SOFT COATED WHEATEN MIDLAND COUNTIES 16 Judge(s): LIZ CARTLEDGE DCC CH JANEYJIMJAMS JENSON JW SHCM (MR & MRS M FALLON) Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers Never a dull moment when you judge this breed as they are always high spirited & game for anything. They make a great family dog of medium size, good with children if the children are good with them! Obviously you have to know a bit about coat care to have your wheaten look tidy, a bit more complicated than having a Whippet or other smooth coated breed but with regular grooming & common sense it is do-able. In the long time I have judged Wheatens they have changed quite a bit. Handling & presentation have vastly improved. Temperaments were always good as the breed has a naturally happy & positive attitude. Some were rather up to size for me. MPD (1) 1 BP, Dowdy’s Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly, 8 months, happy Irishman who originates from the States, showed himself off very well. Good head & expression, well carried ears, well proportioned with firm topline, good bone, legs & feet, moved with style & confidence, promising. PD (1) 1 Williams’ Flaxela Living Legend of Gwendonydd, 1 year old today, up to size so I hope he has done his growing early, attractive head, good mouth, well proportioned, used his neck well, firm body. Handler had him doing a lot of twirling about before he got into his stride on the move, showed well, well presented coat. JD (3,1a) 1 Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak, yearling in good form, excellent coat & condition, quality head, good neck & shoulders, compact body, low set hocks, moved well, well presented & handled; 2 Watkins’ Zaraslake Lucky Seven, 13 months, showed with focus & was at one with his handler at all times, pleasing head, keen expression, good neckline, strong body. Moved well behind, needs to strengthen in front movement. PGD (3,1) 1 McFerran’s Kirktonhill Cara Dilis, 18 months, well behaved young man, compact body, well proportioned, keen, alert showman, well handled, good coat. Hind action could project a bit more drive; 2 Leverton’s Carkbark Good Luck Charm, 2½ years, real ‘asbo’ today & giving his handler a hard time, very short attention span & not concentrating on what he was supposed to do! Masculine head, good bone & substance, clean coat, strong body. Slightly low set tail & did not settle to move with any coordination. LD (4,1) 1 Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard, 2½ years, good topline & quarters, pleasing head & expression, made a good account of himself both standing & moving but could be firmer in front, good coat; 2 Moles & Williams’ Celtannia Extra Suave, 21 months, up to size for me, easy sidegait, very fit, big body & rib, well muscled, good coat, sympathetically handled, litter brother to RBCC; 3 Catlow’s Flaxela Too Fast For Love at Justjingo. OD (8) Good class. 1 CC & BOB, Fallon’s Ch Janeyjimjams Jenson, 6 years, real eyecatcher, great outline & proportions, well set & carried tail, lovely head & expression, firm body & topline, strong quarters, very good coat & presentation, low set hocks, easy mover, happy showman, good ring presence; 2 Howes’ Ch Daisymaes Enforcer, 3½ years, lively & focused showman, wagging his tail constantly, keen intelligent expression, good neckline & body, excellent coat & condition, held his topline on the move, well muscled. Like winner has quality & type. RCC in good company; 3 Boast’s Denzilly Tickle Me Elmo. MPB (1) 1 Atyeo’s Kanjuley Scarlet Rose, 8 months, coat changing colour which made her look rather stripy. Feminine head, dark eyes, lean body, moved & showed OK. Standing a bit flat on her feet. PB (3) 1 BPB, Howes’ Flaxela New Vision at Daisymaes, litter sister to PD winner, sired by RCC dog, quite a big girl but she is all Wheaten, at one with her handler on the move, totally comfortable in her own skin. Good outline, body & proportions, keen expression, showed well; 2 Clarke’s Flaxela Weaver Of Dreams, another from the same litter, pretty bitch, well presented, attractive head & expression, good legs & feet, well bodied, moved & showed steadily, well set tail; 3 Gale’s Flaxela Drop Dead Gorgeous, another litter mate. JB (3) 1 F Waver Of Dreams; 2 Grant’s Dannebriel Gladly Godetia, 15 months, quality head, firm body & topline, showed well, well fitting coat, tail carried correctly. Not going with quite the style of 1; 3 Fallon’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Jewel for Justjenson. PGB (9,2) 1 RCC, Moles & Williams’ Celtannia Extra Chic, easy winner here, I thought, light on her feet going round, good outline & proportions, excellent coat, held topline on the move, compact body of good depth, typical head, expressive eyes, very well handled. Close decision in the challenge between her & LB winner; 2 Rogers’ Kizzahla Kiss And Tell, 21 months, good honest bitch with all the essentials, good bone & feet, excellent body, sensible showgirl, keen alert expression, good coat. Daughter of 2nd in OB; 3 Satherley’s Silkcroft Auroras Encore. LB (9) 1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Sky Full Of Stars, 2½ years, very nice looking bitch who responded well to her handler, good head & expression, excellent neckline, well placed shoulders, good topline & tailset, easy mover, well handled, showed well, daughter of BCC winner; 2 Barrett’s Saffini Sugar And Spice, 2 years, excellent type & quality, pleasing head, good bone & body, on her toes, clean well presented coat, low set hocks, happy showgirl. Not much between 1 & 2; 3 Shrive’s Emalot Santa Maria. OB (12,2) Like LB this was a strong class numerically & quality-wise. 1 CC, Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Colour Of Magic, proper show off this, full of her own importance, impressive silhouette, definitely the one who caught my eye at first glance, quality head, slightly arched neck, firm body & topline, well muscled quarters which she used on the move, good coat & presentation, handled to perfection; 2 Rogers’ Ch Kizzahla Dreamsicle, 6 years, good head, big black nose, excellent bone, firm body, happy cooperative showgirl, well let down hocks, good coat, another who moved well. Lost a little sparkle when competing for the RCC; 3 Tilley’s Starzak Solid Gold Ez Action. LIZ CARTLEDGE
