SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE DRIFFIELD 17
Always a delight to judge ones own breed. Thank you to the Committee for their invite and to the exhibitors who braved the rather challenging conditions. Exhibits were presented in a clean and tidy condition. A few were lacking muscle tone and some bitches were carrying a few excess pounds. It was a shame not to see more native type in the ring.

Pattersons' Snowmeadow Sauls Symphony to Gavleash
2 Beevers' Zaraslake Benny Bianco
Two promising babies full of Wheaten life! A little unsettled with the distractions ringside so both typically quite loose at this stage so hard to assess movement fully. Both had nice overall proportions and good colour. Typical Wheaten expressions. Good toplines, tail and ear sets. Today just preferred the overall coat and balance of 1 but could change places another day.

Beevers' Zaraslake Benny Bianco
This lad was a bit more settled on his second run round the ring and as a result moved steadier with good cadence to his stride. Well done, keep practising!

1 Withingtons' Fantasa Blonde Rufus
Super boy, so incredibly mature for his age. So well proportioned and balanced. Good coat for his age, colour quite dark at present. Plenty of neck into sweeping shoulders. Super front. Good rib and strong loin with well muscled hindquarters. Loved his 'look at me' expression. For preference would prefer a little less angulation in the rear and less density to the coat. Great reach, drive and fluidity on the move, his quality shone through. Amazed to hear this was his fourth and crowning CC at 13 months old making Breed history. Congratulations. CC
2 Johnsons' Garsayno Gold Kipling
Such a nice boy with so much to like. Just a shame to meet 1 today in such hot form. This lad did nothing wrong. Correct for size, compact, nice coat and colour. Enough neck into good layback. Good top line and another good mover. His day will come.

1 Tilley's Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak Sh Cm
Nice sized male. Good head proportions, nice length of neck. Shoulders ok. Excellent coat, deep colouring which I hope lightens a bit. Good hind angulation. Moved ok, straight going away but slightly choppy in front on the return.
2 Lui's Eblanahalls Aye Right
Nice enough type if a little up on height, with correct native coat. Good bite, head proportions and eye. Ok top line and tail set. Good angles in front and rear. Little long in the loin and leg. Would prefer a little more bend in the stifle. He seemed a bit unsettled today and as a result this affected his movement coming and going. However he had good reach in profile.

1 Barrett's Saffini Shining Star
Up to size male but with nice proportions. Excellent eye and pigment. Good mouth. Plenty there in body. Coat good for texture and wave if a little dark in colour. A little bit of a handful but moved with reach and drive when settled.
2 Satherley & Johnstone's Cameron Fighting Spirit for Silkcroft (Imp)
14 month old male of correct size with a promising coat. Good overall balance and angles without exaggeration. Not quite the body of 1 at present but will come with age. Moved ok.

1 Dunhill Halls' Mothers Finest Jon Snow at Fantasa (Imp)
Lovely sized male with a good coat and colour. Nice expression, eye and pigment. Good head and body proportions giving pleasing overall balance. Nice length of neck into good layback, body and loin. Holds topline and tailset well. Moves with reach and drive. A little close behind moving away today. Just pipped by his son, a close decision. RCC.

1 Satherley & Smith's Am Ch Haldane Chasin' Tail (Imp USA)
Correct sized male. Nice overall balance and angles. Good head proportions. Lovely length of neck into well laid shoulders. Would like a bit more of him in body. Moved really well with great reach and drive which won him the class. Considered him in the challenge but felt he was a bit 'out of coat' today, texture was a bit crispy.
2 Revis' Tiareko Niflheim's Wizard
Up to size male but presents a balanced outline with good angles. Love his strong, masculine head. Good in body and strong loin. Moved well in profile with long low strides and drive but not so good coming and going. Coat ok with correct colouring. Close decision with 1.
3 Meister & Brooks' Ch Silkcroft Crests of Waves
MPB (2/2)
1 Watkins & Watkins' Zaraslake Tinie Tempah
Lovely happy, outgoing baby, full of enthusiasm and Wheaten humour. Nice balance to her proportions. Enough neck into good shoulders. Compact body. Promising coat and colour. Moved well with good reach and drive in profile which won her the class. I am sure she will have a bright future. BP.
2 Lawrence's Keevasdream Red Velvet
Little Irish girl with correct native coat. Another with nice proportions and good angles. A little unsettled on the move.
JB (1/1)
Satherley, Meister & Brooks' Silkcroft Some Magic Rose
Nice youngster. Just a little unsettled on the move today and a little loose coming and going and close behind, but good reach and drive on profile. Good head and bite. Nice length to neck into well laid shoulders. Good topline. Coat rather thick and woolly in texture but hope this will improve in time as only young.
YB (2/2)
1 Atyeo's Kanjuley Scarlet Rose
Native type with correct coat for age. Lovely size, feminine but with Terrier head and expression. Good eye and colour. Enough neck. Plenty of body, rib and strong loin. Moved ok.
2 Roberts' Janeyjimjams Jubilee Grace
Slightly larger girl. Nice expression. Enough neck, good topline and tail set. Well balanced, strong hindquarters and plenty behind the tail. Just lacking in body at present but this will come. Coat not at its best at present.

1 Gullick's Jaeva Just Peachy
Liked this girl for her make and shape. Well balanced and compact outline. Feminine. Lovely head, dark eye and pigment. Enough neck. Good topline. Steady, honest mover fore and aft and good reach and drive. Nice enough coat and colour but just seemed a little crispy in texture. Sympathetically handled.
2 Mann's Janeyjimjams Jubilee Line
This girl did not appear to be enjoying the wet conditions (and who can blame her!), making her handler work very hard. Good colour to coat but texture let her down. Good in head, eye and pigment. Enough neck. Not quite as compact in body as 1 but good tailset. Bit close behind on the move.
LB (7/4)
Three very nice bitches who could swop places another day.
1
Gale's Flaxela Drop Dead Gorgeous JW
Correctly sized girl with compact feminine outline. Pleasing head and pigment. Enough neck and body. Super shoulders. Well ribbed. Liked her for her balanced and moderate angulation. Moved out well, fluidly, holding topline. One of the best coats of the day, correct texture and open wave. CC
2 Barrett's Saffini Sugar and Spice
Slightly larger bitch to 1 but another with pleasing outline, compact and good balance. Strength to head without coarseness. Nice length to neck into good shoulders. Good in rib and strong loin. Lovely wavy and well coloured coat but just slightly crispy in comparison to 1. Moved well when settled with good reach and drive.
3 Silkcroft Auroras Encore JW
OB (6/1)
1 Ford's Kanjuley Scarlet and Gold
This girl may not be as glamorous to the eye as others but on going over her I found plenty of honest Terrier under the coat. Great expression, I would prefer a slightly stronger head. Another with good moderate overall balance, good angulation without exaggeration. Nice length of neck to well laid shoulders. Good rib and loin, bang on tailset. Square outline, compact enough. Slightly high in hind end. However she is 8. Won on her attributes of plenty of bone, body and hindquarters with good muscle to do the job intended. Nice coat and colour. Moved well, just lacking animation in the challenge. RCC
2 Satherley's Silkcroft Sky Full of Stars Sh CM, IrJCh
Another nice girl presenting a pleasing and compact outline with good angles and balance. Good expression. Liked her neck, shoulders, topline and tailset. Ok in rib and loin. Good, active mover. Nice coat with good clear colour. Not quite the body of 1.
