SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE MANCHESTER 24

After having to call off being hospitalised from my first appointment in this breed 18 months ago, it was a pleasure (and relief) to finally undertake it on this occasion. There were a number of challenging and close decisions and placing could easily change on another day. Mouths were pretty good, with any faults being minor, eyes were invariably dark hazel but ear carriage could have been a little better on some exhibits. Movement overall was reasonable but it did sway some decisions.

PD (3)

1 Lines-Barrett and Barret’s Abiqua Wild in My Blue Jeans. Promising 8mth old, good bite dark eye pleasing head, good front, balanced of standard size, well angulated, moved well. BPD and BP.

2 Ammel-Azizpour’s Crofftysofty Hey Jude. Another of a similar type, 9mth old, has many of same attributes but felt winner held its topline a little better on the move.

3 Wynter and Satherley’s Lakkas Yankee Sweet Silkcroft (Imp Swe).

JD (2)

1 Dunhiill-Hall’s Arkenstone Thorin King Under the Mountain Fantasa (Imp). At 13mth old not long out of puppy but developing nicely, good bite and dark eye good ear carriage, coat still developing, Well made structurally fore and aft, ample rib, moved well and scored in maturity over the puppy class winner.

2 Aquiba Wild in my Blue Jeans.

LD (1)

1 Hookway’s Denzilly Golden Compass. Decent 4yo dog, correct bite dark eye, good ear carriage, sound fore and aft, ample bone and substance. Moved well. Stood alone.

OD (4)

1 Clarke’s Ch Flaxela Perfect Storm (AI). Top class dog put down in first class condition, nice head and expression, good bite, dark eye, nice ears, well constructed all round, good front, ample rib, good rear end and angulation, lovely profile, moved well. RDCC.

2 Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Game Changer. Another very nice specimen but smaller type than winner, has all the basic attributes, sound all round, I felt the winner just scored in coat.

3 Clarke’s Flaxela Illuminati (AI) JW.

VD (2,1)

1 Dowdy’s Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (Imp USA). Has just moved into Veteran but no signs of the years catching up. Top class example of the breed, Nice head, black nose, dark eye, good bite, nice ear carriage, good neck merging into well placed shoulders, nice front, tidy feet, ample rib, good topline, well made rear end, well carried tail, in good condition, moved well with ease A ‘happy-chappy’ on the day. DCC and BOB.

SBD (1)

1 Crofftysofty Hey Jude.

PB (6,1)

1 Mapson’s Abiqua Wild Burlesque. Promising 8mo little bitch. Has all the basic attributes going forward, good bite, dark eye, black nose, decent front and rear end, moved well.

2 Dowdy’s Denzilly Waking the Witch. 11mth old developing nicely, has many of the same strengths as winner but just felt the winner was a little bit better in rear quarters and movement.

3 Rogers Kizzahia Strange Sun Witch.

JB (2)

1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Fortune and Glory JW. 17mth old bitch developing nicely, good head and expression, good bite, dark eye, well made all round, ample rib, well proportioned, moved well.

2 Lui’s Eblanhalls Kiss Curl JW. 14mo with much to like about her, has most of the basic attributes, but a little longer cast than winner which also scored in movement.

PGB (5)

1 Bradford, Hobson and Mapson’s Azydeco Abiqua Dernier Paradis (Imp USA) Nice standard size and well made all round, decent head, dark eye, good front, ample rib, rear angulation OK, moved well.

2 Evans and Hammond’s Calvenace Ruby Tuesday. Good bite, dark eye, straight front, ample rib, quarters OK, had better tail carriage than winner but did not move as well.

3 Wassall’s Clanhanna a Kind of Magic for Emalot (AI)

LB (4)

1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Place Your Bets. Very well made all round, correct bite, dark eye, good ear carriage, sound fore and aft, ample coat, moved well and with ease.

2 Lui’s Eblanhalls Gold Limerence JW. Decent girl all ro9und with mosr of the desired attributes such as good bite, dark eye, moved well in front but not as well as winner behind.

3 Tilley’s Brynhir Born to Boogie at Starzak JW.

OB (8,1)

1 Witheyman and Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Born This Way JW. Lovely well balanced top class bitch, lovely profile, nice head dark eye, good bite, good ears, nice front, level topline, well made quarter with good angulation, moved well, I understand she has had a rest from the show ring for some months and she certainly came back with a bang. BCC.

2 Paton’s Ch Denzilly Raspberry Beret. Another lovely quality bitch at her peak and similar to winner in many respects and with all the desired attributes, not much to choose between her and winner which I felt just had the edge on the day and held off strong challenges from those placed behind her. RBCC.

3 Barrett’s Safini the Sweetest Taboo.

VB (2)

1 Lui’s Thistlebe Them There Eyes at Eblanhalls ShCM Sh CEx VW. Now over 10yo but still strutting her stuff in the ring and in excellent condition for her age, well made all round, good bite, dark eye, good ear carriage, moved well.

2 Atyeo’s Kanjuley Scarlett Rose. Overall another nice lass but a bit younger at turning 8yo, well made fore and aft, moved OK.
