
Open Bitch (13 Abs.3)
1.Clarke, Ch. Flaxela Weaver of Dreams JW.SH.CM Today’s star of the show, A bitch that strode round the
ring with confidence. Good feminine head with correct bite and strong teeth. Good pigmentation,
excellent conformation with level topline. Correct coat with waves but for me, a shade too much trimming.
However no way could I not give her the CC and BoB.
2.Moran, Abiqua Wild she’s by Design. A smaller solid bitch again up to first in most quarters. Coat nice and
soft but a shade lighter in colour. Moved well in the ring like the first, shown and handled well.
