SOFT COATED WHEATEN PAIGNTON 23 Judge: Mrs J Miller SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE PAIGNTON 23 One of my favourite shows took a bit of a hammering from the weather with winds and rain but luckily I was inside in the newly laid out hall with new lighting and lovely big rings. I thank the Secretary Mark Elliott and the Committee for the invite. This appointment for soft Coated Wheaten Terriers was supposed to be 3 years ago and something I had been so looking forward to, and I was not disappointed, I thought the coat presentation was very good, but could have been cleaner in some cases. I felt the quality of the breed for type was very evident throughout the entry. Soundness was good although some lacked drive, I really enjoyed my appointment. 1 Herberts’ Saffini Smooth Operator At Julibidd A 2 year old nicely built and balanced dog presented well in a light wheaten coloured jacket with a nice loose fall. Good head balance with a flat skull with a good square muzzle well furnished, well set ears, kind dark eyes. I preferred his arched clean neck and tone, well set shoulders and firm topline well set and carried tail. Nicely bodied with ribs well back, good depth and carrying a nice weight, strong quarters with the correct return of stifle and let down hocks. Stylish mover and very sound with correct action. 2 Hookways’ Denzilly Golden Compass Lovely size and shape to this stylish 4 year old dog. Well worked and correctly shaped head, good ears well set and used, kind expressive dark eyes under veiling, strong straight muzzle well furnished. Good neck to shoulder with enough angulation. Having a firm level topline would have preferred a better tail carriage. Lovely body with depth and substance with ribs well sprung back into a short loin, body covered in a very well presented and conditioned silky loose curl of rich wheaten colour. Well boned legs and tight feet, moved out soundly just lacked the stride of my winner. 1 Satherleys’ Ch Silkcroft Shake It Off JW very stylish well balanced and built 2 year old youngster who stood covering the ground well and was nice to go over. Loved the correct head shape and well used ears. Nice dark expressive eyes under nice veiling good stop and strong square muzzle with furnished beard. Angulated forequarters with good width and depth, balanced, boned and coated forelegs with compact feet, correctly developed quarters having good tone, with a return of stifle and let down hocks.
