SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE DARLINGTON 22

Thank you to everyone who travelled to Ripon. We were blessed with sunshine even though it was a little on the chilly side first thing. An entry full of quality dogs, several of whom could have taken top honours. I was very impressed with coats and movement overall and loved seeing small, neat ears back in the breed. We have some lovely youngsters coming through who will no doubt make their mark in the future. I was super pleased with my 2 x CC winners who completely complimented one another in the challenge for BOB.

VD (1)

1. Leverton’s Carkbark Good Luck Charm ShCM. 8-year-old male, nice outline, soft coat. Liked his head balance and pigmentation. Moved true fore and aft. He was absent for the Best Veteran challenge.

PD no entries

JD (3)

1. Clarke’s Flaxela Illuminati (ai). 11 months. Super young man showing maturity for his age and exhibiting a real terrier outlook. Well balanced throughout, no exaggerations. Lovely head with correct proportions. Soft, silky coat. Must certainly have a bright future. Moved with determination round the ring. I can see he can be a bit of a handful for his experienced handler but nonetheless didn’t out a foot wrong and thoroughly deserved the RCC today. He was very distracted by his sibling in the challenge for BP but settled enough to give me a reminder of his class performance and more purposeful rear action enabling him to steal BPIB.

2. Herbert’s Saffini Smooth Operator at Juliebidd. Another youngster showing a lot of promise. Super masculine head with dark pigment. Nice neck and angles. Moving true. Lost out today on a little coat maturity but that will come with age.

3. Thackray’s Keridown Status Confirmed (naf).

PGD (1)

1. Rogers Kizzahla Naughty Boy. Strong head with correct features. Stood four square. Well balanced with a decent amount of bone. Liked his coat, correct texture and wave. Moved out well.

LD (1)

1. Satherley’s Silkcroft Game Changer. 2-year-old male, superbly presented and handled who wowed me when he entered the ring. Exuded ring presence and attitude. Balanced throughout, substantial bone and substance. Strong head with correct pigment. Tail on top, super soft, silky coat. Lovely neck/shoulders. Powerfully made rear allowing good rear extension enabling him to move with drive and purpose around the ring, exhibiting the long low strides the standard calls for. I must also add I think he has the most amazing bottom! A real showman so very pleased to be able to award him his 2nd CC in very strong competition. My notes say his third CC cannot be far away but I hear that he has since gained his title. I could take him home.

OD (7)

A super class of mature males. Close decision between 1 and 2.

1. Satherley’s UK/am/Can/Ch Silkcroft Freeze Frame (re import) JW. Superbly presented. A dog I have admired since he was a baby, every inch the multi champion that he is. Classy profile, well balanced all round, nicely muscled. Masculine head with correct features. Lovely coat/featherings. Moved out well to take this very strong class but I felt he just lacked a little of that additional sparkle in the challenge keeping him out of the top honours today

2. Clarke’s Ch Flaxela Perfect Storm (ai). A well-known winner and worthy Ch who always shows his socks off. Older brother to my RCC winner. Superbly handled, showing alert and on his toes. Lots to like. Strong head, good pigment and neat ears. Square outlook and nice angles. Super topline with tail bang on. Super soft coat, correct in colour. Strode out well, just lacking a little body at the moment.

3. Satherley’s Silkcroft Shake It Off JW.

VB (2)

1. Herbert’s Calvenace She’s The One at Juliebidd. 9 years. Smart young lady, good for size and shape. Mature good coloured coat falling in loose waves. Well balanced with no exaggerations. Showing and moving like a trooper. BVIB.

2. Lui’s Thistlebe Them There Eyes at Eblanahalls ShCM Shcex Vw. Close up but just preferred the compactness of 1. Well balanced head, level topline and strong rear. Correct coat both in colour and texture, a little more stylised than my winner.

PB (4, 1 abs)

Lovely class of babies.

1. Howes Flaxela Flirtini at Daisymaes (ai). Litter sister to my DRCC. Pretty young lady with a lot of personality and oozing confidence. Feminine head, good pigment all round. Balanced throughout. Nice size and substance. Mature coat for a youngster. Moved out well to take the class. Competently handled and presented. She must have a bright future.

2. Thoburn’s Northridge Hold Your Horses. Lost out to 1 on age/maturity but she really is a sweet young lady and should have a promising future. Feminine with pretty head and good pigment. Nicely balanced, moving out well fore and aft. Lovely coat, correct in colour and texture. Everything a puppy should be at this age.

3. Tilley’s Brynhir Born To Boogie at Starzak.

JB (2)

Tough decision between these young ladies. Both slightly different in outlook but both girls exude quality. I am certain they will change places many times and they must both have a very promising future.

1. Satherley’s Silkcroft Wildest Dreams JW. Super in profile and well-balanced front and rear, super topline and tail. Pretty head with dark pigment. Soft coat of a lovely colour, moved out well when settled.

2. Barrett’s Saffini The Sweetest Taboo. A real showgirl and I can see many of her sires’ good qualities. Much to like, compact and presenting four-square. Another pretty head with dark pigment. Short-coupled and lovely rear angles. Sporting a mature coat for her age. Just preferred the rear extension of my winner today.

PGB (3)

1. Macgregor’s Kirktonhill A Touch of Snow. A few months out of Junior and maturing nicely. Feminine through and through. Everything in proportion from the tip of her nose to her tailset. Coat still at that lighter stage and beautifully soft, enhances her dark pigmentation. Moved out well to edge the class win.

2. Lui’s Eblanahalls Gold Limerence JW. Similar to 1 in body, just a tad larger in frame. Stood like a trooper. Nice length of neck and sound quarters. Moved with purpose. Coat still maturing, she has the colour but furnishings still need to come which will complete the picture.

3. Coupar’s Kirktonhill Snow Crystal.

LB (3)

A nice group of young ladies, all slightly different in type and at differing stages of maturity.

1. Satherley’s Silkcroft Place Your Bets. Pretty young lady. lovely for size and shape. Well balanced throughout. Level topline and tail bang on. Slightly lighter in coat, exhibiting soft and silky waves, her coat type benefitting from a more natural presentation. Moved out well to edge this class. Noted from the catalogue that she is out of my Crufts BOB winner .. I can certainly see the resemblance.

2. Wright’s Abbeymead Capelli D’Angelo. Unlucky to meet 1 today. Smartly presented young lady sporting a lovely soft, good coloured, mature coat. Slightly larger in frame than my winner but presented a balanced profile. Pretty head & furnishings, good pigment and great bite. Solidly made with plenty of muscle tone, she clearly works out! Slightly unsettled on the move, okay in profile but not so positive as my winner fore and aft, seemed a little distracted.

3. Thoburn’s Northridge Galway Girl.

OB (3)

A trio of nice young ladies.

1. Witheyman & Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Born This Way JW. My RCC from puppy at Driffield in 2019, I said she would have a bright future as she matured and she has. Such a showgirl, showed to perfection by her handler. Presented in tip top condition and super smart from every angle. Feminine head, good pigment all round. Lovely lay of shoulder, firm rear. Well bodied. Sound as pound on the move. Soft, mature coat. Pleased to award her the CC, coat maturity edged in her favour in the challenge for BOB.

2. Taylor’s Silverluka Superstition at Raisingsands. Lots to like about this young lady but not happy today which presented itself as a lack of confidence on the move. Smart in profile and balanced throughout, pretty head and lovely coat. Not exaggerated in any way. I gather that she sits on 2 x CC’s, I hope her owners persevere and can get her confidence back to gain that elusive 3rd CC.

3. Lui’s Eblanahalls Honeytrap.
