SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 12
I am judging the next weekend in Norway and hope to have good quality dogs there. I have judged twice in the last two years in Sweden and have to say I am very impressed with the dogs there and movement there is a lot better. The last time I was in the UK and judging was three years ago and I have to say I was impressed generally with the dogs this time. I would like to thank the exhibitors at this time with high costs for giving me a super and high numbers and high quality entries and for being as usual polite and quick to get into the ring, unlike some countries.
I would also like to thank the committee of National Terrier to the invite to this prestigious and well run and quality terrier show, one show I have waited to judge, now I wait for Crufts.
I will also check my last report from when I judged and make comments against then. I don’t need to check my reports for over the years and the main thing that needs to improve and is still lacking generally is the movement in the breeds, some mouths could be better and some not having the required large teeth. On the plus point the dogs was much better presented and trimmed some over trimmed which most will be surprised to hear from me and a few trimmed to disadvantage behind and should maybe look to others for advice.

Dogs - Minor Puppy (1)
1st FRONTLINE MR FEELGOOD (MS L & MS A MATTI & OMITOGUN) Good for size coat developing well and should finish good well-presented and handled and show with the correct temperament and was happy. Excellent for bone dark eye good neck super short body and well set and used tail good head nice and well used ears. Movement could be better with more reach and drive but might come with good exercise and luck, best male puppy and should do well in the future. He looks more like is sire which for me is a good thing best of luck in the future with him. In the challenge for best puppy which I thought he might win on maturity he decided he was not going to put the effort in or try to move well, to be expected in pups.
Dogs - Puppy (1)
1st STANDORIC HERAKLES CON GAVLEASH (MR & MRS G & C PATTERSON) Dog certainly need a bit more training he was not super bad but training will assist to go further. Good for size and coat and movement needs time to improve which as a pup he has. Nice head and eye, could have a better tail set, BUT on this point maybe with him but certainly with others later with the way the handler holds the tail, a little higher up, this on some dogs give the impression of a low tail set, remember to hold it at the base and also slightly higher up, or not hold at all. I don’t have a problem either way. But if you’re going to hold it need to he held correctly and to advantage.
Dogs - Junior (1)
1st DAISYMAES DESMOND DECKER (MR S & MRS B HOWES) Just over one year male, good for size and bone, good length and width of head nice eye and ears, coat developing well and could move a bit better.
Dogs - Novice (1)
1st ZARASLAKE SIROCCO (MRS L MAPSON) 19 months male who could be more mature, nice head and eye, good neck, coat still needs more time to develop, moved close behind but was a happy dog with the correct breed and show temperament could be trimmed better behind.
Dogs - Graduate (1)
1st SAFFINI TEENAGE SENSATION (JC & PC MALEARY) 22 months male of good size and excellent bone, pleasing head, nice eye and good expression, could carry a little bit more weight to advantage. And more spring of rib, coat ok moved close behind.
Dogs - Post Graduate (2) abs 1
1st SAFFINI TEENAGE DREAMS (MRS K J PURSER) 22 months male excellent for size and condition pleasing head, dark eyes good ears and good expression, very good neck super top line and tail set, I really liked this dog but the handler not always doing the best for him and was restricting him movement, rear movement could be a little better.

1st SEAMROG BEST OF ME FOR KERIDOWN Liked this dog as he walked into the ring and continued to like all the way to BOB, 22 months old male shown in full bloom and condition, loved his real terrier and show temperament, handler can sometimes be a little hard on him which I did not like, but I was pleased to see it did not affect the dog and he continue to give his all. One of the best movers of the day and when I later saw his breeding I would see, why he was from Sweden and for me this showed. Well-presented and well handled in excellent condition. Nice coat trimmed to advantage and to make him look better, good for size yes I will agree maybe bigger than I like but and this is the important fact he was in proportion to his size not overdone heavy or light in body. Today winning his first CC and BOB best of luck with the other CC’s certainly deserve to become a Champion
2nd STARZAK THE GROOVER 4 years old male good for size and bone good type of head nice ears and eyes, nice neck good top line and tail set moved ok

1st AM CH STARLIGHT MASTER OF THE GAME [ATC AM00252USA] ( MRS A LEIGH & DIPMARS) 3.5 year male who I certainly noticed when he came into the ring well-presented and handled as you would expect from this well know and famous handler. Presented and trimmed to advantage and perfection but shown slightly under weight which spoiled his overall balance. On the top size but still in proportion long head with excellent strength and length, moved well super neck excellent top line and tail set should get made to a champion here but today got the RCC
2nd SNOWMEADOW NUMINOUS NIILO SHCM (MRS B & MR G LAWRENCE) 5 years male good for size super bone dark eye nice head and well used ears good expression, nice neck, good top line and tail set moved ok

1st CAMERON BECAUSE NAF ( MRS L & MISS D WITHEYMAN) Loved this bitch when she came into the ring and was certainly not disappoint when I went over her, just 6 months and three days and a super prospect for the future for the breed and owner, excellent for colour at present and coat developing well excellent for size and bone, head developing well with good length and width but with strength but still was ultra-feminine in head and type, super top line and tail set for age excellent dark eye and good ears and expression. I thought she would lack maturity against the older male pup but no, still pulled out all the stops, came into the ring showing more maturity than her I would say years but is really months, showed her socks off moved well and demanded and got the best puppy in breed award. I would be very surprised if she does not become a champion. Also found out later she is an import from Sweden and from a kennel who’s dog I seem to like and put up in Sweden.
2nd LOOFAHSA HIP HOP (MR A BROOKS) 7 months female very nice type and looking good coat developing well and should come right, nice head dark eyes good ears and nice expression nice prospect for the future unlucky to come against above today

1st BELLEEEFEE HELLEBORINE OF JUSTJINGO (MR J H CATLOW) 10 months old top size owner and dog needs some more training happy outgoing bitch with correct breed and show temperament, dog needs more time to learn and develop.
Bitches Junior (7) abs 1
1st SWEETIWEETI TOFFEE POPPET (MS L TAYLOR) 13 months old bitch excellent for size and looks like a female, nice head ears and dark eyes good expression nice neck good top line and tail set movement could be a little better, even after over 25 years of judging it always surprises me and brings a smile to my face when you give someone a first and they say you mean me. Made my day keep up the good work and watch and learn from others and pick up the good and the bad points and learn and use what is good for you
2nd DAISYMAES DORIS DAY WITH NORTHRIDGE (MR A D & MRS L THOBURN) Sister to my junior male winner, nice type, pleasing head well behaved and good temperament. Nice head good neck nice top line and tail set.
Bitches - Novice (1)
1st GARSAYNO GOLD GEMMA (MRS J C & MR B P REVIS) 18 months too big for me but in proportion but still big, excellent bone, could have more character and terrier spirit for me, gone are the days when I handled and the wheaten wanted to eat me ( Oh Happy days) but this youngster needed a bit more personality, coat developing well

1st STEEFSGRACE DUTCH KISS BY DASCOL ( MRS L & MISS D WITHEYMAN)
2 years old female correct for size and bone very well handled and presented, moved ok for me, well developed head, nice ears and eyes, good expression. Nice neck good top line and tail set.
2nd KANJULEY SCARLET AND GOLD ( MRS G A FORD) 2 years bitch very nice shape could have a little bit more weight to advantage, happy well behaved and good correct temperament maturing slowing but has time to finish

1st KELLYNACK VIVA LA PASSIONE FOR AVARD (MRS C & MR N BRISTOW) Super class and good for the breed this 4 years old bitch caught my eye when she came in and pleased me when I went over her, for me a little over weight but did not affect her movement which was ok, one point when a judge mentions a point like, she is overweight, best not to disagree with the judge even if you disagree, as this could affect his decision later on, Nod your head and if needed say silly fool to yourself, excellent head with correct length and width, strong but still elegant, dark eye well used ears and super expression. Strong neck, super firm top line and well set and well used tail, moved well, pressed very hard by open winner but well deserved CC and should become a champion for me.
2nd SILKCROFT LIGHT FANTASTIC (MRS D & MISS H ESCOTT) 22 months old super quality female but was underweight which spoiled the balance overall trimmed to hide this fact but it was there to feel, a little longer in back than first place but nice female to go over super type for me good for size and bone very good head eyes and ears good expression strong neck nice coat good top line and tail set moved ok. ( was 2nd in puppy in 2009)

1st AMBERSTAR EIGHT DAYS A WEEK (MISS M TAYLOR) 3 years old bitch who I like when she came in super for coat and colour excellent for size and bone, strong but still feminine head dark eye and good well used ears, super neck strong firm top line and tail set super for chest very well presented and handled and pushed limit class winner very very hard but today got the RCC, later when writing the RCC owner told me last time I judged she was a puppy and I gave her the RCC ( must admit I don’t really remember people must be an age thing) so I was pleased to still see I like her and again I hope she becomes a champion. ( was 1st in puppy last time I judged in 2009)
2nd ABIQUA WILD IN A SATIN SASH ( MR C B & MRS P A MORAN) 3 years old female and pushed first here hard and on checking my records I see that time I gave her brother the RCC and sister the CC and my type of bitch correct and good for size super bone excellent coat in good condition, well presented and handled in a strong class super and pleasing head type dark eye and nice ears good neck and top line very much a female which is what I like to see and again one I would like to see and deserves to become a champion, ( she was 5th in junior in 2009 but I am sure I liked her but she messed her owner about)
