Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
My thanks to all the exhibitors, Open Bitch was a joy to behold. Overall the quality of the bitches was better than the dogs which bodes well for the breed. I was pleased to note the improvement in mouths, but lest complacency moves in please be aware that in general shoulders are not the breed’s strong-point, loose front movement is too common and hind movement leaves much to be desired. Is lack of exercise the problem as well developed hindquarters were in the minority? Good movement is not flash and dash, each exhibit should be moved at the pace which shows the movement at its best, the best of breed winner, shown on a loose lead has much to inform aspiring handlers.

Puppy Dog 1

1. Mr & Mrs Ward’s Saffini For You To Love, 9 month well- made young man, rather immature needs time to tighten. Good coat and colour. Showed well.

Junior Dog 2

1. Ms & Dr Meister & Brooks’ Silkcroft Crests of Waves, upstanding dog with quality long head, good expression. Coat pale and not the silkiest. Moved and showed well.

2. Catlow’s Flaxela Too Fast For Love at Justjingo, 12month dog, again up to size, lovely coat and colour. Well-made but still loose in front and not fully co-operative with handler.

Post Graduate Dog 4 (1abs)

1. Mrs & Mr Revis’ Tiareko Niflheim’s Wizard, up to size pale dog. Long head, good expression. Layback of shoulder clinched the deal in his favour.

2. Mrs & Mr Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard, compact quality dog with lovely coat and colour. Loose in front and not fluent on the move today.#

3. Meister & Brooks’ Silkcroft Crests of Waves

Limit Dog 5 (1abs)

1. Mrs House’s Glendowan Tarquol, pale dog of lovely size, sound construction including shoulders. Good textured coat. Moved soundly. Not in anyway glamourous but sound construction and movement earned his Res CC.

2. Mr & Mrs Howes’ Daisymaes Enforcer, quality dog, big enough, good proportions, shoulders could be better as could his coat texture.

3. Mrs & Mr Mapson’s Abiqua Wild Jack of Hearts

Open Dog 5 (1 abs)

1. Mr & Mrs Satherley’s Int/Swe/It Ch Modny Style Loverboy at Seamrog (imp Rus) Impressive quality dog, well made throughout with best shoulders in the class. Correct silky coat of good colour. Moved well and showed beautifully. CC

3. Mrs & Mr Satherley & Smith’s Am/Amg Ch Haldane Double Down (Imp USA)

Puppy Bitch 5

1. Mrs & Mr Barrett’s Saffini Sugar and Spice, quality feminine young lady, lovely size, coat and colour. Sound construction with lovely reach of neck onto good shoulders. Good front, well developed hindquarters. Moved freely with reach and drive on loose lead in self carriage. Showmanship well in advance of her youth, a credit to her handler. CC & BOB
